In 94-95, Mandela Cup (4 Nation tournament including Pak, SL, NZ & host SA) was held. Pak did very well in league matches & reached to final as top team without Wasim Akram. Akram joined the team before finals, everyone thought now Pak became invincible. But Pak lost 1st 2 finals (best of 3) to SA badly.
No doubt Wasim Akram is one of greatest (Among top 5/6) in crivket history. But there is some serious doubts about his honesty, integrity.

@eX Calibur that's not the case, watch highlights, most of the batsmen except Sachin gave catch practice. That's why it seems fixed. Moreover, most of the matches in 90s were fixed. Again read my comment, I said even Quarter Final, where India defeated Pakistan, a much stronger team, was also fixed.

@Manish SabuGlad that you support Akram. Those two incidents you mentioned, are the part of game and in Worldcups we witness the most favorite team lost. There is no need to go in details but when Miandad could have played the whole series with back issues and Imran Khan played the whole World cup92 with injured shoulder, .......No matter what reasons were, Akram completely failed to lead the very strong side which has immense talent. Rhetorically, even if I would be a captain of that specific team, I just had to lead them and stay on the ground with them, rest the team assures. In pressure matches captaincy played a vital role, the example of Dhoni and Sachin are here, Dhoni lead the side whereas, how great Sachin was as a batsman, he failed as a leader.

Because of good bowling conditions, used one bowl for whole innings that gives reverse swing, big grounds, approach of batsman, used of powerplay and quality of bat. I wondered when people compare batters from 90s and current ppl said those were tough conditions for batting thats why batters of 90s are better and these same ppl said 90s bowler were better but they forgot one thing if 90s was tougher for batters then automatically it made good conditions for bowling and if conditions of today is good for batters than it is tougher for bowlers so if we goes by their logic then current era bowlers are much better

I am one of the greatest fan of Wasim Akram . But I am disappointed with the fact that he did not played 1996 Quarter Final . And also disappointed with the 1999 world cup final . Pakistan was the most favourite in that world cup .

Waheed Khan sahib is a top sports journalist who writes in English. I still remember he wrote about Hassan Sardar's mercurial goal in the Asia Cup final against India as if he is writing English poetry. Hassan Sardar scored that goal on a solo run by dribbling through the entire Indian team defense and dodged all 5 defenders and in the end before scoring the goal with a push deceived the Indian team goal keeper showing him that he will put the ball on goalkeepers right side and instead placed it on the left and scored. This goal's video was for few years stayed on the top of the reruns of German Sports Hockey section of the national library. Waheed Khan sahib wrote something like," Mercurial Pakistani striker Hassan Sardar collected the few yards inside the half line of the newly laid astro turf at the Hockey club of Pakistan at Karachi and started his bon voyage in the middle area of the field. Waheed Khan sahib wrote it as if Shakespeare's poem. Unfortunate people who did not even watch it on TV, live telecast due to the efforts of Akhtar Viqar Azim bahi sahib missed a Pakistan's best striker Hassan Sardar's goal, and in the history of Pakistan Hockey this kind of goal has not been scored before and so far even after. Bt like I said Aus was equally good as they used to deliver when it matters. Bt having said that Pakistan should have reached Semi final of 2003 W.C. Bt there is no if's and but's in sports. What’s the objective of calling Wasim Akram a fixer when he wasn’t officially charged as such, there’s no official and credible evidence supporting such allegations, and fixing at a much bigger scale happens throughout the cricket world, specially India, but no one even talks about it officially? What will it do other than giving a bad name to Pakistani cricket and one of the all-time greats of cricket. If there is official evidence proving that he was a fixer than hang him and I’ll have no objection. But if there is no credible evidence stop talking about it and giving bad name to Pakistan cricket. I never hear the Indians talking about fixing done by Dhoni or the Aussies discussing what M Waugh and Warne did.
You do hear Indian discussing Parbharkar, Azharuddin and Ajay Jadeja often but not alleged fixers like Raina, Ravi Jadeja etc.
Wasim, Inzimam, Ijaz etc all were named in Justice Qayyum report but many of those names still got associated with our board in one capacity or the other. There should be a reason for them being named in JQ report.

Due to lack of evidence wasim got away but he was stripped of captaincy and the judge also said wasim was certainly not clean. He got saved bcoz ata ur rehman changed his statement at the last moment .
I think people didn't see the match between Pakistan and New Zealand before the Pak v Ind semi final, Akram injured his shoulder and didn't bowl in the NZL innings at all. So he was unfit before the India game.

Wasim Akram was a great player, but he cannot win every match for his team. Pakistan only care about match with India, they keep on saying if Wasim had played in 1996 QF Pakistan could have won. Because of good bowling conditions, used one bowl for whole innings that gives reverse swing, big grounds, approach of batsman, used of powerplay and quality of bat. I wondered when people compare batters from 90s and current ppl said those were tough conditions for batting thats why batters of 90s are better and these same ppl said 90s bowler were better but they forgot one thing if 90s was tougher for batters then automatically it made good conditions for bowling and if conditions of today is good for batters than it is bad for bowlers
