The thing about Coheed's music is that they don't box themselves into a particular style. This is how all music should be. It is diverse set of tools to tell a story, and they don't care about experimenting to get the job done. I love it.
I'd say they've mostly boxed themselves into their own style which isn't a bad thing. I don't think any of their albums are major departures from what they normally make, just the typical slight departures you see as a band gets older.

Aaaand there's a guy reading the Amory Wars comic at 1:00! This is awesome! Excellent song and a great music video to go with. Coheed is such an amazing band! They never fail to deliver the goods!
I don't understand how ANYONE on this planet could not love this song, i get the chills when i listen to it. Probably one of the best songs ever created
Travis REALLY stepped it up on this album. They all did. Kind of like how they stepped up in In Keeping Secrets from Second Stage. When I first heard this (me being a HUGE fan of Second Stage) I felt like this wasn't that great Coheed sound. Then I realized that this is their BIG step into evolving into the greatest musicians in the world. I now see the genius they put into this record. I now realize that this record defines who Coheed and Cambria is, and all the work that got them here.
After years of watching this, it JUST hit me that the "Black Rainbow" is the inhabitant's perspective of their planet's atmosphere effectively being ripped apart, sealing their fate. This is also why the couple at the end grasps each other's hand, because they are witnessing something both beautiful to behold and ultimately fatal.
Well in the book, and then the comics that just came out, The Black Rainbow most likely is an ethereal property. Wilhelm Ryan looks beyond the living world to rule, and finds a more spiritual world to conquer. It is heavily implied in the newest comics that The Black Rainbow either came from this spiritual world, or is a physical representation of both the physical and spiritual world merging together. All im saying is that The Black Rainbow, in the story canon, is actually physically there, and not just an abstract concept
@@NocturneJester Not a sign that the Earth was coming into Heaven's Fence. In The Second Stage Turbine Blade comic, when Coheed burns one of the Stars of Sirius, the planets connected to that Star break off and ended up forming their own tiny galaxy with what Keywork was left in the planets. This galaxy being our Milky Way, complete with Saturn, Uranus, the Sun and everything else. The idea that the Earth comes into Heaven's Fence doesn't *seem* to be the case, but after the newest comics, ANYTHING is possible at this point lmao
@@NocturneJester Actually, given the new info regarding the My Brother's Blood Machine comic, the idea that our Earth going into Heaven's Fence, or the Amory Wars reality, for a more specific phrase, is ENTIRELY possible. It's about Inferno being transported (not sure how) to our Earth to tell the tale of the Amory Wars, and that our Milky Way is actually a destroyed sector of Heaven's Fence. Before he can tell that story, he tells the story of My Brother's Blood Machine. So just to reiterate, you're probably right, just have the wrong timeline of events. This wouldn't be happening during The Black Rainbow given the events that unfold in that story and how they progress. It could take place before Second Stage, but the evidence suggests My Brother's Blood Machine takes place after From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness.
