There he is!!! I must have missed that on my first time through. OK good, at least they had him present for this. Man, his vocals were so damn good in this.
Louis Cato is a groove Monster! Saw him on the drummer's seat for Snarky Puppy in Germany once. He plays literally every instrument. Switched from drums to guitar in Stephen Colbert's late night band, but he's a phenomenal bassist as well... and he can SING!

Thanks brother! Man, I was shocked and delighted at the time the instant he started singing. Wow!
That cover is so great it must be the greatest cover Scary Pockets ever did! Starting out relatively close to the original tune but the feel is already very different. Then in the middle part they ramp it up a notch, take more liberties with everything. And then the climax with all the soloing and improvised vocals. Lastly a little cool-down section and then suddenly they all end on the same beat and you just sit there, feel good about yourself but at the same time you don't know what just hit you.
Right?! SO well done. THAT’S how to do a remake!
The keyboard player in the ballcap is Jack Conte....CEO of Patreon...he and his wife have another band, Pomplamoose. So many great Scary Pockets covers out there. They release new material all the time.
I remember Pomplamoose from YEARS ago. I really like them.

Such a sick track. Some of my favorite Cory Henry videos i'm sure you'd like: NaNaNa, Jammcard Cory Henry and the Funk Apolstles featuring B Slade, Also his version of Billie Jean and Purple rain are what really made me fall in love with him (and the metropole orkest). All of these feature him singing and I agree i think Cory has such a great voice! He should showcase it more!

Also love the lettuce version of this... Discovered lettuce years ago going down the Fred Wesley rabbit hole. Fred lives in Manning, SC and his son, Victor, and I went to music school together. BTW... I'd love for you to check out Brian Culbertson. Guy is amazing on Trombone and keys. He's like a white guy mix of Trombone Shorty and Cory Henry. Back in the day & so good is the tune you should listen to first.

Man, I haven't played professionally in years... I had to quit for family reasons and then I became disabled. I still teach some free lessons here and there to kids that want help. But performing is something I haven't done in the digital age. But I still listen to great stuff, and I will always send you stuff I like.

I was a rock lover: Scorpions, Judas Priest, and AC/DC), I also listened to a lot of Pink Floyd, Saga, Supertramp, The Police, Toto, Tears for Fears, Whitesnake, Triumph, Rainbow, and a few others. I wasn't too much of a Queen lover in the early 80s, but I learned to appreciate their music in the following years.

Good musicians, but this is one of the few songs that should be left alone. We neet that original bass and drum drive . . . .
They really are two songs to me. Nothing will ever change how I feel about the original! 😊😊😊
