Back to the basics that make driving and cars in general so enjoyable. A brilliant high revving normally aspirated flat six engine which needs to be driven right to get the most out of it , a proper manual gearbox and a soundtrack that never gets old. 👌
My favourite! 997.1 GT3, it's pure emotion with it's manual trans! I was waiting for this one and thank you for the N/A series, as I said before, it's my favourite set of videos. Well done!
What an amazing machine! I miss so much the hydraulic steering feel, no electric one can compare to it. Adding that engine sound, priceless. Great video, looking forward for the next ones :)
Don't forget about the non-RS 997.1 GT3 models. Same engine. Nearly same performance without the flashy badges, Huge wing and bright colors schemes. Personally I much prefer to fly under the radar and just enjoy the experience. Can also knock 25% off the price tag!
Really nice series of videos 👍🏼. And this 997 GT3 RS in this orange is still a real stunner. Insiders know that there is SO much more to a nice car than only sheer power
Found your channel a few months ago... By far the best visuals of all the other YT channel dedicated to cars. Big thumbs up to your filming crew ! Cheers
Sweet! Great looking and functional Porsche. It's nice how it doesn't have too many modes to choose from and you can just get in and enjoy sporty driving with the amazing sounds!
My Suzuki Swift Sport z32 is a NA hero. Cost me £6k, cheap to run and you can thrash it and LOVE it on normal roads. It’s fast because of it’s usability with the knife-edge, spine-tingling throttle response you just don’t get with turbo cars. It will hold it’s value but is not going to appreciate so you don’t feel you have to garage it and protect it - you can do what it was meant to do - drive it hard!!! 😋
There is something in the noise of this "old" engine that can't be replicated on the newer ones, even if you fit a LOUD exhaust system...it's just a sweeeeet musical tone. Beautiful! What an amazing series this is!
Wow Matt, Just sensational and better than my 997 GT3 " lightweight " which only weighs 1342 Kgs with 432.3 BHP @8010 RPM and a Akrapovic Full Titanium "straight pipe" exhaust .Though I might have a slightly higher top speed having the "narrow body' shell.
Sorry to interrupt the conversation about naturally aspirated engines (which I adore, like you do). I think there is also one engine that somehow manages to 'unite' car enthusiasts all over the world because it is turbocharged but sounds like an N/A. If the GT3's engine is affectionately called a Mezger, then the F40 engine (and the earlier GTO's for that matter) must undoubtedly be called a Materazzi. I would recommend you try to find an F40 and locate Materazzi (he's in his 80's now) and talk about an engine that is a pussycat below 3000 rpm and a tiger up to the red-line. A little-known fact is that the ~480HP it makes and the lag it has could have been a lot worse if he'd chosen to use the race-spec calibration. Instead the stamping on the engine blocks of the F40 engines denote that it's the version which was destined for Group B rallying (as opposed to Group B circuit racing which never materialised) and hence had smaller turbos and different dump-valves & wastegates. If you have enough saved up and 'only' need two drivers cars, then you could do a lot worse than own a GT3RS and and F40.
1/4 the price? COOL!!! I’ll take 2 of them… 1 to use, and 1 to lose…. Just like pencils in Jr High… OH OH! ….And I want mines to have that cool “red line” at the top of the steering wheel, it would be a shame to be coming out of a sharp turn and not realize (or just forget), to move the wheel BACK to the center position 3 inches to the right or left, and just drift off the road…. But that cool steering wheel line will remind me that the wheel and that line need to line up to the very top to maneuver the vehicle into the position to go straight again…. BRILLIANT. Just BRILLIANT, and at only 3500 dollars to apply that special hand drawn and applied accoutrements, I feel Porsche hits it out of the park. Such a bargain for such innovative tech. I know I often forget to straighten that wheel after coming out of a turn at high speeds headed back from Ralph’s….Then Poof! I need a new Porsche. …It gets pricy after a while….
Great video, chaps! I do enjoy my 997 GT3. Of course, I have to let 991.2 PDK Carreras pass me on track days, but which one of us is having the most fun? 8400 RPM in second gear is very addictive.
Great video!! I have a BMW. It drives very well!! Much better than an Audi, or Benz. But, I have driven a 997.1 Carrera, and it was a great car! I can understand why people like these so much!! I love the way this car looks! the new 992 looks bad.
Us car enthusiasts need more of this kind of stuff. Top gear has just lost it now. I get so much more entertainment and knowledge from you guys, Joe Achilles and Jay Em. 👌
Five years ago you could pick up a used 997.1 or 997.2 GT3 RS for around $100k. Now you'd have to pay two and a half times that to get one. My next car is going to be a special Porsche. Forget the steep initial buy in price, you'll make it back - and more - in time.
Naturally aspirated, manual, rwd, mid or rear engined, not heavy. That's all you need for driving bliss. Here is a question though. 997.1 GT3 3.6 or a 981 Cayman GT4 3.8? Tough one!
The 997 GT3 RS or any 997 GT for that matter, isn't actually light, the real world weight is pretty similar compared to the real world weights of the 991 or 992 generation GT cars. Most customer 997 GT cars with AC, PCM, clubsport pack, axle lift, HID lights are anywhere between 1450kg to 1500kg without the driver.

Amazing! The distant/echoed upshift at 8:30 should have been the outro or final sound output of this video. It gave me chills. What a great car.
