Not sure why Logitech won't just make an Ergo Master with all of the Master 3's features in a vertical form factor. I'd buy it in a heartbeat to replace my Master 3.
I agree with this but I prefer a true third button like on evoluent mice, my current preferred brand. I middle click a lot and the wheel click is always trash on these.
I've found that inside the Logi Options you can set up any button in a way that when you press it and move your mouse, it performs scroll in the move direction. This way I've been able to substitute the horizontal scroll wheel of my MX 3 and move to MX Vertical without loosing any functionality.
@@GadgetsGearCoffee I've swiched to 100% DeX since, so I don't remember the name, but it's one of the four major features they have on the top level, alongside with mission control.
The lack of a horizontal wheel is a deal breaker for me. I do have a vertical mouse, but never use it because that wheel on the MX 3 is essential for my workflow, especially for video editing.
you can configure in the logitech options+ software to click one of the side buttons + scroll to use horizontal scroll, you can even set up this setting per app… i think for the price the lift is quite a steal
@@likatchup I agree... I bought this and horizontal scroll was there by pressing forward/backward button and normal scroll. I switched from my old MS Sculpt ergo mouse.
yeah deal breaker. I use mouse in concert with razer for lightning quick apps eg Cubase, Archicad etc and shift + scroll is no go...must be discreet directionally related functions...forward/back is for actual next/previous zoom which is not scroll
@@heatherzhou706 That is what i said. Just hold the scroll wheel. Most people don't know that this does the side-side scrolling without another wheel. I just learned this recently myself.
You can scroll horizontally with the Lift as easy as with the MX Master. Just hold the back or forward button before scrolling and there ypu go. You can horizontally scroll.
I'm loving mine, tried a few mice (Rapoo MV20 and Cherry MW4500, both too large for me and Rapoo did not work on Mac; Dareu LM158G good size for me but found it slippery) but always went back to my traditional one, Lift was the first I managed to daily drive. I've got the pink one and have been using it since late January, just looked at it and indeed the rubberized part gets a dark tint after prolonged use but managed to wipe it clean with some hand sanitizer and it looks as new. For side scrolling I just use the scroll wheel while keeping shift pressed, found this trick last year.
hi, does the side wheel trick works by default, or do I need the logi options software to enable it? I want it for work but can not install programs there
I get that people want USB C charging out of convenience, but if your gonna keep your mouse for more than two years, the internal rechargeable battery especially one small enough to fit in a mouse would seriously degrade over time as you use. This is also applies to AA batteries but the benefit is that AA are much easier to replace for the user you can find them everywhere, rather than opening a mouse to replace a sealed in battery. Great review though, keep up the good work
Thanks for the review. My work involves a constant shift between mouse and keyboard throughout the day and my experience with this mouse wasn't really good and would like to know if anyone here had the same experience. The problems faced: 1) every time I do the switch from mouse to keyboard and vice versa (and what is said at 1:35 in this video) actually happens constantly i.e. the wrist needs to turn at each switch. 2) When chasing work deadline the switching speed becomes a lot faster and my palm bumps and topples the mouse over (especially from mouse to keyboard) since the mouse is taller than the keyboard. 3) Both the left and right click buttons are super silent but then quite sensitive too, at least the one I got has the right click super sensitive and therefore during scrolling the right click the middle finger unintentionally gets pressed (may be it has got something to do with the learning curve from traditional to vertical mouse or muscle memory). Would love to hear the feedback. Thanks
You've articulated all my problems faced and convinced me to return mine after a day of purchase lol. It was so frustrating to switch between mouse and keyboard and uncomfortable to use while working on architectural drawing softwares, which i do tend to hold down the scroll button to pan around my screen...
The Lift is a good vertical mouse. But after working two months with it I noticed a strain in my shoulder and trapezius. I try unwittingly to lift my shoulder constantly when I move the mouse. It sure helps to rest your hand on the mouse when not moving instead of holding it up.
Some apps allow you to scroll horizontally by holding down a key such a shift, dunno if this is applicable to you but you should give it a shot or find out!
I was just looking for some ergonomic keyboards and mice for my home setup. I recently bought a wrist brace for my right hand as well, and this mouse looks like something I'd enjoy using. Perfect timing for me 😄
When I found out about the Shift + Scroll combination for horizontal scrolling I used the horizontal scroll wheel on my MX Master less and less. I guess this shouldn‘t be that big of a deal.
Hi! So I just bought this, but I also own the ergonomic keyboard by Logitech, which works with the Unifying receiver, not the new bolt. Is there a way to consolidate the keyboard with the new bolt receiver? Or do I have to have 2 different receivers plugged in? I'm short on usb ports on my laptop, so being able to consolidate would be a huge help! Please lmk if you can and thanks :)
Not sure if this is new after the video gets posted, but you can now hold the back/forward key down and scroll which triggers horizontal scroll on the lift
Hey, when you mentioned that "bluetooth can always be hit or miss" were you speaking based on testing with this specific mouse's bluetooth, or were you just speaking about bluetooth mice in general?
I know this video is kinda old now but there’s a mouse called the Delux seeker that has the scroll wheel and is just a really nice mouse all around. I’m actually returning the lift for a few reasons. It’s a little hard to press the side buttons without also pressing the regular buttons because of the location. Also, I don’t like where the dpi button is. When you have a 49” screen like I do, I use it a lot. I wish they would have put it on the same spot as the vertical.
my m720 AA batteries lasted for almost 3 years and my usage varies from 10 to 14 hours a day at least 5 days a week… logitech is a monster with batteries I totally believe that these batteries can last 2 years
I started using the Lift for a few days, the palm area below my thumb and also my wrist feel very tiring and uncomfortable now. I’m still in search for a better mouse for my small hands. Any more recommendations?
I was so excited to get it, but it hurts me more from my fingers all the way to my elbow. I'm bummed because my regular mouse hurt and I was hoping it would help, but it's even worse. :( Your video was still descriptive and helpful, though - nice job.
I usually use vertical mouse for my works on computer in long hours , it help reduce my wrist pain a lot and sometimes I get the wrist pain again when using back the original mouse :))
Take the Lift and buy a mousepad with a built in cushion and it's perfect, the leveling from the cushion/wrist keeps your hand straight . I love it, I however wish it had a case for travel as it's not easy to throw in a laptop bag. I have dropped this numerous times (I used a laptop desk and it slid off). It took a beating, just the batteries came flying out and the magnetic cover went flying as well. Other than that, I love this mouse, I would buy two, one for work one for home but it's $70, so I just use it at home until I can find a case for it. Love this one, I use the top button for screen capture which I use frequently for tech specs, etc.
I love that the battery is removable I would much prefer switching in and out rechargeable batteries and recycle them when they are no longer holding a charge also if means the mouse will be useful much longer and stay out of landfill. All products should have used replaceable batteries and companies should have a battery recycle service for free.
Same here. I always have a rechargeable battery in the mouse and one spare lying around so I never run out of battery at the wrong moment. When internal batteries ultimately fail, you can throw the whole product away. I do not understand why so many people see this as a plus when talking about computer mice.
it seems though like you have to keep the Options+ app constantly on on the Mac, otherwise all the functions you set yourself are gone once you close the app.
hi, how is about middle button press? I have mx vertical but the middle button press is so heavy. I need the lighter to hold while panning camera (using 3d modelling software)
Thanks Thao, hadn't heard about the lift. Ordered a lefty in graphite + matching mx keys mini from Logitech Canada. Great to see a rare version for us south paws too 😁 Plus an included bolt receiver, saved $15 not having to order one for the keys mini 👍🏻
GREAT REVIEW!!! I was looking for somebody that communicated their experience with the mouse and you just did it also touched important points like the horizontal scrolling, For Designers and photographers is an important feature. Do you think in terms of usability is superior that the Apple Magic Mouse? Thank you!
Think I'm going to have to go with the MX Master 3s (new version with more DPI and quiet clicking). It's still vertical enough to not put much strain on the wrist, it's angled to where my wrist can comfortably sit without me putting pressure into the movement. It's in that nice range by the looks of it. The super vertical options adds various tricky foreign elements but also it's now essentially a squeeze-to-click, and I wonder if that could cause a repetitive strain injury (I'd say yes, but that most people's hands would adapt and be fine).
Picking between the Lift and 3S has not been easy for me lol. Lift is quieter clicks, but noisier back/forward, scroll is not as refined or quiet, no side scroll, but more comfortable. Also wish they gave their ergo keyboard some love with backlighting and more modern productivity touches. Their new mechanical one is really loud and would be great if they all had the Craft's productivity wheel.
Lol! This could end up being my final form! I went from my laptop touchpad to 1 week with the evil magic mouse, to the first MX Master, to a Wacom tablet and finally mixed use with the Wacom and the MX2! Thanks to that, I don't need my wrist brace that much anymore, but it would be nice to finally toss it in the trash😅
THAO. Did you know that you can side-side scroll by holding shift and then scrolling the standard up-down scroll wheel? In most applications, I have found this works.
I love the thumb wheel as well!!! Cannot believe no other makers or models have this!? Any additional analog input in a device is genius! 1's and 0's are for bots. Wheels are for humans!
Nice mouse but wish there would be a way to easily bring it around in my slim Moshi laptop backpack. Looks heavy and robust. Been using the MX Anywhere series for years... This should have been given the same kind of scroll wheel.
But if the battery only lasts 3 months surely that's still great. USB charging just means you'll need to charge it every few days. That's much worse than 3 months, let alone 2 years.
But ergonomics is so sexy...Try this before committing to a vert mouse: "vertical mousepad". You may be pleasantly surprised as I was. You can use any mouse you want in a handshake position.
