My ex-wife did this, too. She even went so far as to say she wanted to divorce me but still live together so I could support her. I yanked the rug out from under her and she lost everything. Now her side piece is stuck supporting her while she pays me child support. This guy needs to do the same.

When it comes to proving this, you have a few options:
You have a paternity test with an accuracy of at least 98 percent
Proof of cohabitation, adultery, and enough circumstantial evidence to support your claim
IF you divorce your wife on the grounds of adultery, the same will be mentioned in the final divorce order. The court will usually NOT impose permanent alimony in the event of a finding of adultery. MOREOVER, if your wife is pregnant with someone else’s child, the court may not impose child support depending on the circumstances and whether you are able to establish that you are not the father.

Get a paternity test. She has already left the relationship emotionally so there's no need to physically stay together.
Great advice from both Dave and Rachel; if she has decided to leave emotionally, there is no reason to share the same physical space.
You can tell all she was doing was baby trapping him. For the money. This is part of the reason I think you could solve a lot of these problems by just getting a vasectomy at 18. Maybe even younger.
Then if you find the right person just get it reversed.
It would effectively end all of these problems.

Told her i wouldn't keep her and our kid there unhappy for 2 more years but we were getting divorced b4 she moved states to protect my parental rights.

My ex husband wanted a divorce and stay in the house. It was so incredibly painful to see him everyday interacting with kids and going thru the divorce. It lasted a month I asked him to leave. It was the first step toward healing. I wish him the best It does get better. ❤
In New Zealand you have to be separated and living apart for 2 years before you can actually apply for divorce, and I think that's a very good idea
In my state you CANNOT live together and get a divorce because the court assumes that you're cohabiting (sleeping together), and cohabiting invalidates the divorce process. Stops it cold.

You need to file for divorce and petition custody. I went through a divorce at 24 and my wife wanted to do the same thing. Luckily we didn't have a kid involved, but there's no way you can properly grieve or move on when the person who did/is doing this is living in the room next door.
This is why I say that every man as young as safely possible should get a vasectomy. You can always reverse it later when they want to have children.
But that would effectively alleviate the woman from having to take a bunch of birth control chemicals.
Plus dude wouldn't be getting baby trapped.
Side note. At the birth of every child there should be a paternity test. Maybe two or three paternity test.

This happened to my nephew. It took him years to get that lazy woman out of his home. She would not get a job. He got full custody of his twins. They are 16 now. She is living with her parents.

My nephew takes them to all events for school pays for everything and is teaching them to cook, clean and now they are driving age. He is raising amazing twin girls. I will never understand any mom acting this way.
BTW they all ran around in groups after work. He was drinking and she trapped him. He was dumb but has lovely twin girls.

What I love about this show is Dave is very honest and not afraid to tell the callers the truth. Poor guy he doesn't realize she wants the house and bring her lover in later. I had to deal with almost the exact same situation! She started "staying the night at her mother's house," meaning she was already seeing someone else. I told her on the second weekend that this was unacceptable. She could live with me and be with me, or she could move the he*l out of my house! She showed up Sunday with a moving truck. Turns out she was already planning on moving.
She wants to stay until she finds "The One!" (or the next one) while living rent-free. She is going to leave and may or may not take the child with her. She may take the child to get the money.
Man, this same thing happened to me. she hopped a plane to go see the person on the other end of the phone. I had divorce papers waiting on her when she got back.

Dave, Why was your advice not, "First , get a good Lawyer! Find out what your options really are." My Son just went through a difficult divorce. The best thing he did was to get a good lawyer. He actually got joint custody of his children.

It wasn't until he met with the lawyer that he found out that she had no right to do that. From the beginning it was one threat after another. Having the lawyer to fight for him made all of the differernce.

From someone who stayed too long trying to make work because of kids, don't do it!! Leave and get life together and move on and don't look back no matter what. Me too, I just turned 29 and DON’T plan on getting married or having kids. I don’t want any more stress in my life.
I'm 52 but didn't discover the red pill until 48. All the time up to that point I was OK with my single life, but always kept in the back of my mind that I would like to be married one day. God I wish I discovered it earlier. Stay single my younger brothers! If you need encouragement just keep listening to stories like this guy and taking your red pills.

I was in the same situation. He beat me just once. I wouldn't give him a chance to do it again. He wouldn't move out, so, I did. A few people offered to let me stay with them until I could get my own place.
It seemed like a bad idea to me. As an adult, I knew what I had to do. It was very difficult at first, I made it on my own.
Dave is not the expert on women. You let her know that y’all can either divide stuff now and be peaceful or you can take her to court and get child support. 👍🏼 also let her know it’s a great time to sell the house😂
The husband getting child support is a tall order. The family courts are stacked against guys. Most cases where I've known the dad, unless the wife is on drugs and going to jail, the mother gets custody... that's even when she doesn't have a job or a place to live. But it is ruled this way in "the best situation for the child. "
One of his biggest downfalls is when the woman is at fault. If the roles were reversed he would be telling the woman to take him to the cleaners. Notice he isn’t telling him to do the same. Yet the next caller who is young and budgeting with his girlfriend is going to get reamed by Ramsey for doing that and not being married. This is why you choose wisely who you marry (if you get married). Dave never has answers for these calls ever but seems to have answers for everything else…

If she's talking to someone now, what makes you think she wasn't talking to someone 2 years ago before your child was born? Did you get your child DNA tested?
I’ve been in this type of situation. It’s frustrating cos you feel held hostage. I’m glad Dave didn’t try to push the blame on the guy. He needs to seek an attorney advice immediately. He needs to get a DNA test on that kid asap cos the guy she’s talking to is probably the child’s father. She should move in with the new guy.
Sometimes it doesn't take two to break a relationship. Sometimes it only takes one. I also agree with the commenter who said you should get a paternity test.
The time for being a nice guy is over. Protect yourself and protect your child, assuming it's really your child.
The only people who spout the it takes two to tango nonsense are the ones who refuse to dance. Self improvement is great. It can help you dance better by yourself or with a willing partner. But, it won't help anyone with partners that don't want to take responsibility or work things out.

Being a stay at home mom can be hard work, but a lot of women use it as an excuse to stay home. Often these women make terrible stay at home moms because they aren’t actually taking the best care of the child in that time. Sometimes a baby makes one person grow up but the other doesn’t.
Do not leave that house. She made the decision to step out. She can do it literally.

my message to this guy you got your whole life ahead of you and you deserve someone that wont treat you like this and there is plenty of fish in the sea. i kinda know how this guy feels , i never had a girlfriend and at a point in time i finally got a girlfriend , and i liked it , i would of done anything at the time to hang to that nice feeling i had , even possibly gone for something like this nonsense .

I lived in a household with divorced parents. I wouldn’t change my past for the world but man, it doesn’t work to be divorced and living together. It’s so much worse for the kids.

Very sad, He needs to proceed with the divorce filing and get legal direction to have her move out and he can direct the judge regarding what he desires financially. Regardless of what he is doing, something to cause this behavior she should not behave that way inside a marriage. So he needs to proceed.

This type of mother doesn’t have what it takes to be a stay at home mom anyway. She’s not mature and giving enough. That child will be catering to her needs as soon as it’s big enough. The caller needs to do right by his child, get tough and do everything he can to protect them.
So this young man gets to pay all the bills as his ex wife bangs other men while living comfortably. This is one of the most messed up and toxic situations I've seen on this show. Their poor little boy is in for a lifetime of therapy because he will be so confused about what healthy and good love really is. Please don't do this. Please don't damage your son.

Young man, work on yourself. You knew what to do, yet you were seeking permission from an external source. A husband must seek within and have the confidence to stand by his convictions. Women need this kind of leadership, if they can push back, they will. But women thrive with leadership. If you don’t lead her, her boss will, her male friend will, her masculine female friends will. Rise up young man, love God, love yourself, then you can truly love her. If that fails, then she didn’t love herself.

If she's getting the tingles of a new relationship she is probably not thinking clearly enough to even consider anything from her husband at this point. She will later when reality starts affecting her. Now is the best time for the caller to get his own legal advice, and to get counselling to deal with the looming grief/crisis.
@@Lon1001 This is exactly the line of advice I expected Dave to give him. He needs to start getting things in line without telling her. Take advantage of the fact that she thinks he’s just weak. Get a lawyer and have everything laid out for an agreement. Don’t point out to her what she has to lose if she goes through with this and give her the opportunity to start lying or fighting!
Not all the marriage counsels are equally good, some dont care about your marriage other than having you as their source of income.
Everything starts with what she wants. She doesn't want to work. She doesn't want to pay for her own home. She doesn't want to stop playing pretend living in the same home. She doesn't want to think about how she could be a better wife. She sounds like my ex. She has some surprises coming in the future about how the world works when you act so entitled. Wow.
