One thing I always liked about The Guyver is that it is clear Sho doesn't really know how to fight. He is sort of just making his fighting style up as he goes.
I think that's one part being due to the sheer brute strength difference between Sho and most zoanoids (nullifies the need for combat training in MANY situations) and one part Sho being just scrappy to make up the difference, when brute force isn't enough.
Yeah i think its better for him to learn how to fight zoanoids in his own way since all of them have their own unique bioweapons and in the manga it was clear on how skilled he has gotten from using the guyver suit
For those who don't know the Guyver armor was originally a parasitic creature(think Venom but worse) that was modified and restrained by the control medal as long as the medal is intact it can regenerate the user with all of their memories even if it's ripped out.
But arguably, the regenerated user is a clone with copied memories. Guyver 2 survived for a bit after its medal was destroyed, and clearly was still conscious.
I always argue that DC's Blue Beetle is borrows lots of elements from Guyver. Parasitic-insect life form, latches onto human host, grants bio-organic armor that can transform appendages into melee and ranged weapons, difficult for human host to control, Guyver and many of the other monsters are all very beetle-like as well.

I've always had a theory that the Guyver was actually a creature found by the Creators on another planet but would attach and overwhelm/destroy who ever it came in to contact with. Kind of like Venom but way worse. And the control metal was actually a Creator invention to keep the Guyver tame and usable. That's why when destroyed it eats the host.
Trivia: the author liked Valkyria (initially anime-only character others created) so much that reintroduced her in the manga. Before going back to being a dentist and leaving the story pending forever.
Guyver was a "fits all sizes suit" worn by the Creators, the suit helped pilot a ship but when it was equipped on a human; well, day no more. And now we know why Commander Guyot wants one

And having a Pusedo Guyver despite having all the tech and powers the actual Guyver armors have does have it's downfalls as Valcura/Valkyra can only wear her Psuedo Guyver for so long until she's forced to deactive it due to it's negative effects on her body that last for a couple hours at the least to a few days at the most such as headaches, migraines, bloody nose, heart palpitations, and decreased stamina. And oh yeah she happens to be the younger sister to Lisker aka Guyver-02 who Sho was forced to kill during the battle at Chronos' Japanese HQ.
The 1991 version is Japanese of course, but it got a US dub, this one was an hour long 1987 movie. I like it, but the 12 episode version is the best. I wish they did more with Lisker/Guyver 2, we did get that in the 2006 anime but that version was too fast paced, even with more episodes
This one of my favorite animes I have the guyver bioboosted armor set. What's crazy is a lot of this anime reminds of mythology like the Anununaki who speaks of how they took primitive man and mixed their DNA making human slaves.

I think I have a very scientific theory onto what happens when a control medal is pulled. The suit begins to melt into a molecular acid that "eats the user alive". That's why in most Guyver media when a medal is removed or broken, the Guyver always seems to melt.

I really cannot remember this. I could of sworn there was only 3 guyver units. Teal. Yellow and purple. Non were ever in the hands of a woman. It was a yellow guyver that gets destroyed like this shown here.

Takaya designed Valkyria for the anime. A year after the 86' OVA came out he drew a picture of her partially exposed holding a sword. Fans went nuts over the picture, so much so that it became the basis of a model kit. 30 years later she officially shows up in the manga, but without the sword.

The Guyver is always my favourite fiction anime series. It has great potential but sadly those who make the manga, the 2 1990s movies, the 1986 OVA movie Guyver: Out of Control, the 12 episodes from OVA series and the 2005 anime series, they wasted many opportunities on them and they didn't put a female Guyver as a main protagonist like Sho for example. Also, in my opinion Valkyria should be a good woman Guyver, not a bad woman Guyver with Chronos and I was thinking that they would put her in the next guyver movie or show and I had a dream that she betrayed the Chronos and help Sho Fukamachi/Sean Barker to get mizuki and Tetsuro Segawa and Max Reed out of the Chronos base and Agito Makishima showed up and help them back and maybe she could have been another love-interest for Sho/Sean.
Me too and The Guyver is who I would be if I were a superhero because I like the weapons like the blades and I want to be in a battle of man vs monster.

It was damaged when the units were stolen from a chronos lab and then the same guy who stole them set off a bomb and it sent the units flying. One landed by Sho and another landed a distance away and was found by Sho’s classmate Agito and the one Valcura wears was found close to the explosion site, but the control metal landed on a rock or something which dented it and caused it to malfunction.

The 2005 series was a let down, the only good thing about it is that u got to see more of the guyver story but it lacked the intensity of the action and definitely the creative music soundtracks that were present in the 90s series ... i have not read the manga yet (guilty i know) but i heard that manga ended with many things left open so not sure if this fact is true

Michael Resendes I had all 6 tapes, I then bought the DVD's when Manga re-released them. Basically the same but had minor differences which to someone who loved the original as much as I did are pretty annoying.
whisperingwind7 I don’t remember exactly, but if it follows traditional knowledge. Of the 3 Units left on earth Unit 2 has always been damaged prior to the user being equipped with it. It’s not known exactly how are what caused the initial damage. But the end result is the same. Unit 2 is destroyed and Sho learns to never let the control metal get damaged. The sight of this leaves him scarred and with nightmares.
the original Guyver 2 Unit is damaged by grenade sets by the rogue Zoanoids that ran away with the units the first "victim" of this is Oswald Lisker, the first user of Guyver 2, during his fight agaisnt Guyver 1, his control metal is cracked and his armor started to acted weird, and Guyver 1 finished him with a direct punch to his control metal, with the control metal gone, the Guyver unit started to eat Lisker alive.... the Valcure's Guyver 2F, has a manmade control metal, that appeared had a time limit and had limited function compared to the original control metal
Yes she was a terrorist, part of the Chronos organization, they kill and kidnap people with no consequence and cover it up to hid their actions as they have operatives in the police and government. Many of Sho's friends were murdered in front of his eyes in order to try and get his Guyver unit and kidnapped Mizuki who they for sure either would have killed for just knowing about Chronos or would have turned her into an experiment for Zoanoid research. Sorry but you work for a company that does that and you know it does that you deserve whatever happens to you.

Also, in my opinion Valkyria should be a good woman Guyver, not a bad woman Guyver with Chronos and I was thinking that they would put her in the next guyver movie or show and I had a dream that she betrayed the Chronos and help Sho Fukamachi/Sean Barker to get mizuki and Tetsuro Segawa and Max Reed out of the Chronos base and Agito Makishima showed up and help them back and maybe she could have been another love-interest for Sho/Sean.
I'm just wondering. Can we watch the final before we die or writer die...?

whisperingwind7 Her control metal was damaged before the fight. It was damaged before she ever even bonded with the armor. It was damaged when the units were stolen from a chronos lab and then the same guy who stole them set off a bomb and it sent the units flying. One landed by Sho and another landed a distance away and was found by Sho’s classmate Agito and the one Valcura wears was found close to the explosion site, but the control metal landed on a rock or something which dented it and caused it to malfunction.

The 2005 series was a let down, the only good thing about it is that u got to see more of the guyver story but it lacked the intensity of the action and definitely the creative music soundtracks that were present in the 90s series ... i have not read the manga yet (guilty i know) but i heard that manga ended with many things left open so not sure if this fact is true

How cool would it have been if Valcura went rogue and left the Cronos Corporation?
That would have been a correct ending, that she betrayed Cronos and help Sho rescue his friends and escape with them, that way she would be still alive for various viewers and fans to enjoy her presence, because I was pretty upset, sad and disappointed that she died:(

And perhaps the third Guyver would join her and reveal his identity to her as well if he wanted too though, otherwise he could have done gone off on his own as well, but he probably would have revealed his identity first to Valcuria, Sho and his friends first before leaving, and Valcuria could have fallen in love with him perhaps, I don't know lol!

Well, regardless, the character is still very cool. Such a shame her screen time was as short as it was when compared to other villains in the show, but meh, could have been even shorter I imagine.

Oh ya, I was going to mention, I discovered the Guyver series because I was watching a scene from the Event Horizon, and then they showed a scene from the first live action film of the Guyver on the list, and it had Mark Hamill in it getting mutated into a zoianoid, which was so grose and disturbing, and it seemed like whoever directed it was a fan of the movie The Thing, but yeah.

Michael Resendes I had all 6 tapes, I then bought the DVD's when Manga re-released them. Basically the same but had minor differences which to someone who loved the original as much as I did are pretty annoying.

whisperingwind7 I don’t remember exactly, but if it follows traditional knowledge. Of the 3 Units left on earth Unit 2 has always been damaged prior to the user being equipped with it. It’s not known exactly how are what caused the initial damage. But the end result is the same. Unit 2 is destroyed and Sho learns to never let the control metal get damaged. The sight of this leaves him scarred and with nightmares.
the original Guyver 2 Unit is damaged by grenade sets by the rogue Zoanoids that ran away with the units
the first "victim" of this is Oswald Lisker, the first user of Guyver 2, during his fight agaisnt Guyver 1, his control metal is cracked and his armor started to acted weird, and Guyver 1 finished him with a direct punch to his control metal, with the control metal gone, the Guyver unit started to eat Lisker alive....
the Valcure's Guyver 2F, has a manmade control metal, that appeared had a time limit and had limited function compared to the original control metal

Yes she was a terrorist, part of the Chronos organization, they kill and kidnap people with no consequence and cover it up to hid their actions as they have operatives in the police and government.
Many of Sho's friends were murdered in front of his eyes in order to try and get his Guyver unit and kidnapped Mizuki who they for sure either would have killed for just knowing about Chronos or would have turned her into an experiment for Zoanoid research.
Sorry but you work for a company that does that and you know it does that you deserve whatever happens to you.
