38:40 attack vivi with both creatures, if they block squee it's fine, if they block the Dino you can clarion, if they don't block vivi goes even further down. Why play x/3s before combat?
Oh nice! I just crafted this yesterday. Silver 2 or 3 on mtga, I don't think it's great but it's very fun to ruinous blast for 4 for 1s! Hoping for RNA to print some nice azorious legends. Raff is so important to having a creature to cast ruinous blast. I find the 4 treasure map vital for card filtering and finding lands. 38:22 you're expecting doom whisperer but golgari has so many varied threats I'd just run out resplendent angel. It dies to vivien minus or chupacabra but hopefully it's chups and you can run out lyra the next turn. Holding up justice strike in case of doom whisperer is odd when they don't play whisperer, and if they do you can kill it next turn. 40:50 I'd probably just make a 3/3. I think a 3/3 is better than 2 loyalty on huatli. It did let you kill multani though so can't complain about the results there! And I could see you were thinking about doom whisperer. I just run immortal sun for golgari but maybe the planeswalker route is better! Finally there is no opening hand algorithm in constructed events. Only in bo1 ladder.
can we go back to deck tech separated from gameplay videos? imho, i like not knowing how the deck works and i enjoy trying to figure it out as the video goes, and skipping time sucks.
48:20 "where the opening hand algorithm gives you a one-lander, and you have to mulligan, and then you never hit your fourth land drop, and your opponent has the double vanguard triple one-drop draw, and uh.. and you're [leaguein' ?]"
In game 4 with vivian near ultimate, why didn't you just attack with a dino and squee into vivian? The carnage woulda blocked the beast token, you'd knock 2 off vivian and could use clarion to finish dino off. Instead you added two more 3 toughness creatures to the board. Definitely done wrong I think overall :-( Still, good video.
At 39:00 I don’t really understand why he wouldn’t just throw Squee and a dino at the Vivien to give him a few more turns. Losing a token seems worth the chance of just losing because of a Vivien ult.
I enjoy seeing Boros decks that aren't pure aggro. Too bad you got some bad running, I feel like this should typically do better. I also can't believe Urza's Ruinous Blast hasn't taken off. It's so good against so many things. It exiles Golgari's things so they can't get them back. It exiles Phoenixes. It gets rid of white banisher enchantments and gives you your stuff back. There's gotta be a deck that can get popular that uses it.
Yeah, I think we maybe hit some bad variance in our matches (also it might be that this deck is better suited for best of three than best of one). Urza's Ruinous Blast is one of my favorite cards in Standard that no one plays. Hopefully this changes with Ravnica Allegiance!
Bo1 is thin on meaningful gameplay decisions, so it makes for bad YT content. A stream where you grind some ranks with an aggro deck would be really interesting though.
Hey saffron olive long time watcher and subscriber but I have had this idea for quite some time about a deck it's not 100% done but a basis of it is vehicles and meek stone running a ton of high powers vehicles like fleet wheel and dragster while having week power creatures to crew and due to the fact the vehicles aren't creature at end of turn they unwrap unlike the opponents creature and tapping all his creatures the opponents controls to get in and keep getting in reliably
Because Mox amber is supposed to be a ramp card. There isn't much of a reason to play a ramp card that will only be online by turn 4 most of the time (turn 3 sometimes if you have Lannary Storm). His curve maxes out around 5 so Mox amber would be a dead card most of the time and is a waste of a card slot or 3-4.
Mox is a hard card to take advantage of. While we have a lot of legends we don't have too many cheap legends, which means it isn't often going to make mana until turn four or five, which is a bit rough.
@@MTGGoldfish Yeah, when you say that I see both of your points, thanks. Just always seems to me like a good and cheap card for a format to like EDH, especially without money for the other good 0 drops. I always wondered why it doesn't see much play in standard, but I suppose that this makes sense, too hard to actually use and a waste of slots, thanks from both of you.
That game against mono red made me so salty. That was such utter bs. The number of times on arena I've kept a slightly land light hand then drew no lands or kept a land heavy hand and drew nothing but lands... Its almost never an appropriate amount.
Typical suffering olive; 1/2 of this deck is 4 drops or higher. Yet blames Mana screwed. This why you play with a considerable amount of scry, surveil, draw +, land tutor, and/or cantrips
Best of one is a travesty. Magic was created to be played with a sideboard. Games like hearthstone have a level of variance removed (no lands) that makes best of one viable. That just isn't magic.
He calls it that because best of 1 was originally the only format on arena and best of 1 is really only played on arena. And since it is the most competitive form of magic currently on arena because of the new ranking system it makes sence to call it arena mode
More best of one garbage? Please Seth.. Just because they slap a couple of colours on a badge and call the crap ranked doesn't make it worthwhile playing or watching for that matter. There's nothing to learn from it, nothing to be gained from this complete diceroll, let all the former Hearthstone players and sponsored shilling pros cater to the Bo1 crowd, your content is better than that.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm trying to figure out what people want in terms of Arena content. Since Goldfish Gladiators is an Arena series it makes sense to try out the different modes, but if people don't like best of one content I can avoid it in the future.
@@MTGGoldfish Man this is the second time you've answered me when I've just woken up and translated my morning anger into a youtube comment because your content wasn't exactly what I've come to expect, props for actually reading through the frustration! I will say that I think it's totally reasonable from a content creator's viewpoint to want to not let the interest wizards has generated for Bo1, by making it the only ranked mode, go untapped in terms of views - I think I've just become so used to your content that I'm pretty traditionalist about it, it makes total sense to use Goldfish Gladiators to dive into the Bo1 meta from time to time aswell, maybe not every time but checking in once in a while. @@MTGGoldfish TBH, I will watch Seth's content regardless of format, but since you so kindly replied to my very short comment, I feel that I should at least give you some constructive feedback on what I dislike most about bo1. To me it just feels weird pace-wise (matches are too short, sometimes brutally short)+ having matches decided on one player mulliganing 2x or being mana screwed with no follow up is kind of frustrating (kind of feels like a waste of time to even watch those - in bo3 you can at least see the effort to catch up based on the info you gathered in the first game, which is quite entertaining in itself). I guess you can summarize with "pace being too fast" and dislike for increased variance. Cheers!
Around 17:00 or so, why not just lava coil the drake and then pump angel? Gain 5, angel lives, make a 4/4 at end of turn. Rinse and repeat next turn.
I agree, not really sure the thought process there. I'm no master of the game but having resplendent angel and a 4/4 out seems better to me.
Yeah, you could tell he noticed the mistake right after swinging in.
What am I missing though. Why wasn’t the token created anyway. He gained the life.
Resplendent angel is at the end step. So it was dead before the endstep so he got nothing. No creature with the trigger existed at the end step
He made a ton of huge punts that match, along with other matches. It was frustrating watching him hamfistedly play this deck.
15 Mythics and 23 rares just in the mainboard if I counted right... Ouch, that's like an arena legacy deck
38:40 attack vivi with both creatures, if they block squee it's fine, if they block the Dino you can clarion, if they don't block vivi goes even further down. Why play x/3s before combat?
The audio sounds like its out of sync.
Love the use of Ruinous Blast! Such a cool card.
Big fan of this deck! Keep on keeping on!
I think you need to replay this deck again in a regular arena league Seth. This deck didn’t do justice lol

“Bo1 physically hurts my body”
This is why i watch Seth
I built this for FNM and came in first. I changed up the sideboard a bit and it worked like a charm!
The mono blue deck often folds to early giant flyers. That match was no surprise.
can we go back to deck tech separated from gameplay videos? imho, i like not knowing how the deck works and i enjoy trying to figure it out as the video goes, and skipping time sucks.
I'd love to see this in a best of 3 format! This is a really clever build of this archetype, but just didn't get a chance to be flexible enough.
Maybe we'll give it a run in best of three in the future, the deck seems like it has potential, it just didn't work out that well in our matches :(
5:52 Skippy
It's almost the same as my main deck from the start of Ravnica. I also use Danitha and Blackblade Reforged.
God i like this deck so much
Audio seems off.

Karn advantage is real.
The thumbnail says fish 5-0 instead of goldfish gladiators.
Yeah. I thought this was going to be Crim and thengot Seth. Genuinely confused.
Donovan Simmons upgrade
What recording / streaming software do you use?
OBS.
It’s good that you are making content for the super competitive bo1 format
You are joking right?
Chantal Beck dripping in sarcasm.

He could also have used life gain mode on Deafening Clarion to make an angel token.
The oponent would have blocked the dino, and then he could play clarion to kill the tyrant.
due to arena's algorithm you should play 26 lands, it'd give you a much better chance of starting with 3-4 lands in your opening hand
0:25 Obviously call it Boros Historic, Seth!
Didn’t Crim do this same deck last week?
I guess since the deck is best of one match it should be putting more general removal like Ixalan's Biding or something like it

Agreed. Totally agreed.
how many games in best of 1?
Best of one goes until you win seven times or loss three times, this time we ended up 3-3, which is pretty meh.
I think you'd probably want all 4 treasure maps and maybe an azors gateway and cut hautli
Why best of one?
Bo1 is thin on meaningful gameplay decisions, so it makes for bad YT content. A stream where you grind some ranks with an aggro deck would be really interesting though.
Fish 5-0?
This deck wrecks my pirates so bad. I hate those angels.

how about 1 helm of the host also
Why play Bo1 when you've made it clear that you don't enjoy it as much as Bo3?
Game one opponent should have given you Aurelia rather than the land. You needed to sac the treasure to cast Karn and didn't appear to have a 4th land
im not a big fan of this best of one format. its not very competitive and wotc should not be pushing this
welcome to arena standard deviation which sometimes gets you even if you play aggro.
you should have played storm and cast a removal off the treasure instead of just the removal, seth the way you play is so frustrating sometimes
you missed land drops every single game. This does not feels right.
This deck average mana cost is around 3.4. That is too much cost for a 25 lander. It needs 27 lands, maybe 26 but that is still pushing your luck.
Arena doesn't like anything but 24 lands.
Typical suffering olive; 1/2 of this deck is 4 drops or higher. Yet blames Mana screwed. This why you play with a considerable amount of scry, surveil, draw +, land tutor, and/or cantrips

I thought this was a fish 5-0 with crim...
Normally don't say this but this was painful to watch. Really felt like he needs more practice piloting the deck.
Yep. Definitely not a fan of Arena's best of one games.
