I did a research project on the great locomotive chase (the event) I later played this song in band class, and this is the only video ive seen to incorporate the song and the event. Absolutely astonishing!
We’re playing this for my upcoming school band concert, and my band teacher is going to play this video while we play. It’s muted and we’re playing over the video, we’ve managed to sync up during rehearsals, we just have to make sure we sync up during the actual performance
I play trombone and im gonna play this next wednesday, im gonna have so much fun with those glissandos, PLUS the *melody* which trombones NEVER have!!! 😈
As an animator myself as well as the percussionist who played the snare drum for this song at my own school’s spring band concert earlier this year, I’d just like to say phenomenal job. I absolutely love your interpretation of the song’s story and have now been inspired to make my own version as well! Keep up the amazing work 😁
Phenomenal animation! My band concert is tomorrow and we're doing Crazy Train (Yes, THAT Crazy Train), Welcome to The Black Parade and The Great Locomotive Chase. It's gonna be so much fun!
crazy train is a great song, its on my school band's pep band playlist and the trombones (me) get that iconic guitar melody *and* the chorus! now we're gonna play great locomotive chase at our upcoming concert, along with our band contest music from this year (we got 4th for 1A/2A school bands)
im so glad i got to watch the high school band play this when i was in middle school. i still come back to it , and it genuinely gave me chills watching the band play it. especially the bass drum rolls and the snare, plus pipes. genuinely amazing. i let out a breath after i finished this video. this is dare i say phenomenal.
BRO PLEASE READ THIS COMMENT. THE MAN WHO CREATED THIS SONG IS ROBERT SMITH AND HE DIED ABOUT A WEEK AGO. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE MY BAND DIRECTOR HAS PERSONAL TIES TO HIM. RIP TO THE GREAT
Song: Pick a note. Me about to play the loudest low note I’ve ever played on my trumpet with my tuba buddies: *”I have power I should not be trusted with.”* Edit: If you don’t get it, on the sheet music there are two or more whole notes that say “Pick a note” so you can play litterally any note you want to.
This is one of my favorite pieces, and this is the only video I have ever seen that not only makes an amazing animation but also incorporate the scene accurately. Very nice job.
I auditioned for music city drum corps in 2018 (didn’t make it in lol) but I got to be taught music by him, and also shake his hand, and he was a great guy. Of course the show that year was train themed. 😂 guy likes trains
Dude as a trombone player this song was my roman empire i love the part at 3:22 and the glisses. My band director let me play so loud the sound was ugly for them and i enjoyed that so much
Really fantastic piece! It is shown so beautifully and I love the vehicles and characters moving on beat!! This is excellent and I hope you can become even better as an animator.
I’m actually going to be playing this for my concert in like two days great job and this history of the thing is accurate and I love the animation keep up the work
Been a listener to RWS for a long time, but I never saw this masterpiece till today! I really love how you animated some parts in sync to the beat, like the part at 1:29 when the stones were hurled, it matches that bass clar and tuba part lol. Could I ask what app you used to create this project? I'm interested af now!!!
Not historically accurate but cool animation. The Texas chased the General in reverse and neither fell off a bridge. The Texas caught the General after the General ran out of wood and the raiders abandoned the locomotive. They were captured and tried. Several were executed, 6 made a daring escape from an Atlanta prison and 6 were eventually released in a prisoner exchange and were the first recipients of the Medal of Honor

It’s super nice to see an animation of something that has happened in my local area! (I live in Gordon County)

My band director also had personal ties. We played this song, and he passed two days before we performed. He told us our performance was to honor him.
We played this song in band with no idea this happened sad
He made Furioso and we played that in 6th
one of my favorite concert band songs + a sick af animation = MASTERPIECE
I recently played this as the snare player and by no means is it a hard piece but it is so fun lol, highly recommend it as percussion love it
Amazing animation, interesting story, what’s not to love? Incredible 👍🏻👍🏻 (can’t wait to play this song for my concert)
Song: Pick a note.

This is freaking sick! I actually love this. We’re playing this piece for our concert. I’m a horn player so I’m pretty hypes

Genuinely great, the sense of anticipation near the beginning is fantastic
Words cannot describe how much I love this animation
This was so great! The video really describes what's happening in the music itself! Great job! :)
1:30 The tenor sax solo here is amazing it’s just such a vibe
This is one of my favorite pieces, and this is the only video I have ever seen that not only makes an amazing animation but also incorporate the scene accurately. Very nice job.
Fairly accurately
I auditioned for music city drum corps in 2018 (didn’t make it in lol) but I got to be taught music by him, and also shake his hand, and he was a great guy.
Of course the show that year was train themed. 😂 guy likes trains
The General: *stops at the end of the bridge*
The General: now what do we do?? we're trapped here!!
Jokes aside, phenomenal animation.

My Great Great Uncle William Pittenger was one of those Union heroes!
R.I.P The legend, Robert W. Smith
Honestly one of the greatest animation I've ever seen
Dude as a trombone player this song was my roman empire i love the part at 3:22 and the glisses. My band director let me play so loud the sound was ugly for them and i enjoyed that so much

I love this animation but there was only one guy chasing the train not two
HOW DO YOU ONLY HAVE 30 SUBSCRIBERS?!!!
Amazing!!
you may never see this, but i reccomend animating into the storm by robert w. smith
IM PLAYING THIS ON THE 19TH OF THIS THIS MONTH?!?!
Btw name of the train is the general
What did you use to animate?
I used Tahoma2D
Some film company needs to hire you
come back pls
I play flute in this song
If you know the story behind it I am from the town were it happened
The meaning of this song is something not many know but the ending is nice but the animation is not really relating to the song
That’s not how trains work
yes let’s just judge how they worked the trained rather than admiring an actual animation
The ending is so unrealistic
its a cartoon, its not 'sposed to be lol
innacurate but nice animating skills
