My group played the Medley last Spring-- I love that this isn't written in cut time like that version. Boring flute parts...but I guess they usually get melodic parts.

Just a critique There's not much in the way of dynamics, compared the actual song. The background instruments need to be a notch or two down in order to get the full intended effect. Though I am a trumpet player, so maybe it's just me wanting the trumpets louder. Either way, great job!
I definitely think there needs better dynamics, the key change could've had a much better impact. I also think some of the instrumentation could have been done differently
They might be playing louder because some of those instruments never really stand out the entire song. I mean I don't know but if I was a band director and I was looking to purchase sheet music, I'd want everyone to feel that their part is important, but that's just me. Could've just been a matter of what direction the arranger wanted it to go, and individual band directors with an ear for music can easily tweak it as they see fit.
I'd agree. As much as I think trumpets are a bit overrated (because they are like always in the melody) trumpets are a necessary part of this song. I'm on third clarinet and I can't even tell what the melody is at some points because the background players are so overwhelming. One of my favorite parts is measure 16-19 because trumpet sounds so good, but sadly the trumpet player in my 6 person age group hates the song so he does horrible 😆
madelin eberle it's ok because I'm not struggling that much with it and i'm playing it for my spring concert and the people hearing us know nothing about band so they'll think it's perfect

When all your friends are depending on you to play that high A so you have to practice this song every day to get the high notes comfortable... and they still say their part is hard. #trumpetlife Btw I’ve only been learning for less than 2 years so plz no hate
