Thanks for sharing. The personal history behind all of it makes it so much better. I totally appreciate the memories and sentiments. Keep on the traditions!!!!
Great representation of a Midwest Deer camp! And we use the Rule that you mentioned has to be a bigger buck than any buck you’ve shot prior. And a Euro mount at a minimum and all mounts stay at deer camp which is a 6400 sq fr log home.
Thanks for comment!!.....yes, I do that all the time. Works great like you say. I also like boot warmers that plug in and I can keep boots on them overnight to also dry
How fun , a local you tuber .... I go past your place every day ! ..... I have been watching the woods clearing progress , and thought some one was going to build in there ... but now we know the rest of the story . An oak savanna in the making ......
Appreciate the comment!! Yes, much work happening. Enjoy watching it over the upcoming years. its going to be ugly in 2024 as we prep for planting with native grasses and wildflowers. 2025 will still be messy but by 2026 it should look great. So happy my neighbor also joined with me.
@@LandWhisperer .... I will be fun watching nnow that we know what we are seeing ! You can go riding at Jay's , and get nice grass fed beef just down the road too ...
We have 750 acres here in East Texas and have the same "rules." If you want to shoot a great buck you have to pass on the good ones. Great video! Lasting memories are made at deer camp.
Agreed, Thanks for comment! Its been difficult some years convincing hunters to pass on 1.5 yr old bucks........Glad our current camp is "letting them grow"
Great capture of WI deer camp!! Brings back lots of memories for me. The camp and relationships were always better than the hunt for us. We were up in Ashland county. So is your home on the same property as your trailer/camper?
Thanks for nice reply! Agreed the people make the camp for sure. My dad was born and hunted in Ashland. I have never hunted Northern Wisconsin.....maybe some day. My home is separate and not in same location as deer camp
Northern WI is desolate compared to any other location in WI for deer. Your place looks much more robust, stick with what ya got. If you want to go up north hunting go in early fall and atv or bird hunt, lots of land up there to roam around. Good luck next year!
Excellent hunting! like your style. great video work. you will get the buck your looking for. persistence will pay off for you. I have a question for you, do you have to be drawn a tag in Iowa to hunt public land???
Appreciate your comment!! Yes a good hunt. Hunting seems quite different now that I'm older versus hunting years ago as a young person. Much less excitement now but much more meaning and joy
We are in Portage county. How is the deer population up North? Been hearing its still falling. do you think its wolves or bears or also possibly the forests getting too mature and not enough clear cuts and fire??
@@LandWhisperer I have a house and a few acres up there and we hunt on public about 2 miles away. The deer seem to relate to the same areas that people inhabit and stay in the area of cabins/houses. Maybe it's that some folks are feeding, but I know my direct neighbors are not feeding. There are many deer in that area, I harvested a ragged rack, but good size 6 pointer Sunday morning of opening weekend. I've had property up there for 25 years and I've never seen a wolf, heard a couple but never seen. Now, coyote on the other hand are more likely the problem if there is one.
great video 11k for a forty i bought my 40s in far northern wi in 1970 along with new car i was 19 paid 3400 for car and 33 dollars an acer still have car and land probably be laid out in car buried on property love your camp

Great friends, great stories, great food. Can't ask for more than that. Thanks for sharing.
Appreciate your comment!. Its a simple camp where we all get along and have fun.

Thanks for comment! We have, I think, a good rule now. If you shoot you have to be willing to spend the money......otherwise let it grow!!
Very cool video. Thank you for sharing and explaining everything. That is so neat!!
Thanks for encouraging comment!
appreciate the reply!! We have lots of fun now that deer hunting is not a competition
"The Land" is Legendary. So many great memories and more to come!

Great camp! I belong to a good camp in AL, but am wanting to start my own tradition with my kids. Looking for land in KY now.
Thanks for comment. the camp is almost 50 years old. good luck finding one for your family!!
Your camp is very similar to mine. Especially the roof work. Great video.
Appreciate the comment!! The roof was an adventure in cursing but turned out great and has lasted over 30 years so far
Awesome video… stand your ground always..👍🏾 God bless

Great looking Camp .... reminds me of ours in PA
Thanks, we have fun.......my video for 2024 should be out in a week or so
I agree artic shield boot covers work great. I put my little hand warmers in them and they work great

Point Beer! haven't had any of that 50 years! last time was nickel beer night at 17 yrs old in one of those old fishing taverns on Lake Winnebago!
Sturgeon spearing on Winnebago.....so much fun..........Point Beer is still in business! 25 cents for a Shorty Miller back in my day
Man, you guys got a lot of big doe
Yes, too many does for sure. Trying to reduce them but the old guys I hunt with grew up not shooting does so its a challenge
Excellent hunting! like your style. great video work. you will get the buck your looking for. persistence will pay off for you. I have a question for you, do you have to be drawn a tag in Iowa to hunt public land???
Appreciate the reply!! We hunt in wisconsin so i dont know about Iowa. Looking forward to a late season doe if it can stay warm
In my book you had a successful hunt.
Appreciate your comment!! Yes a good hunt. Hunting seems quite different now that I'm older versus hunting years ago as a young person. Much less excitement now but much more meaning and joy
@LandWhisperer I hunt in Vilas County on public land, wondering what County your camp is in?
We are in Portage county. How is the deer population up North? Been hearing its still falling. do you think its wolves or bears or also possibly the forests getting too mature and not enough clear cuts and fire??

2023 Gun Season was a bust for me. Glad I took a doe with the bow cause I didn't see any bucks during the bow or gun season within range!
Looking forward to 2024 season....video out soon

Appreciate the comment!! You and I have the same love.......Land and Cars. Live long!!
What part of northern Wisconsin? I bought a home on 40 in Glidden Wisconsin area.
You have so many adult does. Make sure you have a good ratio of bucks and does. Too many does isn’t good.
Yes agreed......doe harvest will be priority in 2024. stay tuned for that video
Must not like to eat venison, you had plenty of opportunities
Trails all over, no one walk in the woods? Could wear a three piece suit!
Interesting comment. Like it. Appreciate your interest
