When I learned how to do sigils many years ago one of the steps was to sort of decorate the sigil in a meaningful way. For instance, adding arrows for energy and movement or vines and flowers to represent the sigil taking root and spreading, etc. I hadn't thought about it, but I guess this would be part of the charging process. It has always worked well for me, but now I'm wondering if the decorative step should be skipped or not. I mean, I'd hate to think that I was accidentally making my sigils less effective. What would you recommend?
Cat Scanlan Same, I used to (haven't done sigils for years, but my first ones did work!) put names around it of an ancient god/goddess who was relevant to the thing I wanted. Not part of the usual process, but in my mind it gave it more power. I think that whatever feels right to you is right, because after all, sigils are primarily affecting your unconscious to work towards a goal, increasing (sometimes dramatically) your probability of success at that goal. On that note I think there's a collective unconscious only accessible through your own unconscious (and thus permenantly hidden from your conscious under nearly all circumstances) where your unconcious can transmit your sigil if appropriate, and this explains how sigils you cast can affect other people in the right circumstances. So including symbolism highly embedded in the collective unconscious makes sense if trying to effect others. But that's just what I think, no hard evidence for it, so believe what you like!

Shmuffles There are no real rules for this kind of thing. As for your other question, your intentions have to be something possible. So no, becoming king of Denmark is not a good sigil. And you can make as many as you like. Sometimes multiple sigils can empower each other.

The goal is not to preserve all the letters, but to create a simple symbol of your desired effect. Constructing it from letters fairly arbitrary and is just the path to that simple image.

Solid video. Tell me what you think of this lazy method: Take just ONE consonant (Though it doesn't have to be a consonant) from each word in your SOI. Use that to make your sigil and then turn the vowels into a big, long ass mantra to chant as you gaze at your sigil? I really like the way you emphasis making the statement positive. That one trips people up that have been practicing for years & years and should know better but still use negatives (*Raises hand*).

+Mortie I did that Sigil more as an example than anything else - but for what it's worth, my personal belief is that the subconscious of the individual is also connected to the consciousness of the masses. We share subtle cues and bits of information all the time without realising. We're not as separate as we like to believe, and so, affecting even your own consciousness, can have a ripple effect into that of other people. As an example, say I believed I couldn't get any views on this video - vs if I believed I could get hundreds, my presentation style might change, the ways I go about advertising the video might change. So my change in thoughts and actions, can affect the actions of others too. See what I mean? Hope that answers your question!

I think I leave it up to whoever's watching to make their own mind up over how any of it works or doesn't work - but, how much of your outside world just appears out of nowhere with no relation to what's going on inside you? If you get a job, it's because you got the education/qualifications, you went looking, you aced the interview, you stood out. You did all of that not because of what was outside of you, but what was inside of you. Going back to the video example. Video views can come from a lot of places, but it's the title, tags, description that tell the algorithm where to show it, how much of the video people watch that tells the algorithm how often to recommend it, and how much people like it, that dictates how often they share it with others. So it's mostly about what goes into the video, which again comes internally from you.

what do you do in the case of the letter Y is that considered a vowl?
That's up to you, some people use slightly different rules, but I personally include the letter Y.
