Mechabellum: store.steampow...
A tip I picked up with subsidized units like the Wasps in the second match is that units sell for their true value despite subsidies - so buying wasps and then selling them is an extra 100 supplies a round in exchange for a new unit slot.
Sounds really good
Haha *whaaaaaaaat??* that's a crazy tip, thank you! Definitely gonna use that.
This sounds like an exploit lol
I wonder if the opposite is true with the improved units perk -- they sell for $100 less than what you bought them for
@@DtWolfwood Honestly? I think it's intentional. There are a lot of oddball combinations like that which exist to be found.
Thanks to you I have done nothing but watch Mechabellum matches on my 2nd monitor at work for the last 3 days
Beagle is widely known to be everyone's favorite 2nd monitor streamer!
Man, I love your thought process and explanations, especially owning up to and correcting your own misplays. Really helps us new players learn to self-analyze and improve.
You’re such a good host. You got me dead interested in this game I’d never even heard of and I very much look forward to these vids. I gotta get on them stream vods
Thank you, really glad to hear you're liking it!
the after-round explanations of your and the opponent's strategy and shortcomings/successes was a great addition. especially since this game is just starting to get out there it helps the many new players understand what happened and why it worked/didn't work in a battle.
Really glad to hear it - I'll keep those up, hope they keep helping and being interesting.
Love the videos on this game, especially the explanation of your reasoning behind your decisions.
I am enjoying these videos as is! I also like the sound of the more topic-based videos mixed in with match reviews.
Great to see a couple games in a video! Really starting to adore this game so thanks for showing it off and getting me into it!
I really think the KEY takeaway from both these matches is: the round you took the Armor upgrade on your sledges, you rolled over the enemy. It wasn't even close that round.
These videos are so comfy. I've missed you, beags.
You can almost negate the penalty of Cost Control Specialist with tech upgrade on your Research Tower. It cost 100 each so it is just two rounds and it knock the penalty to just 5%. The ATK penalty wasn't so bad on your army in this one but you can see that your Phoenix needs 2 shots to kill their Markmans instead of just 1. It is pretty bad on high single target damage due to the damage/health breakpoint so be careful with that.
Of course the inverse is also true, if you see someone take CCS to start, immediately spending your starting cash on those upgrades means that if they don't, you'll have an effective 30%* health and 25%* damage advantage unit for unit. (Though of course that won't save you from bad composition/placement issues.)
Edit: *Corrected the ratio on health and damage for enemy being CCS and you taking both upgrades. Poor math off the top of my head was a mistake.
Mustangs: "BOTH BARRELS FOR YOU"
YOU BASTARDS!
It took me over two weeks after picking up mechabellum and watching its content to find you. I am impressed by the quality of your content so I will sub.
Loving the big brain plays and minimal editing, keep it up
In the second game the opponent never really build any tanky frontline units, maybe because they never needed them in the early game since Beagle's comp was almost the complete opposite. When the vulcan's came out in numbers though those mustangs just fell apart. They really needed to pre-emptively spec into emp marksmen to prevent tech armor negating half their army.
Timothy Seals Mechwarrior remixes in the background going hard
I hear that old school command and conquer sound track ;)
Congrats beags, you successfully got me addicted to another great game. Love to see it 🤣.
On another note i found the ability that allows you to displace air units can be really beneficial in changing the pressure against the enemy also the speed boost is a nice touch with it being super cheap to upgrade or free on occasion with some reinforcement cards.(it was free near the end of your last match here 36:35 which i'm not sure if you missed).
Either way thank you for the YT Content and your high-level commentary on the many games you play.
You make this all understandable and easy to learn while you work your magic which is very much appreciated.
MOOORE Mechabellum! at least 4 battles per day!
:O
Sick matches beags
Thank you!
You know, finding out Beagle's been playing Mechabellum has been a blast. But holy fuck, it hurts watching this, just a bit, because the entirety of that massive Mustang horde could have been neutered into inefficiency by buying the Armor upgrade on both Arclights and Sledgehammers. Despite this, it's amazing to see Beagle play a game I picked up apparently at almost the same time as he did :D
In the first match, going split beam on the meltingpoints would probably have helped a lot. Either way it was a really nice match to watch, haven't watched the second match yet.
I think that if he had taken missile interception in response to the Stormcallers in that last game, you would have just taken EMP instead of armor on your Sledgehammers and the result would be the same. Your not getting armor until extremely late in that game lead to overconfidence in the mustang swarm from Walter, so he never had the chance to realize how vulnerable he was and counteract the armor, being dead post the round you took it on three units. If the game had gone into another round, ranked EMP and Extended Range Marksmen could have turned it. But then, you'd have had a pile of resources to work with so could go either way. If Walter had backed the mustangs with (say) EMP Sledgehammers (especially ER ones) of his own to shutdown armor, he could have overrun your army, potentially anyway.
For about 3 rounds there, I was almost screaming at my screen "Get armor on your sledges and Arclights!" but _not_ taking it until it could be decisive actually worked for you here. So, if it'd been intentional it would be a great strategist moment. Funny how those things work out huh?
I do believe in that a lot - that if you can afford it in this game, holding your most slam dunk counter-actions so that the enemy commits even harder to something can be a great trap. Unit upgrades can be an amazing way to do this because you can lay the trap right in front of their eyes for rounds in advance, then switch it on with one technology - a great example of this is using an entire frontline of Fangs as sacrificial chaff to mid-CC like sledges and stormcallers, but then turning on Energy Shields and Range Enhancement and suddenly your entire infantry line just became murderous.
There's a ton of awesome strategy in this game!
I was screaming for range enhancement on the phoenixes in that second round, but things turned out well. Armor enhancement is a beast against the mustangs.
Noticed the crawler split at 14:28 or so, just like we were talking about in yearerday’s stream
Thanks for the EMP Storm Callers strat. I've used it today to get back in a game vs some super healthy balls.
Glad to hear it. Smash those balls.
Wonder if Fortress with Shield could have saved him in that second match. Bringing something that can deal with the armor enhancement while protecting the Mustang Swarms.
But then again, I have never played this game and just saw this pick in the other video about doubling-d...ya know.
no worries beagle. i love cats
Doesn't placing your units so far back make it super easy to lose your towers early?
It definitely can. Ideally you want to have some kind of slower frontline unit up protecting them early on, or be ready to buy some if you get punished.
Loving these videos. I'm definitely picking up this game now.
Been eating up the new content keep it up!
I feel like the mistake was melting points instead of just steel balls, as it was a bit overkill.
The resources couldve been put into something for crowd control, like an overlord with ground cannons and range.
Next time you come across a super tanky enemy, consider units with Ignite. Ignite deals a percentage of enemy health per second, usually 6%, and you can get it on Vulcans, Fangs, and Wasps. I've used ignite Fangs to take out armored Overlords before. Stormbringers also have an Ignite, but it does flat damage instead of percentage.
I always feel like it's too slow. Does it stack? Can you get more than 6% per second?
@@Beaglerush It doesn't stack, but the enemies that get that ridiculous level of health are the enemies that are slow anyways. 6% ignite will take about 16.6 seconds on its own to kill any unit. That sounds like a lot of time, but rounds are longer than they feel. Like, a Fortress can spawn Fangs every 28 seconds. You'd kill it with ignite before it spawned a second wave. All of that is considering Ignite separate from the damage that's causing it, so, percentage Ignite is very good, despite the low number.
A key point in Ignite's favor is that it's damage ignores Armor's damage reduction. So it can be much more effective than you would expect on those units. Also for health linked units, each unit can be ignite'd separately, but the damage they're taking is still going to the linked pool. So a level 1 Vulcan with ignite and good positioning can do shockingly high DPS to linked sledgehammers for example. (As I learned to my horror one bot match.)
Have you customized any units yet? Getting arclights with anti-air capabilities seem very useful.
Lots! I've got customised upgrade sets on all my units. I really like range increase arclights with elite marksman too :)
Im sure the people would like a breakdown video of which upgrades you use! Like you did at the end of stream yesterday
Fuck it we ballin'! That first match was really fun. Crazy that Steel Balls can have lifesteal. I wish I could buy the game right now but way too many games that have recently released, sigh. Definitely it's on my top 5 next games to buy though.
Poorly drawn dog: flames go brrr.
i had to double-check to be certain, but i actually played against this guy too!
I was wondering. On the second match or when the opponent places such an aggressive frontline. Wouldn't deploying small forces on the flank have good chances to punish them for at least a round?
In the first game when you were really far ahead in HP, you probably could have won right then by calling in a nuke and going all in to confirm the victory.
Sir Walter seemed to fall for the classic blunder you did last video. Was doing well with mustangs, and then invested more into it. Then got punished really hard with the armor purchase. That said, the armor upgrade seems generally pretty good? Outside of dedicated single target stuff it seems like the amount of damage it would shave off would start to add up really quick
I cant believe it took you that long to get armor enhancement into a pure mustang army
my suggestion is, i missed the "no!" guy
Interesting, I think you are on to something here as I also use mass recruitment fairly often, but elite recruitment may be far better.
I love your Mechabellum videos!
However, I would also like to ask what background music you use for these. I hear Timothy Seals' MechWarrior 2 stuff and Into the Breach, but I cannot quite put my finger on the rest - I like what I am hearing!
The rest is from Command and Conquer! Tiberian Dawn, Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 1 and 2.
There's also sometimes music from Warcraft 2 and Heat Signature.
@@Beaglerush Thank you! You are the best!
I'm seeing some habits forming. Is there already kind of a meta going, or is this just ...a habit
Wow the clanners look different to what i remember
Is the music from the mech warrior new dawn album?
Yeah!
@@Beaglerush such a good album! Great choice! Ever plan on playing Mechwarrior 5?
Next time go balls from the start insteed of meltingpoint and you win 3 rounds earlier. Especialy if you have the armor on em as well.
Your enemy in the first match needed defnilty emp skill in some units.
Stang gang rise up
In the first round why didn't you go enhanced armor overlord when you have done so in the past?
I like your style of content but my gods do you run a ton of ads >.< makes it unwatchable imo
Sorry to hear that, I just turn ads on without changing anything from YTs defaults
