    I was where he was at about 2 weeks ago. I have been sick for a while due to thyroid issues and doctors blowing me off. I had no energy to even do my hair. When I finally got seen by a competent doctor and they ran a battery of tests I was able to get on the proper dose of medication. I was able to go to my hair dresser who I haven't seen since I was 17 or so and get my ends trimmed. My hairdresser said my hair was essentially healthy besides the ends. Don't make fun of people who are depressed or sick because they can't do their hair or it gets out of control. We all go through things. The main thing is this man saw it was an issue and he has gotten help for it. 😊

      @@Jojodancer20100 I feel a little better since I got my hair trimmed and done. It actually shocked me because my beautician said my hair was in healthy shape which was odd. I told her I was losing hair at certain spots in the front of my head at the hairline. So my thyroid medicine must be working. Thank you for asking. 😊

    I remember I just washed my hair from having a braid out without detangling first. You know I thought the warm water would saturate my hair and I would be good. NOT! I will NEVER wash my hair without detangling ever again. It was so tangled I felt like just shaving my head and starting over- I didn’t but I felt like it. Lesson learned

      Omg I made a similar mistake! I decided not to derange my hair after a three strand twist out and I just got right in the shower. It was horrible, I wanted to cry. I had to slowly finger detangle and use my shower brush. I couldn’t believe how my hair was acting, never again.

      @@chellhouston2399 Man. It's a lot! Detangling is so important. back in the 90s when we wore those darn Brandy braids for 12 weeks ( a school term), we all knew taking them out was a full day process. One to take them out and 2 to comb through all of our hair with a fine-toothed comb!!! Lol! Now I still use a seamless fine-toothed come to detangle my one inch sections every 4-6 weeks. I start with fingers and a wide-toothed and a medium toothed seamless comb first and finish with the fine-toothed one.

    I learned the hard way that it's best for me to brush my hair out as I'm taking the style down. Especially with braids. Protective styles only really work if you take them out properly. Otherwise you just end up with your hair in a worse spot than it was before you put it in a protective style. In my situation it was braided because that's what works best for my hair type. I start at the ends with a rat tail comb to get the braid out. Then I go through with a detangling brush. I also take a wide comb to get the conditioner all the way through my hair.

    • @marleyhill34
      @marleyhill34 3 роки тому +1

      I have ultra-fine hair and high density. If I don't actively prevent tangles, breakage and knots at unreal levels. I can't feel everything with my fingers unfortunately so I start with fingers, then wide tooth, then medium tooth, then fine tooth and then the tangle teezer for fine and fragile hair. I do this every 4-6 weeks with my strong protein treatment on damp conditioned hair and then dust my ends. other wise my hair is a mess!

      Why from end to root ? Is it wrong the other way ? 🤯

    • @PAposter
      @PAposter 3 роки тому +35

      @@dr.diorcardiologist Yes, it’s wrong. The hair is generally matted closer to the root. It is easier to detangle from the thinner hair at the ends and work your way up. Trying to rake through the thickest, most tangled area of the hair will result in a large amount of hair loss and pain. Try it both ways and you’ll see which is easier, less painful and produces less hair loss. 🙂

    She didn't do any ripping the ends broke off because they were dead. None of the hair came from his scalp hos is long. You can see the dead hair falling off. And you can tell by the part he kept his hair in two braids for a very long time. Those ended would've needed to be cut anyway, better they fell off in the process .she did a great job.

    By the look at that middle part it seems as if his hair was done too tight which will definitely cause breakage and extra shedding of the hair. This has happen to me before. I won’t blame the shedding on the detangling process. Could it have been better sure but it’s not solely the detangling. It’s whoever put the braids in.

      My hair is very fine so if I use a very large toothed comb and fingers, I will not get all of the shed hair and knots out. So my detangling starts with fingers, then a wide-toothed seamless comb, then a medium toothed seamless comb and then a fine-toothed seamless comb. I do this every 4-6 weeks along with my strong protein treatment so my hair can take the wear and tear of combing. I also detangle on one-inch sections. Much smaller than the sections she did in this video.

      That was me in 2017! The stress I was under that year! I used the Olaplex shampoo conditioner and leave in. Got a heat protection spray from Sally’s and bought the Rev-air dryer. Since the dryer kept my hair very smooth it didn’t tangle as much. It’s going to take a long time to regrow the hair I lost. I used a light castor oil with rosemary drops in it. It seems to work great on my baby hair but slower on other areas🤷🏽‍♀️

So I decided to put someone after I took my braids out I let it sit for about 30 minutes and then try to detangle my hair and OMGGGGGGG!!!!! So much of my hair fell out it was crazy, I've never lost that much hair ever. I'll never put anything in my hair until I comb it out first, maybe a little conditioner but I'm scared.

    This is my son's texture exactly and I ended up cutting it into a manbun cut so I didnt have so much to work with at one time. It's still alot. Lol but atleast it's more manageable for me to do. His style of choice is usually single braids with two strand twists at the ends. I wash his hair with the braids in to get to his scalp and keep it detangled throughout the wash and condition process. 🤷🏽‍♀️ His hair is now down his back mostly due to his hands off approach to hair care... needless to say, his hair gets like this alot. Lol Loved watching someone else go through this process. 😍

    • @marleyhill34

      I have ultra-fine high-density hair. My hair breaks easily. Trust me his hair is not being ripped off completely. There is no way to get out matting without using a fine toothed comb. I use a seamless fine tooth comb on my hair to detangle every 4-6 weeks. my hair doesn't get ripped out. To start my hair rarely matts because I detangle every week. I start with fingers, then a wide-toothed seamless comb and then a medium tooth seamless comb. Only then on week 4,5 or 6, I will use the fine-tooth combe and the tangle teezer for fine and fragile hair. All that hair that is coming out is shed hair.

    What is better for washing/ taking care of recently detangled curly hair... moisture/deep conditioner or clarifying?

    • @marleyhill34
      @marleyhill34 3 роки тому

      Rotation. Week 1 use moisture shampoo and deep conditioner. Week 2 use light protein shampoo and deep conditioner. Week 3 moisture. week 4 light protein. week 5 moisture. Week 6 clarify and chelate and check that hair is protein and moisture balanced. That's for the hair. For the scalp, if you have a problematic scalp, you need a different regimen. Dandruff, psoriasis, etc or sensitive scalp like me a treatment shampoo, scrub or conditioner

      @@mming4351 You're welcome. i'm trying to pass on the knowledge. The sad thing is that none of my black stylists from the 90's until now told ever told me this. I read the curly girl handbook in 2010 and then I read the science of black hair in 2011 and then my white Aveda stylist with straight pink hair told me that my hair needs protein. Then I watched Ateya Rich on UA-cam to learn about Aphogee. Then in 2019 my black trichologist and her mixed/bi-racial daughter told me to stop putting raw oils and butters on my scalp and hair and shampoo with sulfates more!! The trichologist also told me that my ultra-fine hair was too fragile to put in cornrows with or without extension hair! My hair had been in cornrows since I was 3 years old! that explains why it never grew past my shoulders!
