I think that the stranger wolves and dispersals should have random stats bc irl, wolves have strengths and weaknesses so it would be interesting to see. Plus it would be a fun challenge to find that perfect mate you want
Strangers having stats would be great, not just to give them some character and offer another layer of challenge, but to make the mate selection process even more interesting. Instead of just temperament and genetic diversity, you'd also need to be looking out for how conducive their build is to your playstyle. Good work with this stuff!
It would be nice for the dispersal and stranger wolf packs to each have their own stats. For example, maybe the wapiti pack has wolves with more speed than the other packs. Or one dispersal group has more stamina than another

I’m so excited! I was JUST thinking about what you guys would to for the stat mechanic! Personally, I think randomized stats for stranger wolves would create a realistic aspect to the game! Just knowing, “Hey, the Lamar Canyon pack has that one really fast wolf that is almost always paired with the one strong wolf. Maybe we shouldn’t risk hunting there,” would really create a cautious feel to how the wolf in real life picks there fights. I’m so excited for the bison, I’ll definitely poke at them, thank you guys for everything you do! (P.S. You can already change how "beefy" you wolf is in the customization, though. Muscle definition wouldn't really show that much on wolves because of all the fur.

Considering it takes +2 points per skill to max out, that would be a grand total of +8 points. At this scale, is it truly worth it? I believe it’s always legal to rearrange skills throughout the game.

Just returned from a trip to Yellowstone and it was just gorgeous! I was surprised to find out the landscape looked familiar because of this game. We even drove by the amethyst game map by the river. It was so beautiful, and I was delighted to see a large herd of bison in the valley!
Sorry I'm very late, I had no Wi-Fi, but I'm happy to see all the new features! I like how you added health as a stat! Also I think you should give the dispersal wolves their own randomized stats, it would also be cool for the stranger wolves to have unique stats because it would make it even more exiting to fight them!

Great update! The bison models look amazing and I'm sure their animations will be just as well. Always happy to hear progress on Multiplayer. My vote is for stranger wolves with randomized stats. Like everyone else says, the immersion and added challenge of facing wolves with varying strengths and weaknesses would be great fun. The previous version of the game had higher-strength wolves also grow in size a little bit. I know there are bundles of more animations this time around (which all look fantastic) so there may be more in-house penalties to making it happen if the scale breaks some animations initially, but I'm curious if it is something you guys have considered adding back eventually? It's definitely not something major, but slight size differences between wolves is very fun to look at, and could help a player scope out high-strength enemies in stranger pack to help decide if their low-health wolf should even bother picking a fight with them. If stats are implemented for stranger wolves, and if stats are genetic, I wonder if the different packs may have some higher and lower stats occurring more often? Like, one pack has a higher % of high-strength wolves, or a higher % of very fast wolves, or % of high health wolves that take a bit more biting to chase off, etc. Anyway, already looking forward to next Thursday's update!
I think it'd be cool to also be able to change the weight of your wolf. There is a pretty large weight range within grey wolves and I think it'd be super fun to have some be really big and others be runts. Maybe that could also effect the stats a little too? Like if you have a little wolf, it can't be as strong as a larger one.

Stats on disperser and other stranger wolves would be an awesome change. Then you REALLY have to consider who is your mate, even if you cant see their stats... You can still take notes during the 'dating' phase.

Maybe instead of entirely random stats in packs or a specialized stat for every pack, you could go in the middle and have each pack member have mostly randomized stats, but at least average or better in one stat according to the pack they're in, since each pack represents a family unit. Maybe there are one or two wolves in a pack that don't follow the general stat pattern, because they inherited a rare gene or came in as a loner, but generally one pack of wolves will have a pattern of being speedy, but weak most of the time.
I have to agree with the vast majority. I feel random stats for the stranger wolves and dispersal's would be a good idea. Could make choosing a mate even more interesting, espesually if you could actually check your potential mates stats. That way you can find a mate with nice stats that you prefer~. Random stats just make sense to me. Amazing job on the game so far~. Absolutely love what you guys are doing so far.
Although the stats are a welcome change. I do wish it was set up as points you adjust in the beginning.. But please add points to the game during gameplay. Like leveling your wolf up. These would make great "milestone" points that give players a sense of accomplishment and growth. Otherwise there isn't a reward system right now. Something gamers love. These points can be spent without hurting another stats but are in accurate single player only to earn. Milestones: Hunt your first Elk and 'Leave' Amethyst with your mate. 2pts Find your Den, Raise the Pups 2pts Teach pups to Hunt, Pups reach adulthood, Hunt one of everything (over the lifetime) 3pts Players can use this fully leveled wolf in multiplayer with its 7 bonus stats, but they can't change it. This also shows the person played your game fully and have taken the time to finish your campaign story and full life cycle of a wolf in The Hardest Mode, and finished. It gives us, a goal, reward system, and milestones.
I think randomization in wolf stats would be awesome! Maybe have some bigger than others, and the bolder ones on the stronger side, etc. the personalities controlling the stats.

It’s almost my birthday and I’m getting a new computer iv been searching for one that meets the requirements of wolfquest for ages and iv found one! (Also I think it would be really cool if stranger wolves had randomised stats)

I have an idea ! Do you know when a trail of an animal is really old, and disappears ? But the animal is still somewhere on the map ? Maybe add something like feces ? It'd say how old the feces are and tell the wolf that an animal was there recently, which would make them look around that area instead of running around aimlessly trying to pick up a trail ? Maybe when the animal is far away the feces disappear ? I don't know but I just came up with the idea and thought I'd share ! :D Btw I love this and I can't wait for more features and the pups I'm so excited

You should *definitely* randomise the stats for stranger wolves, dispersal wolves, and if you could here’s an idea: It would be fun if you could choose that stats of your mate and it would also be fun if the elk and bear and other animals have randomised stats as well. It would make a hunt more interesting to play if maybe the elk with the lowest health was the fastest and hardest to grab on to and maybe the strongest would be the easiest to catch but harder to kill. I understand if that would be too much for you to add and the game will be awesome either way. It’s just an idea Well two ideas

It would also be pretty realistic if you included random freak accidents, like a bison falls down in a chase, or a wolf gets run over or something like that. I saw this video where a bison was being attacked by a pack of wolves and a bison that was catching up to the herd from behind ended up knocking the bison whom was being attacked over, giving the wolves an easy meal
I always had a really easy time with cow elk and bull elk. Moose were a definite challenge though, especially since my mate was.. just another one of the AI. Was something I took on more in multiplayer. But bison. Hopefully with the new and improved mates, there'll be *some* fun in trying to hunt one.
YES BISON! I LOVE BISON! I also love watching wolves or any animal hunt, it’s so satisfying! I really want this game! If only I could get this game. My laptop is too slow. I can’t wait until this comes on mobile! :D And about the stats for stranger wolves and dispersal wolves should be randomized, it would feel more realistic since in real life two wolves aren’t as fast or have as much strength, endurance, or stamina as the other.

I definitely say if dispersal's and stranger wolves had randomized stats, it'd definitely add more immersion, and maybe it would affect their personality? For instance, a wolf with more strength/health has a higher chance to be more bold versus another wolf who might not be as strong in stats to be more shy or timid? Just an idea! Maybe instead of entirely random stats in packs or a specialized stat for every pack, you could go in the middle and have each pack member have mostly randomized stats, but at least average or better in one stat according to the pack they're in, since each pack represents a family unit. Maybe there are one or two wolves in a pack that don't follow the general stat pattern, because they inherited a rare gene or came in as a loner, but generally one pack of wolves will have a pattern of being speedy, but weak most of the time.

I have to agree with the vast majority. I feel random stats for the stranger wolves and dispersal's would be a good idea. Could make choosing a mate even more interesting, espesually if you could actually check your potential mates stats. That way you can find a mate with nice stats that you prefer~. Random stats just make sense to me. Amazing job on the game so far~. Absolutely love what you guys are doing so far.

Although the stats are a welcome change. I do wish it was set up as points you adjust in the beginning..
But please add points to the game during gameplay. Like leveling your wolf up. These would make great "milestone" points that give players a sense of accomplishment and growth. Otherwise there isn't a reward system right now. Something gamers love.
These points can be spent without hurting another stats but are in accurate single player only to earn.
Milestones: Hunt your first Elk and 'Leave' Amethyst with your mate. 2pts
Find your Den, Raise the Pups 2pts
Teach pups to Hunt, Pups reach adulthood, Hunt one of everything (over the lifetime) 3pts
Players can use this fully leveled wolf in multiplayer with its 7 bonus stats, but they can't change it. This also shows the person played your game fully and have taken the time to finish your campaign story and full life cycle of a wolf in The Hardest Mode, and finished. It gives us, a goal, reward system, and milestones.
Been playing since the first release of the game and I only have one thing to say: I am not disappointed.

I think randomization in wolf stats would be awesome! Maybe have some bigger than others, and the bolder ones on the stronger side, etc. the personalities controlling the stats.

Definitely randomize stranger wolf stats! That would make fights more varied and would definitely increase the emphasis on picking a mate that works well with your play style
Can’t wait for bison to come out!! iv been playing wolfquest on my dads work computer I spent all my money on the game, I have to play on the lowest graphics but even then it’s still an amazing game. It’s almost my birthday and I’m getting a new computer iv been searching for one that meets the requirements of wolfquest for ages and iv found one! (Also I think it would be really cool if stranger wolves had randomised stats)

Do you know when a trail of an animal is really old, and disappears ? But the animal is still somewhere on the map ?
Maybe add something like feces ? It'd say how old the feces are and tell the wolf that an animal was there recently, which would make them look around that area instead of running around aimlessly trying to pick up a trail ?
Maybe when the animal is far away the feces disappear ?
I don't know but I just came up with the idea and thought I'd share ! :D

YESSS!! You should *definitely* randomise the stats for stranger wolves, dispersal wolves, and if you could here’s an idea:
It would be fun if you could choose that stats of your mate and it would also be fun if the elk and bear and other animals have randomised stats as well. It would make a hunt more interesting to play if maybe the elk with the lowest health was the fastest and hardest to grab on to and maybe the strongest would be the easiest to catch but harder to kill.
I understand if that would be too much for you to add and the game will be awesome either way. It’s just an idea

The randomized stats would definitely be realistic!! It would also be pretty realistic if you included random freak accidents, like a bison falls down in a chase, or a wolf gets run over or something like that. I saw this video where a bison was being attacked by a pack of wolves and a bison that was catching up to the herd from behind ended up knocking the bison whom was being attacked over, giving the wolves an easy meal

I always had a really easy time with cow elk and bull elk. Moose were a definite challenge though, especially since my mate was.. just another one of the AI. Was something I took on more in multiplayer. But bison. Hopefully with the new and improved mates, there'll be *some* fun in trying to hunt one.
YES BISON! I LOVE BISON! I also love watching wolves or any animal hunt, it’s so satisfying! I really want this game! If only I could get this game. My laptop is too slow. I can’t wait until this comes on mobile! :D
And about the stats for stranger wolves and dispersal wolves should be randomized, it would feel more realistic since in real life two wolves aren’t as fast or have as much strength, endurance, or stamina as the other.

I think adding random stats to stranger wolves would be a great idea!! Makes some more challenging or easier to fight, would add another realistic element and make the game even more interesting to me ^-^

I think adding states for stranger wolves is a really good idea. I'll create for realism into the game. And more of a challenge to the players. :)
I definitely say if dispersal's and stranger wolves had randomized stats, it'd definitely add more immersion, and maybe it would affect their personality? For instance, a wolf with more strength/health has a higher chance to be more bold versus another wolf who might not be as strong in stats to be more shy or timid? Just an idea! Cant wait to try out the public beta!
