- 'The Little Engine enjoys life on her mountain railway, but one day, something changes. Gradually, as the seasons move on, all of a sudden her mountain home doesn't seem to be as comforting as it once was.'
And now for something completely different...
There were quite a few things I wanted to try out with this video, chief of which is to make a completely original, standalone story separate from anything, and also write something that was very much like a fairy tale. Something even more detached from the railway realism than even Awdry's earliest stories.
I think I pulled it off, and I am very proud of how this video turned out.
Also 2016 is the year I gained a new appreciation for Narrow Gauge, I think visiting the Talyllyn Railway and moving to Wales for uni may have had a fair bit to do with that.

I imagine the more interesting alternative would be the engine visiting the Culdee Fell on Sodor instead. ;)

This was a superb little film! It was so gentle and sweet, and the Little Engine's journey from railway to railway was handled really well. I was really glad to see her get taken on by the Lakeside Railway, and her relationship with her driver was short but very sweet. Michelle did a wonderful job narrating this and I hope to hear her in more productions.

Lovely, LEGENDARY shots of the film and a great story line. The engines were certainly pleasant and interesting. And this is a kudos attempt at making a standalone story from Thomas, nothing else to improve cause this is one "rocking" story and detailed filming!

Quite a tranquil story that never runs out of steam at any time so to speak. Achieves exactly what it's meant to; you really do feel a connection with her railway. I'm almost sorry I couldn't visit it in real life being fictional and all but still lovely story all round :)
Thanks man, and funnily enough the route I used to make this video was based on the Snowdon Mountain Railway and Llanberis Lake Railway, so technically you could visit it in real life. ;)

This is brilliant - I'm surprised I've only just now discovered this. Everything about it was amazing, especially Michelle's voice acting which was absolutely on point as usual. Keep up the good work, man. This one is going into my favorites :) Splendid job!

Though a sequel is not going to happen. I quite like this being a standalone story, and even if I did want to make one. I destroyed the route to make the snow scenes, and as it's no longer available, I can't redownload it to fix it. :P
Why not attempt at rebuilding it?

Nice video,quite true to life in as much as few trains run at Christmas due to strikes,engineering works and bad weather.
Thank you, though funnily enough the Snowdon Mountain Railway has run in the past even when it's snowed. In this particular story I try and make it more the fact that it's the first snow the mountain railway ever experienced, and so there's a lack of not knowing quite what to do in the weather.

very good video I like it I like the story. it reminds me of the story of one of the old railroad lines here in the USA when it was still running with the age of steam. Until the diesel locomotive took over the Regent. there was one such as the railroad of the Southern Pacific Railroad had a Narrow Gauge line period and had two locomotives SP number 1 and SP number 2. I like Narrow Gauge railroads as well as standard gauge railroads and alignment of gauges of different railroad lines. you have a good year I like your video very much and made me happy. I've had difficult times of my family so I hope you have a good year. you make me happy

Finally an original story I really like that's not just a remake of a TV series or such.
It's a shame it's a one off, but then again, that's what makes it just as enjoyable.
Beautifully animated, and the narrator is wonderful to listen to.
I say this deserved to be up there with the like "Over the Hill" and such.

Snowdon Mountain Railway not very important? How dare you :P. I really enjoyed this story, had that comedic feel. Llanberis Lake Railway was the railway being built across the road which goes from Gilfach Ddu to Llanberis then onwards to Penllyn before returning back to Gilfach Ddu 😀😀. I've been on the Llanberis Lake Railway once and it's very nice. never been on the Snowdon Mountain as it's very expensive, though I'd like to go one day. my favourite railway is the Rheilffordd Eryri (Welsh Highland) as it's a very scenic line through Snowdonia. I actually live in Wales, and I saw in the desc that you have moved here to go to uni. I do hope that you'll enjoy your time in Wales as it really is a very beautiful place. wow, this was in a few words, spectacular, stunning, and heart warming, what a quaint little film superb ! the voice actor fitted this sequence of film amazingly, i hope to see more on this superb little line, and if so, a little thought, maybe connect the two railways, not to make it one long line, but to make crossings and visits of both the mountain railway engine, and the two lake side engines more frequent, well done on this.

While the thought of continuing the story is nice, I'm quite fond of it as a standalone piece. In any case I kinda ruined the route filming the snow scenes, so it's unlikely I'd ever be able to use it again. :P
how does one ruin the film during snow scenes? it was sublime, fitted everything perfectly, and fair enough, would be nice to see some continuation on this but its your choice :), still congrats on an amazing piece again keep up the good work
Rather simply actually, the route's really old so it doesn't have changes in weather for the different season's like most railworks routes. Meaning I had to paint the snow and raise the terrain manually, and delete most of the green foliage. And as I couldn't duplicate the route file without the game crashing, yeh I had to physically destroy the route to make it look snowy. :P

Probably not, I quite like this being a standalone story. Admittedly I said the same thing about Percy Does the Thing and now that's turned into a trilogy. But in all seriousness, I kinda ruined the route in order to film this, so I couldn't return to it even if I wanted to. :)

Vincent Berkan I think, as with real life, the Snowdon rack isn't compatible with the Llanberis and there is a roundabout and station to get through as well
Thanks man, and it's simply cause two different companies own each railway, and with two different tourist goals in mind. One's touring the lakeside, the other's climbing up a mountain. The two lines don't really need to connect. Plus, while the little engine can visit the lakeside railway, the other two would be pretty useless on the mountain line. :P

It's a fictitious version of the Llanberis Lake Railway and Snowdon Mountain Railway, the route used to be available on UKTS, but it's not there anymore.
are the engine voices supposed to be welsh, because they sound sort of Indian, and i get that as when i try to do Welsh, it turns to Indian somtimes
Narrator here! They're meant to be Welsh, yes, and I see what you mean. My Welsh accent still being workshopped, I actually only started attempting to do it this year, so it nees practice to sound more authentic and consistent. I'll get there! But yeah, it's funny how one voice can sometimes easily transition into another, isn't it? Happens to me all the time. XD

It was a bit of a double-edged sword with this story, as the mountain engine's basis is Indian, so she got an Indian accent, but the other NG engines are Welsh. So it was basically inevitable to have some overlap, but I thought Michelle had a very good shot at distinguishing the two different if oddly similar accents. :)
