The album is a Collaboration between Paul Simon and Lady Smith Black Mambaza, a South African vocal group. So wonderful

Not a collaboration. Paul Simon stole it from them and they had to go to court to get paid. He did the same to Los Lobos for the same record.

Joseph Shabalala of the group has co-writing credit with Paul Simon.

Paul Simon is a true gift. His work in Africa proves that music is a universal language that we can all accept, and love together. If we are going to ever get World Peace, it will be through music and not hate. Love ya man! ~N~

Thanks Ace! This was really something when it was first released - so innovative! I've always loved it. I could barely hear any construction noise.

I love this song; the whole album is really a great listen. I thought we could stick to the same theme, as in the African sound. Here's another group that has an African beat within this specific song. It is another song that's been used in movie, tv shows and commercials. So, in case you're interested. "The Tokens - The Lion Sleeps Tonight (Live)" (by the channel: cesr559) Love your reactions, Ace. Don't worry about the noise, the only time you could really hear it was after you stopped the music. But I could still hear you fine. Still haters are gonna hate...but Hey! that's life You just Keep doing you

    Rhythm of The Saints...Graceland...
    Both excellent albums...
    You listened to
💥... You Can Call Me Al..the horn section was identical..Chevy Chase was featured as the 'singer' lol..and Al Simon was the one retrieving instruments...
While traveling in Africa..Paul was influenced by the cultural sounds..beats..of the music..the tonality... shortly after arranged these albums to include the local talent and once again we have masterpiece collaboration...
If you enjoy smooth..listen to more of Paul Simon...
    Happy Thanksgiving Ace 🦃...

Great Reaction Thank you! If you liked this one, you might also like "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by the Tokens. It was one of the first songs with an "African" beat that got substantial airplay in North America. Originally written in 1938 by Solomon Linda in South Africa, the original Zulu was translated into English and covered by many pop and folk artists. The rendition by the Tokens went to number 1 in the charts in the U.S. in 1961 and it went on to earn millions in royalties from cover versions and film licensing. It is was of those instantly likeable songs that you will want to hear time and time again.

Honey you don't have to know what they're saying..just enjoy the ride. Paul collaborated with the beautiful singers from South Africa... Ladysmith Black Mambazo in 1987(?). The whole album Graceland ( named after Elvis Presley property), is fire! My late Dad's favourite album 😢
    Try, the song Graceland, next

This was from an era where real musicians from totally different locations, genres etc. were not afraid to try something new You might also like the band Juluka. Also, Peter Gabriel's Secret World Tour is great .

Shot in Zimbabwe. Paul got some of the best South African artists in this show- Ladysmith Black Mbazo ( the dancing singing men) , Hugh Masekela and Miriam Makeba.
If you like this - please react to Peter Gabriel live from his Secret World Tour on In Your Eyes. Many great African artists on this- and it’s spiritual and joyous. ❤

Paul Simon had their warm up recorded and then put what they came up with on the record and claimed songwriting and publishing. He stole it. Lady Smith Black Mambaza had to go to court to get paid. He did the same to Los Lobos.
