I am absolutely BLOWN AWAY by their new album. I have never, in my 8 years of death metal listening, heard blasting that intense. From Hate Eternal's Roddy to Nile's Kolias, no one has ever blasted as fast for such LONG periods of time. Saw Fleshgod live and the drummer is spot on. Francesco Paoli is 2011's Blaster of the Year. I respect and admire all aspects of death metal, but there's something about Paoli's intensity that is unmatched by any other to date.
Their latest album Labrynth is unbelievably fast and very rich. The combination of apocalyptic classical operatic music with faster than light brutal metal is heavenly. He reminds me of the Flo mournier except for this drummer has super blast beats.
Paoli is killer man! 270 bpm blasting with little mistakes. Some people down below have said this drumming is boring because it sounds like a drum machine. Isn't that the point of drums in technical death metal? It's meant to sound chaotic and unbounded.
mastersaimon I said this over a year ago but there were some double bass notes that sounded faster than the actual pattern. Like playing a 48th note in a 32th note pattern. Basically playing too fast can lead to "overshooting". With either playing too fast or too slow.
Your comment is probably sarcastic, but to answer if not, it's just a matter of being human, when playing (especially fast), it's normal to loose some notes, like over playing or under playing (based on my own experience, when I play fast double bass, I sometimes loose precision, like playing a note a little bit too soon, or my foot can jam for 2-3 notes so I misplay them)
Francesco Paoli is certainly one of the best,if not the best drummer out there today. He always put a smile on my face everytime he starts playing...;-)
he's using two double bass to mix with the blast beat, if he was using only one foot it would be heel toe technique, it's impossible to stand all the 45 seconds without stopping a second, that would be programmed
Out of the 3 Francesco vids on SDM, this one has to be my favorite. Love the snare, love the energy he he gives off and overall great performance.....and of course i love the song. ILY SDM
@tesk Perhaps... if that's all you watch it could get boring, just as watching any other one style all the time would. Thanks for watching! There is a lot to see and learn in our 500+ videos, so please do browse around!
when i read the title for the first time i thought it said the Eargasm. so i listened, and i am convinced that the Eargasm should be the new title of this song. \m/
@Traconiz you dont "double the bass kick" with triggers. A trigger is just a sensor connected to a drum module that detects when the bass drum is hit and it produces a sound. It just makes the bass drum sound better
this track is fooooKiiiiiiiN INSAAAAAAAANE man \m/ Fleshgod Apocalypse is making up for Decapitated's latest album (which is still good.. but not as intense)
After listening to the album, I have to say that I like this (and your other video of The Violation) better than the studio version, which is great but totally overproduced. I really hope they release a live album. If it sounds anything like this video I'd buy it.
I have to post once more. I love drums, can somebody tell me, during the solo why that snare thing at 3:49 became to me so awesome? In context of sound of whole solo.
@humbug595 Strictly speaking, heel-toe is a method of double stroke. Of course, people have muddied the terminology kinda badly, so people are gonna be meaning a few different things by that. Paoli does do double strokes on the feet though, you are correct.

i was at this show, this dude is just absolutely amazing, his hand technique is ridiculous!
That ending blast is actually 300bpm francesco are you on speed or wtf is going on

Agony is the fastest album in their discography.
I love how he accentuates the riffs with those cymbals
Francesco Paoli is AWESOME !!!! The whole band is AwEsOmE !!!!

+Matt Weismiller where are the mistakes?

one of the best drummers ever!
he has master the heel toe! so much power in it and so clean as well!
i do really love when he did hyperblast. he can stand for a long time
+aga asu 5:35: so that no one else has to look for it again. ;)
It's supposed to be 6 seconds of blast beat without stopping, and in some parts he did 12 seconds
he's using two double bass to mix with the blast beat, if he was using only one foot it would be heel toe technique, it's impossible to stand all the 45 seconds without stopping a second, that would be programmed

i love this band, they have one of the best albums this year too
Out of the 3 Francesco vids on SDM, this one has to be my favorite. Love the snare, love the energy he he gives off and overall great performance.....and of course i love the song. ILY SDM
I can't wait to see these guys tonight!
Wonderbar! Hammer grooving drummer!
So much clipping! Never have I heard Fleshgod produce a truly clear sound! I just want to hear the guitars god damn it!!
Nice! Thanks!
@tesk Perhaps... if that's all you watch it could get boring, just as watching any other one style all the time would. Thanks for watching! There is a lot to see and learn in our 500+ videos, so please do browse around!
Did not think the ending was possible holy shit!
I remember this one I went to the S.F concert and the double bass was just BLASTING!!! fuuuuuuckk
I think I'm in love
love the sounds of the snair drum...... \,,/
One of the sickest intros i have heard in a long time
Grande Frappa!!!
These guys really play their stuff spot on comparing to the album.
so coooooooooooooool and grooooooooooovy !!!
when i read the title for the first time i thought it said the Eargasm. so i listened, and i am convinced that the Eargasm should be the new title of this song.
\m/
The groove of this is amazing! I just got this album, and it is Pristine! Haha. Those Italians have stepped it up; WAY up.
@yomamaoogly Awesome, you just got me really excited. Can't wait to mosh to all three tomorrow.
Sick audio recording man, your page rules!
Awesome band
insane drummer. wow.
GRANDEEEEEEE
The vocalist in the beginning sounds so fucking badass with his accent.
He is a composer . he know what to do
the way his hand moves is hypnotizing
so cooooooooooooooooooool !!! \m/
New favorite drummer. Faaaack.
@Traconiz you dont "double the bass kick" with triggers. A trigger is just a sensor connected to a drum module that detects when the bass drum is hit and it produces a sound. It just makes the bass drum sound better
1:34 nergal`s voice lol
Fr??
This song is so fucking heavy I can't handle it. Can't wait to hear the whole album.
this track is fooooKiiiiiiiN INSAAAAAAAANE man \m/ Fleshgod Apocalypse is making up for Decapitated's latest album (which is still good.. but not as intense)
They are sooo sick live.
@Finniej The band is Fleshgod Apocalypse. They're amazing.
Anyone who can play that good in a dress shirt and vest is a beast in my opinion.
@felixj401 We have the Drummer Slaughter issue coming out i believe in October it will have tons of footage from all the band. Stay Tuned!
that's so fucking beautiful !!!
he is the proof, that you can play with a shortboard chain//leatherband footpedal such sick heeltoe techniques!!
This is what I always wanted Dimmu Borgir to sound like and develop into.
After listening to the album, I have to say that I like this (and your other video of The Violation) better than the studio version, which is great but totally overproduced.
I really hope they release a live album. If it sounds anything like this video I'd buy it.
He looks awesome, don't know the band but it sounds good. Gotta look it up.
@Imrez He's also great in Hour of Penance!
I see he took off his blast "cruise-control"
That vocals part is done by Veronica "ValchiRea" Bordacchini. So it is her.
brutale snare sound
Their new album is fucking amazing, best release this year.
his high vocal, HIS!!!
Amogh Symphony, they are ridiculous!
Thanks man, I could not see well and distinguish the technique that uses
@DethDaeNossi most drummers use both triggers and mics. Triggers to be able to hear the bassdrum clearly, mics to make it sound natural
fucking love this thanks sickdrummer keep the vids coming
@DethDaeNossi He uses triggers, every drummer does though ...except maybe Ringo Starr.
What's the intro song? love it
I still can't believe this guy has been playing drums for like 4 years... 0_o
he uses heel toe right?
or do my eyes and ears decieve me
i can't help but associate his movements with those of a conductor xF
Sounds fucking awesome
@gonadiator Totally agree! Especially if you consider the fact, that he's been playing for 2 years or something like that.
@Kentsuruki I guess Francesco is just one of those things in life we just can't explain.
@plasteber Yep! I'm seriously impressed with not only his playing but the awesomeness of Agony. One of my favorite records of the year!
@sickdrummerdotcom fist of all thanks for the upload! do you have a drumcam video from thru our scars?
@Kentsuruki probably is just the camera, i bet it can't capture how fast the beaters are moving fluidly
@MstrRed Absolutely true. He also did some guitar/vocal parts on Agony, if I´m not mistaken. What a beast.
@Karumpilkins totally agree
@sickdrummer would you happen to know what brand of cymbals he is using? I forgot to ask after they played.
I have to post once more. I love drums, can somebody tell me, during the solo why that snare thing at 3:49 became to me so awesome? In context of sound of whole solo.
@wtmbass It's double strokes, he's not moving his legs so fast that it looks like it's blurred.
@gonadiator Cheers man... Beyond Creation sounds freakin insane too \m/
a lot of cats hate on these dudes because they sing clean. but, i think it's amazing!
@HELLsmoG Off hand no, we will try to remember and find out.
i would like to see more of skeletonwitch drum cams nau is a beast
@Nicolas Alejandro Ramos Moran He is using a different technique to all of them.. He is using double strokes or more commonly known as Heel-Toe
You guys gonna be putting any other FA stuff up?? I wanna see a bit more of his blasting, this song had hardly any! haha so sick though...
for summer slaughter, does anyone know the line up for the bands? when did fleshgod go on?
Nice Suit
@sickdrummerdotcom so its 2 strokes left foot, then 2 strokes right etc?
@humbug595 Strictly speaking, heel-toe is a method of double stroke. Of course, people have muddied the terminology kinda badly, so people are gonna be meaning a few different things by that. Paoli does do double strokes on the feet though, you are correct.
@EveryonePickedMyName maby headphones would work? i can here it fine
Hi Sickdrummer, thanks for this great video! Can you tell me what song is the bit at the very beginning from? Thank you.
Anyway we could get the video from the top right by itself? I'd really love to see that, but bigger.
It does sounds just like him. holy hell.
Hmmmm, I wonder why he didn't do the rolls in between the blasting during the end like he does in the album.
Fkng sick song! \,,/ Fleshgod Apocalypse \,,/
What foot technique does he uses in the fast double bass drum parts?
He doesn't even use axis pedals, I saw him packing up his drums at the palladium and they were just pearl chain driven pedals. Crazy.
MAN! I fucking LOVE this album. So sick....
