As a freestyle pilot china hobbyline is my go to. Im glad you made this video because i trust racing pilots the most when it comes to batteries. You guys actually push them to the limit :)
This is my first year racing but I have been flying for over 2 years. So I'm not full throttle yet around the track so I choose the Tattu 1050 V4 / 1200 V5. I love having the light weight and the same throttle response no mater what lap I'm on 1st or 4th lap I have the same throttle response and no sag.
I'm watching this even though I don't fly drones. I do use Tattu batteries though for my electric bicycle 🚲. Three 6s 22.2v 10k mah 25c & one 4s 14.8v 10k mah 25c in series. They're good batteries.
I have just ordered Geprc mk5 DC - but because I come from DJI FPV combo I have no clue about the batteries. I would like the longest-lasting batteries for sure, that’s my nr 1 focus. Also no cheap/dodgy 💩 I don’t really care about the price. That’s not the hobby where you should be trying to safe as much money as you can to be honest. Just gonna cost you more in the long run. Any suggestions?
@@JonE5FPVso I just received everything last night. How do I know what Target Voltage should I set? I’m trying to charge my batteries for the very first time. I got IMARS Dual charger and these Tattu 1400mah 6s 150c 5.0 batteries. I figure out and seen somewhere that I should set current voltage on 1.4 because it’s a 1400mah battery but I have no clue about Target Voltage 😩 please help 🙏 I beg you I wanna bind it right after and go flying 😂
One other category…longevity I live in a location that I can’t get packs easily. I agree with you about the “C” rating. But I did read in one spot that a higher “C” rating sometimes meant that a batter could handle more cycles. Do you think that is true? I bought the R-line 3.0 when it first came out and haven’t been able to purchase any new packs since. They are still going (I fly about three times a week)…they don’t fly like new. But I am still using them. 🤷♂️
Thank you for the informative video. Just a quick question: For the coffin, would you use TPU to print it (I'm guessing that's what you used), or did you use a different material?
The best and longest lasting battery I've used have been the 100c Ovonics 1550mah 4s. Their 120c 1600 didnt last very long for me, but it's probably a good battery.
I have just ordered Geprc mk5 DC - but because I come from DJI FPV combo I have no clue about the batteries. You think the batteries you mentioned here would work well with it? I found a 4-pack for 70£. I would like the longest-lasting batteries for sure, that’s my nr 1 focus. Also no cheap/dodgy 💩 I don’t really care about the price. That’s not the hobby where you should be trying to safe as much money as you can to be honest. Just gonna cost you more in the long run.
@@NONX01 Did you get the 4s or 6s version?? The batteries I mentioned are great 4s batteries and will work with your quad. I have replaced all of my drone motors with 6s motors and have been using the Ovonics 1300mah and 1550mah batteries. They also work well. I get a lot more flight time with 6s than I ever did with 4s. There are lots of different batteries that work well. I would say that for 5 inch freestyle drones, you want no less than 70c discharge rating, but I wouldn't go below 90c or 100c. I use 70c discharge rated batteries for 3 inch drones and RC cars. 5 inch drones demand a lot of power and the higher the C rating the more power it can deliver. If your drone demands more power than the battery can deliver, the drone can brown-out and fall out of the sky. The battery will also get very hot from being over worked.
@@NONX01 Also, like Jon says here, the C-rating is mostly made-up bullshit, but I have found that when a battery says it has a higher C-rating, it does actually have a higher C-rating. It might not actually be 120c, but the battery labeled 120c will make your drone faster & more powerful than the same brand battery that's listed as 100c.
@@CarbonGlassMan I really appreciate your answer and don’t want to sound ungrateful because it still helps but like I said I’m clueless so all these acronyms are like black magic to me. I’m also not a native English speaker so it’s even more intimidating 😂 Would you just please mention one or few actual batteries that in your opinion gonna be the best for my quad and then I can google and then order? 🙏 Yes I do have 6s DC version, PNP with O3 system and will use DJI goggles v2 and DJI controller 2 with it ( I did read that I can use both 6s and 4s with it ). I do not care about the money. I have 9 DJI FPV batteries and each one was 150£~ so I really don’t care if it’s 60£ bat or 30£ bat, I would rather pay more even if its only slightly worth it. I also don’t need super power to go super fast cos I have been flying and will still be flying on 30” angle ( which is relatively high but with DJI FPV it still doesn’t go that fast cos max speed is 87mph, but I know Geprc on 30” degrees will feel like a freaking speed of sound so I don’t need extra higher power on top of that 😂 like i mentioned before the “flight time” is hands down most important thing for me. Is there any option with any battery to be able to fly around 8-10min? Or absolute maximum is that 5-6min like I read everywhere? 😞 Once again: really appreciate your quick response ❤️
@@CarbonGlassMan right after responding to your notification I have read the John’s one from here and he suggested Tattu 1400mah 6s 5.0 - I’m gonna trust the guy and order it but would also love to hear your opinion on the battery or maybe you have better alternatives in your opinion? If I won’t be happy with the Tattu’s I’m just gonna order yours next then 🙏👌
Rline 1550 150c or Rline 1400 150c, buy some of either one of them 2 and stick with them i wouldn't bother going any lower or higher TBH, you just loose the feel for your quad and you want to get the feel for the way it fly's and keep that feeling so you know how your drone is going to perform every time you use it and get used to it... going smaller to bigger vise versa just messes the whole feel for your quad up i think?.. What about everyone else?
discharging if the battery is full, you want to lower the charge down to storage voltage or 3.8v / cell. You should not leave batteries fully charged, or fully discharged. Storage voltage for leaving them between flights.
