I met this guy when I parked by Chimaira's tour bus at a show. He is fucking cool.

Chimaira is my favorite band, it sucks how they are so underrated. They diserve a spot up in the top 5 or rock hall of fame

Not to mention the style of the riffs they write.. they aren't generic sounding. They always mix it up, thats why they are my favourite band.. Joel and adam are actually beastly lead players too.. after seeing them live and watching them add in solo's etc.. i was blown away. Not to mention their pinches ;)

Awesome Guitar player, and a great guy too, hung out with him after a show, really nice.
It was never actually incorporated into a song, but this riff section is called "MMV". You can see it on his myspace page playlist.
He has the perfect rig, that's exactly what i've been wanting

This riff is too hard for me :p I think this riff was going to be used in a song on their self titled album, but they decided not to use it after all. Rob Arnold rules, Chimaira rules, and his guitar rules! \m/

Actually the amp behind him is the new Peavey 6505+ (which is exactly the same as the 5150II...except the look).
that is the guy who trains each and every artist to be in the Rock House DVDs.
Fucking sick riffs, he should use that in a song for Chimaira.
Yes The tabs are in the booklet that comes with the DVD but you have to buy the DVD.
... and as soon as I heard this riff, I knew I had to learn it.
As for clean, EMGs do not have horrible tones. In my opinion, they are decent.
Well it's hard to be perfect, Rob's DVD comes with a Tab book so you can easily follow along.

its called MMV it was supposed to be on the selftitled chimaira cd but didnt make it on there.
Loomis has a DVD out, its produced by Guitar World, or their DVD branch
we're working on it, we have spoken with Adam and I think he wants to do it. They bring a lot becuase they don't play leads but their rhythms are so tight it could be a killer program.
The riff was never put into a song, but its called AMV according to Rob Arnolds Myspace page.
i already sent the tab to one of the people on here who requested them, i also posted it on ultimate-guitar a while ago and for some reason it isnt showing in the search still like my other tabs i posted. anyway if you want em ill send em to you.
Tell us about your guitar and your amp. Which manufacturer, model etc. and we might tell you some settings to come close to that.
Its actually a peavey 5150. That's where most of the tone is coming from. The mesa cab will make a difference obviously but most that tone is coming from the peavey head!

@therockhouse You would sell a ton of DVDs if you got After the Burial, Veil of Maya, August Burns Red or Lamb of God to do an instructional DVD :P

So, for those who have it, is this DVD worth getting? It seems like a lot of guitar-learning DVDs just consist of me sitting there watching some guy shred his ass off, without any good explanation of how the hell he did it. Does Rob go a bit more in-depth and in-detail on this to actually aid you in improving?

It does sound like he is ever so slightly....EVER so slightly, out of tune on the D and or G string.

dude that is what the lesson is, don't you get it that is why he over does it, so that you can see and hear what he is trying to teach. It's crazy how many people just don't get that!

looks like a 6505+ cuz its got more knobs than a regular 6505 cuz it has independent EQ

i don't think he's playing a song(could be wrong), at least not a chimaira song, perhaps from one of the early demo's or sumthing, but i have every chimaira album and the dvd(includes this present darkness lp) and i don't recognize it

listen to metallica and anything they play clean those are emg 81`s

Maybe you can post a video so we can see how it is supposed to be done. Oh by the way THE LESSON IS ON HARMONICS therefore that is why he over plays the harmonics so people can hear and learn from them.
