No money, no cgi, but we.have a lot of actors who can kick ass.
This scene alone is the definition of crossover, chaos, and entertainment! Imagine the audience's reaction when seeing this in theaters. I bet some were on the edge of their seats, this is pure gold!
The stuntmen and women in Hong Kong were absolutely the best because of the choreography and meticulous planning and rehearsals! They made it much safer for themselves than it looked from the viewers perspective! Only the best martial artists could pull it off! Cindy and Norton were part of a small group of westerners with the skills! Thankfully everyone else in the industry have risen to the task 20 years later. Film school stage fighting classes are actually pretty good now compared to a few years ago!
That entire clip was pure perfection. So that's what happens when your cast is full of legitate martial artists.
The Katana to the dudes nuts made me yell outloud. I totally felt that shit lol

Such an underrated film by Sammo Hung. An amazing ensemble cast of martial artists and amazing fight choreography.
This film never gets old. I have the movie on DVD and still have it.

This is the fight scene I wanted when I was watching Shanghi Noon
Hwang Jang Lee was one of the most complete leg fighter.
You can see him doing all kinda kicks and his moves were unbelievable, even today it feels amazing.
He trained Korean army taekwondo and Tang-soo-do before entering Hong Kong cinema.
Casanova was national Taekwondo champion.
Flash kicker- Tao-liang Tan was World taekwondo champion.
These korean guys were in better shape compared to the Chinese actors of that era.
Tao-liang Tan is the guy Who trained Taiwanese Chinese actor John Liu.
For me would be Yuen Biao, his kicks are straight and strong, and he's agile and acrobatic as well. It's ashamed he wasn't a bigger star outside of Hong Kong.
Hwang Jang Lee also played the main villain in the first Drunken Master movie with Jackie Chan which was what made him famous back in the late 70s.
The Best Martial Arts Movie ever, all best fighters in the same movie great: Sammo hung, Yuen Biao, Dick Wei, Hwang Jang Lee, Richard Norton, Cynthia Rothrock, Yukari Oshima, Yasuaki Kurata, Lam Ching Ying, Phillip Ko , James Tien, Bolo Yeung, .....and more

There aren't really anymore martial arts action stars left. It's just Donnie Yen and Scott Adkins. Oh! And Micheal Jai White. Everyone got old. I miss Keith Cooke, Loren Avedon, Gary Daniels, Cynthia Rothrock, Sammo Hung, Billy Blanks, Yuen Biao, Jackie Chan and so on😭

Honestly, the action stars of today are indie film and internet stars really. It really boomed during the late 90's and 2000's around the time of the matrix movies. Go on UA-cam and see the good stuff is still out there, just not on the main screen

Definitely Tony Jaa, but to me, Max Zhang seems to lack charisma.
Hwang Jang Lee is Korean portraiting Japanese Samurai along side with Yukari Oshima & Yasuaki Kurata. Didn't know he & Sammo Hung can also spoke Japanese.

When martial arts movies were good. I still prefer the era where HongKong martial art movies were still a thing, these days Chinese movies aren't that good.
Donnie Yen is still alive..but you are right the best actor are vanishing from our TV screen. It's really sad.

That's because Mainland China doesn't know how to PERFECT Martial Arts, like Hong Kong.
Even Mainlanders Jet Li + Wu Jing kick-started their careers in Hong Kong.

Dude, that guy plays the main villain in a lot of Shaw Brothers films. His fight coragraphy is a lot better in those films. Best example would be the fight in the movie Martial Club, if you want to see just how good he is.

This movie was an all-star cast, at the end of the film those famous martial arts superstar arrived in the scene, to show their support for the film It was very nostalgic, that it never happened again.
Technically Expendables did it, but not really on the same level on the fights as the actors got much older by the time they decided to make that franchise.

theone itself seems like the Lau family was also missing here: frequent Sammo Hung co-star Lau Kar Wing, Pai Mei himself Gordon Liu and the legendary Lau Kar Leung, all seems to be absent here.
there's only 3 Kung Fu stars. the rest are karate guys from Western work or japan
