Me or someone else choking is one of my biggest fears. I've done loads of first aid training but it doesn't make me feel better. This video is both triggering but i must watch it to learn as much as possible to prevent someone dying
I have to agree. Even talking about choking makes me uncomfortable. It's one of the most frightening things by my standards.

Sad thing, I actually choked before. Out of all my life experiences, I'd say that one in particular was the absolute scariest in my life. Luckily my Mom new basic First Aid. Afterwards it was difficult to swallow water due to my saliva being in a state like a thick mucus substance. So after spiting up that substance, I was able to swallow water. Mind you it was a fairly big chunk of beef. I'm a teenager so I'm scared to die. I got a lot to live for.
Generally I find the no 1 rule of not choking to death is not panicking. Unless it's significantly blocking your breathing then it's not a life threatening issue and you freaking out is just going to make it much worse.
This Christmas I had a seemingly splintered Turkey bone stuck in my throat. Just slowly swallowed it and it was fine. Probably passed it already but I haven't noticed.

This happened to in high school on a field trip to a science center. I was with two others but they could not figure out what was wrong, even though one of them was an Eagle Scout. I could feel myself getting groggy, so I did the only thing that occured to me. I walked to a drinking fountain about ten feet away and jumped as hard as I could onto the fountain nozzle, stomach-first. I hit hard and knocked the remaining air out of my lungs along with a chunk of pizza crust I inhaled. I could have died that day and the memory is very vivid, even though it was 35 years ago.
I just realized that I need to learn this, I just choked on my drink and everyone is asleep. Luckily I was coughing

Thanks to this I learned a lot .
Just know that the average human adult has about 5 minutes of air in it. You don’t want to panic as you won’t die immediately. You have time to call 911 and then attempt the dislodge. Another thing to try is to exhale as powerfully as you can. It might dislodge the debris. Obviously the abdominal thrusts are the important part so do those quickly.
You can also create a powerful suction in the upper respiratory system - above the throat, in the mouth and nose. I don't know if it's strong enough to dislodge the obstruction, but it requires no action from the lungs ... only from the tongue and throat muscles. On a related note: using the tongue and mouth it is also possible to breathe in situations without the need to use the diaphram.

just a note, after the abdominal thrusts, its recommended to see a doctor incase of bruising or internal bleeding.
This happened to me once while I was working alone. One of the scariest things I’ve ever experienced. Had just enough air left to call for help. Got rushed to the ER and they were able to fully pass the gigantic vitamins through my throat. Not fun ha.
As a 11 year old I have severe throat problems and I am trying to act fast and I can talk and yell but I can’t because I’m gagging

tbh i've choked like 20 times and the thing that saves me is a cup of water i just stay silent when im chocked then i quickly grab a glass of water and drink and the stuff in my throat slowly drains down to my stomach

It happened to me 2 days ago , it was the most terrifying experience of my life , I have this problem of not shewing food enough and eating big portions at the same time and usually i fix it with water that is always next to me so I was eating chicken and it happened again only this time the water couldnt fix it its stuck , i drink water but i throw it without moving the chicken and then all of the sudden i started having difficulties breathing thankfully my best friend who is also my roommate was there and he perfomed the heimlich then he asked me to breathe which i did and it finally went though , this is no joke be careful when eating especially people who dont shew well like me , im grateful i wasnt alone because if i was alone i wouldve panicked and who knows what wouldve happened , my best guess is getting out of the apprtment and starting knocking on neighbours doors

Literally few days ago i was by myself and started choking but luckily i had a cough and ended up coughing out the food i was choking on
I’ve choked while being alone and just stick my hand down my throat, I don’t know how but it’s worked.
Another way of dealing with this, if pressing your belly isn't enough, use the back of a chair(if you have a chair with one) , bend it over and press your belly against it, your whole body will have more force then your both arms.
Or run to someone in the street, or a neighbor Or try do grab something that might help you apply more force to your belly. It's really not easy to survive this by yourself. I know what I'm talking about, I have an esophagitis, I almost died (where I lost consciousnesses because of a lack of oxygen)at least 2 times , even though I'm careful to not speak with something in my mouth. Choking on some meat that is not even 5mm wide is no joke.
If i was alone i would go on my knees and let my self fall on the chest. Mayeby that would help.

If you are watching this and you’re scared I legit just choked today on a burger I couldn’t breathe but I just started drinking Fanta and it literally just goes down instantly I honestly am shocked adults/teens die from this I mean fair enough if your like young and don’t know anything but just drink anything liquid and it unclogs I’ve tried this 3 times when I was choking and it works every time

Having some this but with ham a few years ago, I can tell you this. Either pull the thing out or belly flop on the floor like a panicked fish.
But I have met a few folks to choke on their own spit frequently. It’s terrifying, but in my experience, the Heimlich made it worse. It’s better for them to remain calm where they can take slow, deep breaths, and then try to cough it up. Excitement causes everything to be worse.
