Great video. Thank you for sharing and collaborating with a new guy. I would love to partner with you as I get into the union as an apprentice carpenter so we can grow and learn from one another. I'm down here in Arlington, Texas at Local 429. I'll be starting in August 2022, so let's stay in touch!
Of course. I'm here to help. I've alway wanted to hear about whats going on in Texas. Maybe we can do an interview after you get started. Thank you again for watching.
@@unscriptedwithantonio I'd love to do an interview sometime. Maybe later this Summer or this Fall. Keep growing your channel! I've already shared it with the other 2 I went through the program with and I'll also share it when I get started in Arlington.
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. You are doing exactly what you said, building a community. I have my first interview next month and I am prepping as we speak.
@@unscriptedwithantonio Went good man! I am suppose to get a call within 30 days for work. Got all my tool and finishing up my OSHA 10 then once they call I gotta pay my dues and they will set me up with work and classes. So excited.
Had my first interview yesterday with a small contacting company! It went well!! The owner said he'd let me have a work experience for an apprenticeship if I wanted! Thanks for these videos really!
Hey Antonio back with a update man hope everything is well with you I have great news I got orientation coming up soon and I’m honestly very excited thanks for making videos informing people about the trade keep it up bc I will continue to watch 🙏🙏
Thank you I'm starting the interview process to join Exterior / Interior in North Oregon. Your videos have been a huge help, thanks for all the great info and advice
Take a deep breath. You're going to be fine. Organize your thoughts. Writing things down helped me. Answer these questions. Why do you want to join the carpenter's union? Why should the union invest in you? Do you have previous skills in the trades? And what are some strengths you possess that will help you be successful in your apprenticeship? It's pretty simple. Dress decent. Come early. I hope you crush it! Good luck!
I have a question about becoming a carpenters helper. In case I don't get an apprenticeship how do I apply for the carpenters helper in the local 1503???
so i gotta question bro i been on a big site sense i started my apprenticeship for like 4 months doing framing i was doing good at a lot of thing they had me doing back out for the most part at first then after that he started to let me do way more now i went to school this week n i passsed now they got me going to a another’s site doing exterior trim but now i gotta drive almost like an hour away did you deal with any of that ? is that a good thing ? cuss i feel like some plp be stuck on teams to long
It's happens all the time. Jobsites are always going to be in different locations. The commute is just part of the job. It's great that your company is keeping you on and keeping you working!!!!
I have a question I got my first class nov 17th at a training center it’s like 6 hours from where I live how should I go dressed and also will they locate me in jobs not that far from where I live.?
You should go it work attire. And it all depends on your union. In oregon you can find your own job. But I've heard in other states that you get assigned jobs.
After the interview you will either get a letter or email. Giving you a score / ranking. Depending on your score you be a direct entry. Meaning you can look for a job instantly. Others will have to wait until there number comes up.
@@unscriptedwithantonio Thank you for the info. I just received my ranking and I’m thinking is not to good; I ranked 125. Do you know how ranking works? Like how they come up with the numbers? Or is there somewhere online I can read on how ranking works? Thanks in advance ☺️
@@dustinvaldeztv it's all depends on how large the pool was and how many open jobs there are. And it depends on the state. I guy I met from California ranked 380. Got sent on the out of work listen in 3 days after his interview. So all those things are factors.
Hey! My husband applied to the local146 about a week a go. (trying to transfer. He is an apprentice in California) do you know how long it takes for them to respond? Also, what comes after? How is the process like? Thanks!

I’m in a pre apprenticeship program right now
Thats a great choice. And I believe it makes you a direct entry to the apprenticeship when it opens.

Go down to the local 1503 office in Oregon city. And sign up. Let know how I can help.

Is he still in California? Have him contact the local In Oregon city. It shouldn't be that difficult to transfer his book up here.
