I have owned two 86 GSX-R 750's and also two RGV-250's an M and an N model, the N was 1992 and I was lucky enough to get hold of a lot of the factory race kit parts, which I used on the public roads, and it was by far the most thrilling and rewarding bike I have ever owned, and that's saying something because now I ride KTM Dukes which are awesome. when you get that RGV cooking on the corners it is indescribable how much fun and thrilling it is, and it is so safe because it's so light, can get yourself out of trouble with it's handling and powerful brakes...that powerband is addictive !
Riding a 250 rgv is all about fun. I have exactly the same kind of rgv as in this film. Yesterday i was riding it after 2 months and boy i loved the smoke cloud i left behind me in the freeway. The engine wasn't too hot a the time. When you get the engine warmed to normal state, you jus can't stop riding. It's so much fun with the power and superb handling because it's so light. The engine is a corker. Beats most of the bigger bikes on a twisty, narrow road/track. Most beautiful bike ever made.
I have the 93 gsxr from stock and rebuilt the whole thing to suit my style over the years. Its a heavy bike, but i got so used to it. Its so smooth and powerfull. Not long ago I tried a newer bike and realised how much easier it is. I still wouldnt trade it for anything new, its just so much fun jumping on new bikes and use the skills I learnt over the years.
They made the point in commentary..this isn't a race! I bought a new RGV 250P in '93, lovely bike. I also had a Kawasaki KR-1 previous to that. How young is James Hayden!!
Once upon a time, I was schooled by a young Rich Oliver on a TZ250 (I was on a GSXR 1100). He’d always sneak in on those turns……just like this video. Lol
We did many test`s R1 VS aprilia RS 250 2stroke on different roads and we also let both drivers drive both bikes. That 250 had 74hp and 0100km/ bit under 4sec, R1 under 3sec. R1 had higher speed before first curve and used longer time to brake dawn the speed.Speed inside the curves and out was also higher on the 250 and therfore won, so then that 1,5sec the r1 accelerate at the start. Longer staight line, higher speed on R1 because 100-200km/ is much more than 1,5sec difference :)
Guys the RGV its a LEGEND its true that nowadays the modern bikes are much better but guys believe me the RGV its something I have the RG 125 gamma I ride one RGV its something That bike is my favourite bike I wish some I´ll buy one
RGV 250 is a legend!!! I had one of these in 94 and had more fun with it than any of my other bikes. The handling capabilities along with the awesome acceleration/2stroke power band made this an almost impossible opponent to keep up with around any UK rabbit Warren housing estate! Easily tuneable to 70-75bhp! This and the KR1 in my opinion are the best 250 road bikes of all time! I know there's 250 road bikes these days that are quicker and handle better, but the way these bikes delivered the power and the wide grin on your face that occured when you were riding is unbeatable!
@lawman1971b thats because the gixer is too powerful and heavy it needs lots of brake power to slow down, i have a 1100 96 and i can say the gixer overhaul handling is poor.
Hav you ever driven a 1100 WP? these things have maximum torque from 4000 rpm and up. so no need rev the tits off. it is to powerful to rev it up on a track because it is too heavy to corner it properly by modern standards..
i have my own gixxer 1100 oil cooled 91 and a busa, and i drive both bikes on the track so theres no need to tell me storys , i am going to repeat it again this is not the proper way to drive a 1100 gixxer, i know how to drive my bike i dont care about any standars modern or old , there are far better track bikes around but if u have the guts the 11 gixx can be very fast too, i will make a vid and post it.
Inspite of what is aways told about the twostrokes...it seems easyer to ride than the heavy 4stroke in this case. And come on ha ha its horrible...the gsxr should easily won...however it seems to have serious difficulties to win. haha

RGV - RS - NSR - RG .. these are the only bikes that I will buy / ride.. Oops forgot the TZR..
Take a look at Gary Cowans riding on his TZ250, there's a great video of him vs an RGV500 and Honda 750.

nothing we wheel dwn the freeway like a litter bike , period.....and it easier to learn on
now test the rg500
The GSXR is slower on track period ... The RGV is a bike that takes skill.. Practice on you 1100's and then move up to the RGV.
dude, the 1100 rider is not going even at 75% of what this bike can perform
Inspite of what is aways told about the twostrokes...it seems easyer to ride than the heavy 4stroke in this case.

the driver of the 1100 doesn't drive it proper look at the rpm gauge , terrible!
lol for shure, i would kill that rgv whit my 750ccm gsx-r
