I'm so impressed with Paul Rubens and their beautiful packaging, and I think these student-grade offerings are as beautiful as their professional artist-grade offereings. I love the checkerboard tubes! Love the journal, too -- that style is absolutely perfect for nature & travel journaliing. Great review, wonderful demos, thank you!

Would love tutorials please. Just a question but what are cauliflower blooms?

Good question! I will go over it more in the leaf tutorial, but as an answer to your question it’s when you add water or more liquid-y paint to your wash that is either partially dry or fully dry. The added water “wakes up” the watercolor you’ve already put down on the paper and makes it run in a starburst-like pattern. Sometimes you want them, sometimes you don’t!

Hello my curly wurly (not only your hair, but a UK chocolate and soft toffee bar) friend! Well now, truly funky packaging there, but absolutely recognisable, something I imagine that becomes increasingly difficult to achieve in a very saturated (no pun intended) market. I too like that they have finally brought out tubes to refill their pan colours. I also have a 36 set I believe, or maybe 24 - hmmm, 🤷🏼‍♀️ and I have used them in the past to specifically follow Lindsay Weirich’s Teachable paid for tutorials. It was the set she recommended to newbies like me. I have had both the paint and the tutorials for 3 years, and ummm, I am yet to begin it? 🤦🏼‍♀️🫣 It was only your speaking about the brand that reminded me.
I have heard of Vans, but never seen a pair in the wild as it were. I think it was mainly because I lived in small villages on the coast and the whole skater thing arrived very late to Scotland. Fun fact, we actually have stunning turquoise coloured beaches where they actually surf! Ok, so even in summer you need a dry suit, but you can’t have it all. 😂
Onto the next one. I busied myself with housework that took the entire day to achieve in 10 minute whizzing of wheels. Having been now tucked up in bed by Promise, my new Carer, I have finally turned my attention to UA-cam, and solely to a concerted effort to catch up on the backlog. One down, and many to go! 🖌️👩🏻‍🎨🎨🥰

Wait….a “dry suit?” If that’s what I think it is, we call that a wet suit! 😂
Good to see you back here in the comments, my friend! I’m happy your carer is taking away some of your troubles, and what a lovely name, Promise.
Happy you enjoyed this and yes, the Mei Lang paints are worth using! I also love Lindsay’s Teachable platform❤️❤️

@artonthecreek Yes, dry suit. It differs from the more usual wetsuit in that it is thick and designed to seal your entire body away from water. It comes with built in boots and hood. All perfectly sealed off from the water. Why do they exist? They keep you warm in icy cold waters! We, including me, also use wetsuits when in rivers etc. I went white water rafting aged 28 wearing a wet suit. Brrrr 🥶 😂

@ well maybe we do have dry suits….I do live in Colorado, after all, so what the heck do I know?!🤣
