How to make a Wooden Bowl (With a Router)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 лют 2019
- I needed some small bowls or trays to hold parts so of course, I decided to make some. I used some scraps of wood and a bowl and tray bit in my router to make these wooden bowls. In order to make this repeatable in the future, I also made a complete set of wooden templates for them. They came out great. These would make great gifts, and could also be used in the kitchen once your finish is completely cured.
Here's the link where you can get the printable template. www.homebuiltworkshop.com/dow...

I am new to woodworking but I have played guitar for 45 years. I was scratching my head a few days ago about how to make a pick shaped template to make some boxes with tops because l have begun my woodworking career making bandsaw boxes, this helps me allot and I appreciate it.
Awesome! I'm happy it was helpful.
Great idea to use up some scrap wood, beats burning it.
Great project, one of the rare use of a "free style" router use. All best from Germany
Tks.from Miami Fl.
Thank you!
Neat idea to put magnets in the base...
Those are EPIC!!! The way you snuck those magnets in there was impressive. If I free handed those cut outs, it would have gone very, very differently.
Those will be great for all my guitar pics !!! Nice job!!
Great idea
Finally something to do with those guitar body off cuts. You can store only so many of those until they become firewood for the neighbor. Good idea Jeff. The multi piece one is the best looking IMHO. Course I laminate all my necks.
Even though they are cut offs, I hate to throw them out. I had to figure out something to do with them.
Great idea, I can make them to sell or for gifts.
Oh yeah. They'd make great gifts.
Nice work, great bowls. Thanks for all the great idears!
First time listening, excellent instruction. Hope to catch some more soon
Very nice bowls. Like you mentioned they would be great in the kitchen for party snacks, dip etc. Enjoy your videos every time.
Oh yeah. Multi use for sure. Take your screws out of them, and fill it with salsa! Now I want salsa.
Beautiful
Great job
Bloody well done mate 👍🏻👍🏻
It's so nice and clean idea. Gratitude
Thanks a lot
Great work!
Nice! Good work.
Great looking bowls/parts trays, Jeff !
Thank You.
Nice Job
Awesome ideas!!!!!
Awesome idea! I'll build a few of these to help me stay more organized...long past due lol.
Very cool project. I think I'll make a bunch for Christmas presents for next year! Thanks for the idea!
I'll probably do the same thing.
Nice. Hoping you have a great 2019 with your new venture Mr. Baker.
Thank You very much.
I love u dude, that is amazing work and awesome shop. I'd dream to be your apprentice. Your a great teacher. Thank u for your time!!
Thanks Man! Thanks for checking it out.

Glad I could help

Thanks Sean!
Hey, I’m from Moline (live in CA now.) Like the hoodie!
Really like this project, going to make some of those very soon!!!
Awesome, Thanks. Thats one of my favorite places to visit. I believe thats where the hoodie came from.
Nice work. do-able for a beginner. Thanks :-)
Thanks. Its pretty simple to make.
Very cool.. you could use this/these as a coaster holder, and make coaster that fit inner profile. Another possible use anyway. Keep up the good work
I like this idea. I may have to try that.
Nice looking bowls Jeff! Thanks for the upload.
Why thank you. I appreciate it.
nice job
Thanks!
Hi Jeff, they came out very nice. Bought those bits for my router a while ago just not managed to get around and use them lol
Oh, you've got to try them. They are fun. Theres tons of ideas for them.
You look like the comedic actor "Chris Elliott" in Groundhog Day!!
I've heard that before. It would be cool to meet him
Love them!! Btw, as the video started i saw the bowls and thought, "Oh, those need magnets to hold screws". 10 seconds later, you said the samething lol
Great minds think alike!
excellent thanks for posting did you use a bit extender
Nice work, great idea for plectrum shape. What type of oil did you use? Gave great sheen on finish!
You could make lids for those with tiny magnets in them and have gift boxes!
Oh yeah. great idea.
Very cool! If you get a chance, can you post a link in the description to the type of oil you used to finish the project?
Sure thing. crimsonguitars.com/store/penetrating-guitar-finishing-oil/
Hello from Ireland. Love your projects and videos. Can I just ask what the darker wood is that you used please? Thanks. Shane.
Thats Mahogany.
Fantastic video, Jeff! I truly enjoyed it, and what an outcome!
I've been thinking about making something similar, but perhaps with the shape of a guitar body 😊
What finishing oil did you use? That finish is looking shiny and gorgeous!
Hope to hear from you.
Have a great weekend.
Cheers 🍻
Yep. I thought about that as well. Go for it.
@@homebuiltshop - Thanks for the reply, Jeff!
Yeah, I'm going to have a go at it, soon!
The oil you used, for the finish, was that the Crimson Penetrating Guitar Finishing Oil?
Thanks, man!
Looking forward to more video.
Cheers.
Show!😍🇧🇷
Love that finish, where can I get that ?
Here is where I got it.

Hey! Just found your video.
I’m looking at making a serving tray, I had purchased a template. Need to get the bit you used, but I don’t have a plunge router. (Just a normal one) will that still work? I thot I would just lower the bit little by little. Thank you!
Yes, your process will work. Just lower the bit a little bit each time.
Hi Jeff,👍👏👏
Hey there friend, How are you doing?
@@homebuiltshop Watch yuor video 👏👏👏
It would be a good thing if you were to say how much you sell them for.
I’ll order a couple, are they for sale?
I have one of them listed on my website. If you're interested in more, please email me. homebuiltshop@gmail.com. Heres the link to the one. www.homebuiltworkshop.com/shop/
I thought applying the finish with a paper towel would leave paper "nibs" on the surface but obviously it works for you. What keeps the paper towel from disintegrating? I have heard of others using blue shop grade paper wipes and I suspect they are stronger.
The paper towels seem ok for quick work. I doubt it would last a super long time. The blue shop towels are stronger. I have used them as well.
