Very nicely done Dennis. Rick Stivers has taught me to appreciate spincast reels and I actually own two of them. My favorite is an under spin model that Rick gave me. I looked on my catalog of my collection and found that I have 7 maroon Shakespeare reels. Most are Sea Wonder reels. Great video my friend! Happy Memorial Day. My father was a WWII veteran who was part of the 82nd Airborne that went into Nazi Europe the night before D-Day in a glider. He only lived 29 years after the war passing at the age of 48. . I am very proud of him. - Chris
Thanks for sharing Chris!
I just love these old Closed Face Reels. I have about 4 I need to send in . Thanks Dennis for choosing to feature this ole Gem from the past !
You bet - You were the first person I thought of while I was making the video - Best wishes - Dennis
Nice old Spin Cast Reel .
I love it - The engineering is incredible
Solid reel. I had you clean and service an American made zebco 404 about 2 years ago. My 8 year old son uses it now.
Glad to hear it is getting a 2nd Chance - Thanks again - Dennis
I know this question may be odd, but does anyone still manufacture vintage reels?
the closet I could get to a simple answer is no, most older companies have changed hands, closed, and their reels are made in Korea etc. There are a few Penn higher end reels still being made in the U.S. that are close to the same as the originals made back in the day
@seymourwrasse3321 Thank you for the information.
There are a few companies that produce a retro, but the volume is very low.
Penn claims to still produce these reels in the USA.
Some Senator Series reels are still USA made
International Series
Z Series
Penn Torque II
Thanks for the added comments.

1765 i bought will not release when cast out ? white button will not stay down ?
Sounds like the top catch is sticking. Remove the cone and then the bell underneath. Soak the underside of the peel with a penetrating oil. That should free up the catch mechanism and restore the performance - Dennis
@@2ndChanceTackle will try top catch ?
the spring
Got it ! thanks
nice old reel
Sure is! Talk about over-engineering. You could run over the case with your car and it would still work!
