    I haven't seen a video, reddit post, or anything about installing the alarm / dry contact brown wires. It seems like a great idea to put a light on it so the owner knows it's working. My question about is how to power the dry contacts alarm wire. Can you pigtail off the 24vac? I've only seen one person mention installing it and they alluded to a separate transformer. Have you ever installed the dry contact / alarm feature?

    • @KoolinwithKrauss
      @KoolinwithKrauss  Рік тому

      I’ve never personally installed the feature. The unit does have an LED indicator (but inside the cabinet) it’s also possible to mount this on the outside and be visible from the outside but Do to access not able to on this application!

    I live in the west Palm Beach area of Florida. I have a full/ regular and a mini split system. Does any one live in or around the area who does this install? Thx

    The installation manual I’m seeing suggest installing it “between air filter and cooling coil”. Do I have the wrong info?

    • @KoolinwithKrauss
      @KoolinwithKrauss  2 місяці тому +1

      It does say that, info isn’t wrong. Gives multiple mount positions. Says you can mount it in the inlet side of the fan (shaft side) it’s not a very clear identifier. But does highlight in bold what you are reading.

    Wouldn’t that work better before the evap coil? It would help keep the growth down on the coil?

    • @KoolinwithKrauss
      @KoolinwithKrauss  Рік тому

      With this device the manufacture states to install by the fan inlet (shaft side) I would think since it’s not a typical uv die ice and an ionizer instead

    What keeps this from sweating where you removed the insulation?

    • @KoolinwithKrauss
      @KoolinwithKrauss  3 місяці тому +1

      I cut it pretty tight, if that cabinet starts to sweat there, larger issue at hand. But I’ve installed over 100 of there’s in past 5 years and haven’t had an issue when I go back for maintenances

  • @hawksnest8635
    @hawksnest8635 Рік тому

    using the magnets and placing it on the blower do the same?
    where you placed it is in turbulence area since air is being drawn from both sides and it is not a "air stream" just air getting sucked in. Also cutting out insulation will cause it to sweat, since there is a slight gap caused by the magnets. Also if the airhandler is hoz. nd you mount it on the bottom, and the units drain cloggs up, the i-wave will get wet.

    • @KoolinwithKrauss
      @KoolinwithKrauss  Рік тому +4

      For sure all your points are accurate. Just going with the manufactures instructions that state install at the shaft area of the blower wheel. I’ve installed these for a few years and haven’t had any sweat issues.

    THAT is way too much work….. I install these a lot and that is crazy what your doing. I guess people do there own thing. You could have saved yourself a lot of work by installing in a different way but this video is not something I would show my tech in how to install one.

    • @KoolinwithKrauss
      @KoolinwithKrauss  Рік тому

      Takes about 5-10 minutes not that excessive amount of time and gets it directly into the blower, which is what manual recommends to be the best. I see a ton of of these just slapped on the blower housing even just on top of the A coil which is inadequate.
