- The gravesite of Agnes Moorehead who played Endora on Bewitched in Dayton, Ohio. Agnes Moorehead's grave is probably the most famous grave in Dayton Memorial Park.
WOW!!! had noo idea she was buried in Dayton, Ohio. I've lived in Dayton, Ohio all my life (44 years) and Bewitched is one of my all time favorite shows. This is amazing. I will have to go visit her sometime.
It is worth a visit.
She was a classy /sassy woman.
There was only one Darren! Dick York. The chemistry he had with Elizabeth was genuine.
She definitely had the sass! I couldn’t imagine anyone else in that role besides her.
Wow, I had no idea Agnes was buried in Dayton! I am in Columbus so maybe I'll make a trip to visit her grave sometime soon. I loved her character and I still watch Bewitched to this day, just as I did as a little girl. Dick York was my favorite 'Darrin'... Thanks for sharing !

I think when I first watched it they must've been in the Dick Sargent era, So even though he came after York , Sargent was my first introduction to the character.

Finally came by to have a look at this. Bewitched is one of those shows that brings me back to my childhood. I would watch it on days I didn't have school with mother. Endora was always one of my favorite characters and I would wonder why she wasn't in every episode. Now I know! Great video!!!
Yeah, she didn’t love the role. Unfortunately for her she was very good at it.
She didn't want to be in every episode.. she wanted to take time out for her "One woman shows" that were her passion. And being in every episode would be a total drudge, and probably would of tanked the show earlier than its 8 year run. I adore Agnes and her Endora character.. we have alot of the same qualities and tastes. Wish I could have met her at least once.. I've heard she was "bigger than life, but very down to Earth," according to Kasey Rogers (Mrs. Tate.) I would have been in my glory to say hello to Agnes, and if she would've permitted me to give her a hug!! I just love her belief system, as I to am a believer in God, and I also love her whimsical / playful side.. like a little child at Christmas. She was definitely not afraid to show that. 💜💜💜 and miss you Dear Agnes!!!!! ⚘️
She was to me an icon of her time. What an impressive body of work. Thank you for living to entertain us. ❤
She is most remembered for the Bewitched role but she did so much more.

Me/ born in 55 I watched the first Bewitched show and every day since. If no channels had it on I pulled out my DVD s.of the show. I have a Bewitched mask of witch I never cover my magical nose. Dick York I adored he really is #1. He & Samantha were true love. My bucket list is to visit Salem Massachusetts preferably on Halloween 🎃. I've never been and I hope to save enough to go. Thanks 4 the video

@@TheTolleRoad Paul 'Lynde's cremated remains are interred at Amity Cemetery, in Amity, Knox County, Ohio, next to those of his brother Johnny and sister Helen. His father and mother are buried at the same cemetery.' Got that from Wikipedia.

Correction: the show debuted in 1964, not '66. It is true that she died not long after the show ended ('72).

I live close to Dayton, Ohio!! I have a lot of friend's up that way also!! I've never been to that cemetery to see Agnes Morehead, I loved her portrayal of Endora(I think that's how you spelled it), on Bewitched, my favorite show!!
Cemetery is real close to where I-75 and I-70 meet.
A coworker and I sometimes eat our lunch at this cemetery. It is well kept.

Sh thank you for showing her resting place for us.. I was just so fond of her, Such a funny woman and I love her iconic role as Samantha's mother in Bewitched. She was just so hilariously enchanting. Oh yeah, we have some of our own celebrity by the name of Wyatt Earp buried not far where my mom is buried. She had cancer and died from end stage dementia. She's at the Hills of Eternity Memorial Park in Colma.

@@TheTolleRoad And I didn't even realize he was being buried in the cemetery either until I happened to pass his burial site many times when my dad and I went to find my mom's grave site. I saw Bewitched so many times as a child when she was playing the role of Samantha's mom. And Elizabeth Montgomery played the role as Samantha. Bewitched's still my favorite childhood program. And the other, happened to be 'I Love Lucy with Lucille Ball and Star Trek, wth Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner and many others.

When I was a kid, we heard she was buried at the cemetery and we spent some time searching before we found the location in the mausoleum. Roger Clemens' mother, Bess, is buried in the same cemetery.
I knew Roger was as born in the area and lived in Vandalia (I think) but didn’t know his mom was buried there. Thanks for the information.
Dick York by far. He had chemistry as Darrin. Dick Sargent was sooooo stiff and didn't really resemble Darrin at all.

Dick York I think there's a school in Huber Heights with the name Moorhead in Dayton Ohio
Rushmore is about the closest to that school name I know of in Huber.

Nice video coverage of Agnes Moorehead's gravesite. i remember reading a long time ago something about that movie set and those who passed due to cancer, possibly from radiation. Now i'm curious so will have to research into that again! i am from Columbus, Ohio, so i enjoyed your sharing information on Agnes. She was a Christian, who would read the Bible during breaks, and to the children, and was constantly harassed by Paul Lynde. He was the one who started the rumor that she was a lesbian and had a lot of people believing his lie. What a shame. i vote for Dick York as the best Darrin. His acting was impeccable, from his quirkiness in movement and facial looks to his softness and loving ways with Samantha. Sargent always came across as rigid and uncomfortable. Dick York...another sad story. Thank you for your time in making this video!
I know John Wayne and Dick Powell also died from cancer and were involved with the Conqueror. There may have been others but who knows if the movie set was the cause or not. Thanks for watching and let me know if you dig any else up!
@TheTolleRoad Susan Hayward also died from Cancer and was on that movie set as well out of 200 people on that movie set 91 people had some firm of Cancer. Agnes, Susan, John Wayne were just 3 of them. So sad. 😭💜⚘️

The more comments I get about York the more I question my Sargent choice. I think when I very first watched the show it must've been during the Dick Sargent era.
Visited today! There is an Agnes Moorehead fan FB page and I met up with some people there. Her marker was covered in flowers. I then went to the Rip Rap Shake Shack. Have you been there yet? I know I asked previously in another video a while back.

Yes! I was going to do it and the Garst Museum at the same time but the Garst is closed on my days off. I did go to Maid-Rite in Greenville when I was out there though.

I heard Agnes Moorehead was extremely religious and thus a little more conservative and traditional with her beliefs and Dick Sargent eventually came out as gay, so I always wonder if some of their animosity stemmed from differing beliefs.
I also believe Dick York was a much better Darrin since he was the first to inhabit the role and make it his own while Dick Sargent was trying to be Dick York which didn't work out. Beyond that, Dick Sargent was awkward with Elizabeth Montgomery most likely because of his sexuality.

Dick Sargent seem like he had a sarcastic chip on his shoulder, never liked him in the show. Dick York played his part well.

Yeah, I've gone back and watched more since I posted this video and I'm starting to change my mind a little. I think Sargent must've been the one on when I first started watching the show even though York was the original and that might be why I leaned his way.
