Been playing with Pro Staffs ever since the 85 6.0, liked most of them. Would definitely try this one as soon as they bring out a black version. With the exception of the K-Factor (black-white-red) I think a Pro Staff should be mainly black.
We liked it with Lux ALU Power at 53 lbs; but have also enjoyed it with Solinco Hyper G at 52 lbs and even Lux Eco Power at 52 lbs. We didn't find this one to be string sensitive so it should work really well with almost any setup! Hope that helps! Michelle, TW
Are you referring to the Pro Staff Six.One 100 v13, this one: www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpage-WPS610.html? If so, we now have the update to that racquet the v14: www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpage-WPS614.html. This Pro Staff X v14 has a slightly different feel as it has a box beam, and the six one 100 has an oval beam, so the Pro Staff X feels slightly plush as the box beam typically flexes a bit different than the oval beam. That said, when I have hit with the six one 100, it feels a bit more precise, and although the stiffness rating might be slightly lower than the 100X, the Six One 100 feels a bit more firm or crisp; something that I have always noticed about the Six One, as I used to play with a couple different versions of the Six One 95 18x20. Troy, TW
Both offer a good amount of control and feel. The Blade 98 16x19 v8 feels a bit more precise, and the beam is slightly thinner with more flexibility, so it feels a bit more comfortable but also a bit lower in the energy return. This Pro Staff X v14 is a bit more forgiving in the headsize, and provides slightly easier power or energy return; it also feels a bit more headlight. Troy, TW
i have RF97 v11. Not entirely sure what the difference is but willing to try and curious to objectively compare if that's even possible given consumer patterns
Also an RF user here, hopefully some of my comments in the vid help here -- this racquet will offer an easier user-experience for sure without compromising feel or stability. It feels like an easier RF97! Will it have the same plow through? No. In my opinion, that is worth the trade off though because the RF is INSANELY stable so this "not as" stable option still offers good stability! Big sweetspot, quicker through the ball, easier power. And if you still want a bit more control and a smaller frame, try the standard Pro Staff 97 and you can meet in the middle. Zsofi ended up switching to this one and is still loving it! Hoping my comments don't come off as biased, I am pretty quick to be transparent on what I like and don't and I think this is a solid option to now be a part of the Pro Staff family! Happy to answer any further questions! Michelle, TW
The biggest difference is the flight of the ball off the stirngbed. The Pro Staff X has a more open string pattern so the ball has a higher arc to it. A good choice if you hit with a lot of topspin. If you are a flatter hit or want a lot of depth control, the Speed Pro is a great fit. Maneuverability is similar between the two. The Speed Pro has a softer, plusher feel from the frame for me, but the string pattern feels firmer due to the dense 18x20 string pattern (so lower launch angle and more directional control but a smidge less pace, depth and access to topspin). To close the gap between the two I have the Pro Staff strung 4 lbs tighter so it firms up the stringbed to give me a lower launch and better depth control. Hope that helps. Cheers, Chris, TW
That is somewhat tough to say, as the Pro Staff X is heavier overall but maneuvers pretty well for its weight. I would give the Blade 98 16x19 a slight more maneuverability overall, but it will come down to the actual swingweight of each racquet which can vary in a batch of racquets. Troy, TW
The Pro Staff is a bit more control oriented, likely closer to the TF40 315 . Pure Strike 16x19 and EZONE Tour pack a bit more punch. All of them are well liked racquets, I have a personal preference for the TF40 and EZONE Tour, but a lot of our testers like the Pro Staff X and Pure Strike. Troy, TW
At one point, it was an RF weighted up to Roger's exact specs...but then realized I'm not Roger and can't play a perfectly-attacking game in singles all the time, so now I'm playing a slightly weighted up (Osaka) Ezone 98! Austin, TW
@@kevinchu3546 No, my demo will be here Monday. A PS are just completely different racquets. PS is a pinpoint serve and volley type stick with all control and stiff and the Head Speed is a lighter/fast swinging flexible racquet. Way different feel.
Slightly better for hitting big topspin groundies and also easier to defend with, but not as good on slice, flat and touch shots. The PSX is the more forgiving of the two, but doesn't match the Speed Pro's precision for me. If there was a 16x19 version of the Speed Pro I think it would be more comparable. Cheers, Chris, TW
Would love to hear your perspective on the difference between this new X racquet and the Wilson Shift, since they're both new roughly around the same time, and it would be interesting / helpful for TW to compare racquets within the same brand that get close relative to specs and target audience - I'm struggling right now choosing between these two. Thanks!
Definitely a bit of a different feel between the two families with most people comparing the Shifts to between a Blade and Clash...and the Pro Staff offers that solid feel and controlled power as well as a thinner beam. They definitely flex differently, to me at least! And the string patterns offer some differences as well! If you can, demo both and get them on the court! I personally prefer the Pro Staff X over the shifts, but I love that solid feel and controlled power it offers! Michelle, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Awesome I will! Loving the Shift right now but very curious about the X. BTW I am beyond happy with TW sending me a 315 shift demo that was brand new (had to even remove the plastic from the grip)! Great opportunity to test with strings that are lively and not dead as in most demos. Thanks so much!!
I would say both are pretty control oriented, but the head shape and feel of the Pro Staff gives a bit more of a precise feel, very dialed into targets for a 100 headsize. Also there is a 15 gram difference in overall weight so that makes for a more stable feel on contact. Troy, TW
@@ssportslivetvstreaming - it won't change the frame stiffness by stringing it lower, but you might find some added comfort compared to higher tensions. I don't think you need to string it that low, but you can experiment and find what works best for you. Troy, TW
Both offer a lot of control, and feel, however the biggest difference will likely be the maneuverability facto. The Gravity Pro has a higher swingweight in the 330+ range which gives a lot of plow through, but can feel sluggish for some. So this Pro Staff X v14 feels more maneuverable, and whippy as we like to say, and beyond that much easier bite and spin on the ball from this Pro Staff, closer to the Gravity MP in that sense, whereas the Gravity Pro has an 18x20 pattern for more control, and yields a lower trajectory on groundstrokes. Troy, TW
Both are good options for control and feel. That said, the Gravity Pro is a bit lower in power, thinner beam and 18x20 pattern, and it also swings with a heftier feel having a higher swingweight. The Pro Staff X v14 offers easier maneuverability and easier access to spin. It would likely be closer to the Gravity MP, if you were to weight that racquet up to a similar weight as the Pro Staff X. Troy, TW
The EZONE 100 is lighter, and has a faster feel, while also providing easier access to power. This Pro Staff X v14 feels a bit more solid and stable, with some added control and feel; think Pro Staff 97 with a bit more forgiveness in the hitting area. Comparing to a Yonex it would be pretty close to the VCORE Pro 100 if you weighted it up to 315 unstrung (mostly handle weight). Troy, TW

How does this feel compared to the head speed mp auxetic? I like that racket but it sometimes feels Abit launchy, and lacks a slight amount of putaway power as the racket feels light
The Pro Staff X offers a bit more stability and plow through, from that higher mass (315g vs 300g). It also has a nice classic feel, with pretty good comfort. That said the Speed MP maneuvers a bit easier, and maybe just a bit more spin friendly, although spin is pretty close between the two. The Pro Staff X could be worth a try, or you could also consider adding a bit of weight to the Speed MP. A little bit of weight at the tip could go a long way in helping with plow and put-away power. Troy, TW
Why Wilson? The Pro Staff line is all about precision and feel, so a 100 sqi frame works against this. Give us a true mid sized frame instead, you know, 90-93 sqi. Hell, you could even rerelease the Pro Staff 90 and give it some special name. There are plenty of rec players who still prefer mid sized racquets. The last thing this world needs is yet another 100 sqi frame.
Probably 5 percent of the tennis community uses 95 inches or smaller. They would make zero money, that’s why they go this direction with a bigger head. It actually covers a good chunk of the market who want the precision and feel of a Prostaff but easier to use with a slightly bigger head. Very smart decision on their part. It got solid reviews too so obviously they knew what they were doing not going smaller lol
@@Mewborne89 Because the market is already saturated with 100 sqi racquets. If your 5% figure is correct, then it would make even more sense for Wilson to go after this market as they would have it practically all to themselves. People who like Pro Staffs tend to prefer smaller head sizes anyway as they want precision and feel.
This makes sense for me as a long time K90 user. I’m just no longer have the physique to wield one and need more help from a racket. But being spoiled by the prostaff feel I couldn’t play anything else but. PS97 would have been viable as well but a leap to 100 just get me settled for good.

Hi. Great review as usual! Which string setup for an all-aroud player do you suggest to enhance the power ofnthe racket? Thanks in advance…
The head shape looks more close to the PS 100 V13 than the PS97. Is that so or is the same shape in 100?
Sour grapes from Austin but you could tell the racquet was a star in Zsofi's hands.
well she probably hits flat more often then a man. so it responds better then man made heavy spin
I finally got the racquet and it has the very similar balance, weight and feel as my older Prostaff 97. I have no complaints.
