I just bought this watch yesterday. It was between this SRPJ45 (blue) or the SRPD59 (orange). I ended up liking the SRPJ more to it's unique dial. It's my first automatic watch and my first seiko watch. I find it interesting that in America, they have the days in English and Spanish (I think?) and here in Canada, the days are in English and French!
I did learn that screw down crowns wear out faster than a regular one and 100 m doesn’t need a screw down. So, this may be better for the long term use?
Not the biggest fan of that style of watch, but I liked that one. Tried to order a watch through Jomashop about six weeks ago and did not have a good experience. Ended up cancelling the order. Watch was to be shipped in two to three weeks, checked and was still availible two weeks later. No emails about it at four weeks and contacted them. They couldn't find the order at first and when they did, the watch was out of stock and they were waiting for the vender to update them. Another 10 days went by and I finally called and cancelled as I received and email update that they will be in stock in 3 to 5 days and will be shipped out. Sounds like two people odered the last one in stock and the second person, not me, got the watch and they kinda forgot that I ordered it. I'll give them another chance in the future, but first impression wasn't good.
Great looking watch. The only Seiko I am currently looking at is the SKZ211K1, but this is neat. Thank you so much for this review and for sharing your perspectives with us all. Much appreciated. Stay well, brother.
Great vid…yea I live Seiko but the 5 series fell flat with me. Also why did I have to buy an MM300 to get a signed crown?? I hope you do a video of your collection…you seem to have everything from the big boys down to $150 daily wears…would be neat to see!
Most informed watch enthusiasts are going with micro and Chinese over entry and mid-tier Seiko. Stamped clasps, soda can tin diver extensions, hollow ends, lack of pips, removed screw down crowns, terrible QC, and inaccurate out-of-spec movements complete with higher prices. Too many limited editions, which is sad when it comes to the 62MAS. All the reasons people purchased Seiko are no longer available, except in-house, lumibrite, and original designs. I wanted the recent 62MAS reissue, but when considering two terrible experiences in the past - including a $1,200 watch - and lack of customer service and few far-in-between service centers, I just purchased a BB54.
After watching this video, and considering all pros and cons I decided to buy this watch. For a long long time my first choice was Orient Triton (green) but once I found this Seiko, I was lost... Now the hardest part of buying, waiting for supply 😉
Dude as you know 100 m is over 300 ft. 99.9% of people won’t dive that deep or past it and 90% for people probably won’t even be in a body of water that goes past 300 ft.
Great review and thanks, Long Island Watch Company. On their website, I saw the Red Star Submarine watch and being a Navy Submariner and the Cheapwatchman, I think you should review this watch and see if blows the competition out of the water or just sink to the bottom?
Got mine on the Seiko OEM steel mesh bracelet...Great model The reason Seiko lost the screwdown crown is because customers would end up stripping threads on the SKX007 making it completely unwaterproof. The seals in the new models are fine ,even at 200m
Then that's a hard lesson...the fact ppl buy a piece of equipment - a tool (hence 'tool watch'), and use it incorrectly and damage it serves them right for not doing the proper research and learning how to use it correctly...If you use a wood chisel as a cold chisel and ruin it - too bad too sad...this is another example of pussification of MEN...'let's dumb it down because today's man can't handle a simple screw down crown?' The creator of this channel giving your comment a heart? Are you two for real? Ah well...fall is almost here - enjoy your pumpkin spice latte boys...
This one is cool in a way but sadly the best Seiko 5 Watches are long out of production. (yes, I am aware of the need for clickbait in the title in order to catch the algorithms lol)
Well a 30m watch will take on water if you go swimming with it so I doubt a 100m watch could actually be used nearly that far down. There is a reason 200m is the baseline for dive watches. A 100m dive watch without a screw down crown is just weird. If you’re going to make it look like a dive watch why not make it an actual dive watch?
lets talk value, how about a video on this watch "Seiko Kinetic Green Dial Brown Leather Men's Watch SKA791" your buddy's at jomashop have the best price now ..... really unique watch drive caliper .....
I have read many times about how someone just bought their first watch with a screw-down crown and they didn't know how to use it / they thought it was stuck and wouldn't pull out. Seiko is trying to appeal to a much broader group with this new line, with all of the new colorways, and I think they (wisely) knew that these new customers would just get annoyed with a screw-down crown.
You can find cheaper prices elsewhere but as an AD, Marc is limited in his price flexibility. And since it’s somewhat new prices are higher; they’ll drop soon enough.
@@MikeSmith-er1qs it is SEIKO’s pricing, not Marc’s. These watches aren’t worth these prices. SEIKO has increased all of their prices without increasing the quality to support it.
@@MarkM58 I realize it’s seiko’s pricing…. That was my point. Marc is limited as an AD in his price flexibility, but you can get these from other sellers at lower prices just like EVERY OTHER Seiko!!!!
Not worth the watch or the review...Seiko-known for dive watches takes an iconic model the SKX-discontinues it-relaunches it looking like the icons c dive watch but without the dive capabilities...who in their right mind would waste their time and money on it... it's like a reproduction of a great painting for more money...if it looks like a diver without a screw down crown and at least 200m of water resistance, (read this as quality build-not just depth rating), look elsewhere

I own this watch, and it’s killer! The bezel action is fidget-tastic too!

Sapphire Cristal is a must in 2023/4 catch up Seiko no one prefers hardlex over sapphire.
Right you are. Come on Seiko, step up your game!

I`m still on the fence with these dials, but they are growing on me. I might have to build a few lol. Great video man!
I love my SPRD95, the first automatic I bought on my own. I like yours as well. Great watches! Good work on your show!

My guess why it wasn't made with a screw-down crown? Didn't wan't it to compete with the hard-lex turtle and samurai, best explenation I can think of.

100 m, I don’t even fish that deep…. Plus my pool is only 8’ deep, I’m good… 😂
Got it for 230 Dollars! Its a great looking watch for sure!
There is an orange/amber version.
buy, customize it.. replace to sapphire and stainless steel insert bezel.
100m its enough

If I'm ever 100 meters deep in water it's because I'm probably dead.

Lame decision not to have a screw down crown. Hey are you going to review the Orient Mako 3? 😊
No screw in crown to differ from high level Seiko watches. Anything other than that makes no sense.

22mm not 20mm straps
Why are those nice watches always so glossy ? 😞
a little pricy for a seiko 5 , which are best ignored vs being owned
It seems like 1/2 a watch. But that dial is pretty damn hot. 🥵
How about a classy Seiko 5 with a matching wifi stereo amp for review..... na just joking !!!!! lol
Seiko is slacking dude. No sapphire and pressed clasp for about $450 cad. No thanks. I like orient more anyways.
Agreed! It’s unacceptable not to have sapphire crystal, or a better clasp at this price. Hopefully Seiko loses business to Orient and wakes up.
Ok its a Seiko but for +300$ I'd rather pick up a nice homage for half the price with better specs, thx for the video
$335 for a Seiko 5 is ridiculous. You get a much better watch from San Martin for that amount of money. Spend a little more and get a Steinhart.
