Ann Peebles the maestra singer soul songwriter, turned me from white rock and roll in the 60s and early 70s from a dilletante digger of motown to a voyager into Memphis Soul and beyond for the next 2 decades at the very least. Soo garldang groovy mon!
So I am randomly watching this video smoking a blunt… Never heard of her until this month… Ran across this random video because of the title and I see my dad playing the saxophone in the back… WTF
She sings it so easy, but listen and feel the vibrations....she gets down to the bone. Under-rated but with a series of great tracks she did with Willie Mitchell. Shame there's so little live stuff of her out there.
Damn, I know this vid is from '99, but hell...Ann aged very gracefully. She was 52 in this vid. Wowza.... Like the voice as well, a bit more gravelly and whispy than when she was recording in the 70's...
It is from a DVD commemorating all the great Blues singers: Carla Thomas, William Bell among others. Would be great if someone would upload the whole DVD.
@@Visibledietymaybe not a duet but they did sing together. Whether or not it’s recorded is unknown to me, but I used to work at Stax museum, where I was told they sang together on occasion. They lived and worked in the same city in the same time frame in the same genre of music. Sorry I can’t give you a definitive answer.
Alessandro Nobile Wow!!! I just discovered this video. She looks great here,...and sounds superb. When was this performance recorded and where is Ms. Peebles now??? I would love to know more facts. Let me know if you can. Thank You.
see that !!! ua-cam.com/video/DNjrQUrnim4/v-deo.html IT s a french group ( the best in europe ) , this show was a little show , they was just 4... but the guitariste singer is amazing , a genius , the band ' s name is " malted milk " actualy they play with an american singer : tony green , enjoy
This celebration of tearing up people's homes has to go to the pit. See the effects of the people and their lineages. It's never just a song. Not being a party pooper but this is rotten
She's not doing it though, that's the point. She's singing about what she feels like doing. The story is that she was seeing someone, not knowing they were married. They split up but she misses him. She's not actually going to break up their home, but she's miserable and in that moment, wishes that she could.

Even though Ann was happily married, she sings this anthem of unmarried mistresses like she really knows what it is about!
I came her after hearing Bob Seger’s 1976 live cover of this song. I’d never heard of Ann Peebles, but - WOW - what a voice.
This woman has a fantastic voice
This music is so very muched missed today. Takes one back in the old days and what good times they were.
Ann Peebles bringin that gospel soul ...love it!

Alessandro Nobile Thanks Handsome.💋💋😁
Oh my! She's got such a magic voice! So smooth and caressing!
I remember hearing this song, when I was just a young girl.
Unfortunately I grew up to knew what it felt like all too well.
It's a curse of a song--as many we like. I don't care how much I like the artist, I don't listen to sideline chick nor spell bound songs
My, my my!!!
The greatest. I love Ann Peebles!
All hail the queen!
I Love the Al Green Beat.....
Very NICE
Bass player kills! Good Job, all!
Take Hi Records and Memphis soul!! Add Ann Peebles and your gonna get your playhouse torn down!!
