      I really wanted to include Kane Creek in there. Depending on how you score, if it was based on scenic views, Kane would be #1 on my list. Cool Trail. But these 5 are easily the attention getters and what people drive out for.

      I've been out to Moab four times now. Including this past June 2020. I don't own a rig, so I rent a Rubicon 4-door (with 3" lift, rock rails, 37s) from a shop on the main drag. During those first three visits, I did all of the easy stuff because I was by myself. Onion Creek, Dome Plateau, Hurrah Pass/Chicken Corners, Potash Road, Long Canyon, Mineral Bottom, Spring Canyon, Bartlett Wash/Hidden Canyon and Gemini Bridges. Some scary heights, but nothing technically moderate or difficult.
      But, this past June, I had the fortune of being with six other people and two other Jeeps. The one couple has been to Moab probably 30 times. Matt made this trip for all of us. He was an expert spotter. He and his wife took us on Fins & Things, Hell's Revenge and Top of the World. It was a great trip. And, I figured out that I have a sense for driving some of these trails. But, having said that, I'm still not trying Pritchett Canyon anytime soon!
      Thanks for posting this video. As a newbie to driving the more strenuous trails, I can't really rate your video as there are so many trails in the Moab area. I did love the overlook at Top of the World, but the bumpiness of the trail became tedious after a while. Fins & Things was pretty cool. Loved going down Tricky Hill (I didn't know these obstacles had names). But, I would have to say I liked Hell's Revenge the most of the three "tougher" trails we did that week. We didn't do Escalator or Hell's Gate, but the overlook at the Colorado River was very cool.
      I was white-knuckling a bit when I saw nothing but blue sky climbing this rock on Fins:

    I've driven all the top 10, except Moab Rim, which I did as a passenger with Dan Mick. Anyone considering going out I have one word, GO! It's not just amazing 4 wheeling. It's the people, the views, the history, geology, challenge, and there are plenty of things for non-wheelers - Arches, Canyonlands, Dead Horse State Park, rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, BASE jumping, rafting the Colorado or canoeing the Green River. The Moab Chamber of Commerce owes me a commission..... BTW, I heard Lions Back is now off limits. Is that true?

    • @JeepAdventures
      @JeepAdventures  2 роки тому

      There is a multitude to stock right? The idea is this is a stock ride height 4-door, which in its self a big hinderance is what is doing this trail. But the only benefit we used in this video was the swaybar disconnects. So pretty much any model could make it if they pull a swaybar link.

    I keep hearing the term "stock vehicle," and I'm familiar with the term, but are we talking ALL stock off-road vehicles? For example, we just got a 2011 Jeep Liberty, and I'm wondering how well it would handle some of these ... or if it would handle them at all.
    Having said all that, I'm absolutely inspired by all y'all's offroading! Holy crap, I'm so excited we got an off-roader of ANY kind! We may not be able to do the hard or severe trails, but man ... whatever! Someday!

    • @JeepAdventures

      Traditionally when someone says stock vehicle they are talking about wranglers or tacoma's. Which are you stock high ground clearance vehicles. Overall, the liberty can do a bunch of what is out there and is a very capable vehicle.

    Good vid!
    Will take this opportunity to point out to those new to wheelin’ that you should have a predetermined language for spotting. At 8:43 you hear “straight! Straight! Straight!” That is not helpful. I use four words that cover 99% of all situations. Forward, reverse, driver and passenger, plus adjectives such as more driver or more passenger for keep turning that direction. You’ll notice the spotter pointing one direction and saying straight. His intent seems to have been for the driver to straighten their wheel. To another person it means keep going the way the vehicle is pointing or “forward.” KISS keep it simple stupid. Especially when you are in a stressful situation and many drivers do get really stressed out there.
    Hand signals are great but you cannot always rely on them. There are times when all the driver can see is blue sky. Keep the language clear and concise, have fun and be safe!

      Exactly right. I was thinking the same thing. A common language is key so there is no confusion. I see this kind of thing everywhere I go and it leads to nothing but confusion and dangerous situations. A little training for those folks could gona long way.

      Traditionally when that is said, it is meant Jeeps or Tacoma's.

    • @MannysCorner
      @MannysCorner 3 роки тому

      JeepAdventures Hmm it seems your comments are more directed at Jeep owners then, I don’t know why you lump Tacomas in with Jeeps, when set up the same it is no more off road worthy then a Ranger. I guess if I watch anymore of your videos I will take your trail ratings with a grain of salt and as more applying to the Jeep community then 4x4s in general.

    • @JeepAdventures
      @JeepAdventures  3 роки тому +1

      @@MannysCorner Its about adapting the ratings for your vehicle and driving exp. You will find when most people say an intermediate trail, that vehicle would be a Wrangler, 4Runner, and Tacomas, and the driver's experience is on the newer side. For other brands / models this might be a hard trail. For people with more offroad exp, this might be easy. If you want something more fine-tuned, I created a trail rating system TrailsOffroad adopted that rates on obstacle size, but when you just use simple words there is a lot of room for interpretation. So I wouldn't say take it with a grain of salt but take it more as a guide on where the rating for the trail might be. If you want more details on the trail rating, use websites like trailsoffroad to get the specifics on the trail.
