I saw the Godz, along with Angel for $2 in 1978 at the Stanley in Pittsburgh. one of the best concerts ever! Bought both their albums!!!!! what a time to be a teenager!
Saw Chatfield here in Columbus, Ohio, playing with Rosie, on their 30 year Reunion. They Rocked it, was invited to the after show party at Rosie o, Grady's, but I had my 17 yr old son who went to the concert with me. I actually let the drummer use one of my trucks while in Columbus a week or so. Missed their 40 yr reunion, would be Kool to see them back for their 50
There's More Of Us Than There Is Of Them!!!!! The Godz!!!!! Brings back many memories including playing the hell out of their self titled album on my turntable!!! The Godz are Rock n Roll Machines!!!!
The GODZ freaking rule. In 1977 or 78, made the best decision of my then 10-ish year old life, and that was to buy their debut album rather than Van Halen's.
this song was my 1978 national anthem///graduated and lived this song partying my ass off and getting the major adrenalin rush off this kick ass song ////never heard or witnessed another song that ever meant more///.fuckin party///we were all godz back then///kick fuckin ass///
Glad to have known Eric in my life and hometown.my first rock night out on the town..you guessed it.. a Godz show. Hometown rockers were the best RIP Godz
Back in day's, living up the street from Mark Chatfield, late ,70s in Grove City, Ohio... Basically, seen and saw this song getting put together. Quite often in Marks basement , few party's, that I could remember the next day. The rest is history
COLUMBUS OHIO ROCK AND ROLL. I remember this tune in pretty high rotation when it came out in cleveland l, I was 7. and it pointed my young life in the right direction. We're all some kinda junkie?
These boyz put the FILTHY in Filthy McNasty's in Kent OH. Early '80'z waiting for them with our pitcherz of brew on the stage and partying throughout their entire show. They did a great cover of "Twilight Zone" too. Kidz today don't know what they were missing. Godz made it the Best Timez EVER
I played the groves out of their first album, First concert I ever went to the Godz opened then the Babies then Angel headlined. Someone stole one of Angels trucks full of gear. Loved growing up in Ohio, Rocky River High and Polaris vocational. Graduated in 82
Remembering when we had them at Jr's.in Zanesville. I had to climb over the bar to get out from behind the bar. So many people rocking the night away with the Godz. Sad that they didn't make it big time like they should have.
Wish I was there! Starz and Angel were always cool. I never got into these guys back then. I thought the music was a little cliched. In lieu of the fact these bands aren't around and everything out there is pure shit. I don't mind this stuff now. Brings back memories.
I saw these guys back in 79-80 at the Pikeville gymnasium in Pikeville, Ky. A good friend of mine had bought 2 tickets & he wasn't able to go? So, he came to my house with 4 hits of green microdot. First time i'd ever seen green microdot. He said: Man, you gotta go see these guys..They are Awwesome. I was a little reluctant to go. Because my young wife was pregnant with out 1st child. But, we went. You know how there'll Always be some that can't handle their booze..Right? So, there were these 3 guys acting Really stupid. But, they were 2-3x bigger than i was. But, one of the guys kept bumping into my mind & i politely ask him "Don't be bumping into my wife & pushing her..she's pregnant" He said: F you.So, we moved over a couple times to try to avoid them. But, they would move over everytime we did. So, i ask him Again to stop. He continued. So, i ask his friend to do something with him or i would.& that i would not ask him Again? They were acting Really Stupid. So, he bumps into her again & i went RED. I had my school class ring on & i switched it to my middle finger. I was watching him & he was getting ready to do it again. So, when he did. I hit him Right between the eyes with my class ring & knocked him Off his feet & he went flying under 3-4 rolls of seats & they carried his ass out. The audience as well as the Godz were hollering & a hooping "Way to go man..Good for you"! It was a night that i will Never forget? I'll try to avoid a fight as much as i can. But, when i get Mad enough to fight. I'm MADD enough to kill. TRUE Story!
Man that brings back memorys for me of partying in the 80s ,drunk on little kings beer and ..well other things we did back then.. those guys use to play down here(New Philadelphia, ohio) once and a while back then @ a Bar called CT's now its the BrewHouse. Thanks for posting.
I remember seeing them at a Red Eye concert around Celina OH. ONE BIG PARTY. Soon after that I joined the Army and was assigned to Fort Sam Houston TX and actually bought a cassette from a store in San Antonio which surprised me. Rock and Roll Machine. Hell yes. Testify
I hear it in my mind on Q-FM96, in a deep voice: "Eric Moore and the Godz!" Somewhere also in there was Rick Catella (sp), the Rock and Roll Reverend, and the Alrosa Villa. I saw Nick Cave there.
GOD SPEED ERIC MOORE "Eric was known by his legions of fans as a beer-drinking, pistol carrying, blue collar rock-n-roller and the leader of the Godz fans worldwide known as 'The Machines'.
I saw them in May of 1978 in nearby Fresno California. Went to see Angel and these guys opened up and I became a huge fan faster than it took Angel to appear from those stacked cubicles. I remember watching Eric guzzle down a beer on stage in between a song and the beer running down his chest and pants. And then then there was the solo from Mark Chapman in the song Cross Country... Gawd that was back when Rock was really Rock. Miss those days.. Anybody know where I can find a time machine?
Man thank you so much for putting this up, freaking awesome! Reminds us of better days. We couldnt agree on weather he said Akron Ohio or Canton Ohio or something else, anyone know? Cause were in Akron near Canton.
"Everyone's some kinda junkie. There's money junkie, booze junkie, sex junkie, but there's one thing that they don't understand, that's why we got long hair & get high, we're everything your parents ever warned you about, We don't see straight, we don't feel straight, but we're all godz, and god created us, And Rock n Roll created us. No, not 1978. Mark Chatfield, Glen Cataline and Bob Hill were still in the Godz in 1978. I lived with one of the members of the band from 1975-1979. I'd say this was 82-85 timeframe.
it is a SHAME that they did not get more support from their record label.i am hoping they will tour to support their new album THE LAST OF THE OUTLAWS.
In the early days of the GODZ Mark Chatfield was the lead guitarist. He's been BOB SEGER's lead since 1982. Plus Don Brewer of Grand Funk RailRoad plays drums for Seger. Fantastic band!!
These guys were at the Swallows in Zanesville a lot in mid to late 70’s. First time I saw them they had to drummers playing. Pretty cool. They would pack that place.

Eric my man. Used to see you guyz at The Swallows in Zville, OH. Eric stripped down to his underwear one nite and rocked the place crazy. Excellent memories, and one of the best venues for Rock that is long since gone.

Saw these guys with Starz and Angel way back in the 70's at the Toledo Sports Arena. Godz, Starz, and Angel - sounds like a revival show or something.
Wish I was there! Starz and Angel were always cool. I never got into these guys back then. I thought the music was a little cliched. In lieu of the fact these bands aren't around and everything out there is pure shit. I don't mind this stuff now. Brings back memories.
