The fuel and brake lines were easy enough to shorten... the drive shaft I cut the yoke off of the rear by removing the weld. Shortened and welded it back together. A lathe is the best way to go on that job but it can be done by hand.
No, you have to cut the rear as well to fit a factory size bed. It’s about 6” difference as I recall. This is more an altered wheel base than true short bed.
Smaller turning radius and in some folks opinion, better, more sporty looking. Its a pretty popular modification with the Chevy truck crowd! I just did it for the heck of it!

I noticed you separated the bed floor from front & sides instead of sectioning out 16". How is the floor attached?
Spot welds. I figured that was easier than welding the across the entire bed floor. Thanks for watching!
Any chance you know if a long bed and short bed have the same amount of rear over hang? The finished pics look as though the proportions work out ok.

Rear is 4 inches to make the bed 6 . 5 feet overall

I didn’t take any off of the back. I think it would be best to have an actual SWB bed before I would go to that much trouble.

Ruining a good old truck. What advantage is there to making it shorter. I have a short box I wouldn't mind seeing turned into a longbox.
