Great review, thanks! The Godin both sounds and looks beautiful.

About a year and half ago I was looking at a 000-15 and decided to try a Godin fairmount composer purely because it was similar on paper, I walked out of the store with it and am still happy with it. Since then I've added a new old stock Dorchester bass and a used (2002) SDxt.

I just bought the Godin. I find it is brighter than the Martin in tone. Very beautiful guitar well worth the money. Mine doesn't have the eq on the outside, just plug and play, tone and volume. Wouldn't mind the Martin either. Great review thanks

Is the quality of the build and tone equal to that of the Martin d15m? Less? Better? I guess I am asking if the Godin feels around it's price point or if it sounds and feels like a guitar much more expensive than it it. Thanks!

I think the guitars aren't really much better than each other. The Martin sounds warmer and the Godin sounds much brighter. This totally depends on what you're looking for. If you don't have much of a budget I would aim for the Godin otherwise go for the Martin if you can't decide.

If I'm not mistaken, the Godin still uses epoxy in the neck joint, which makes it nearly impossible to perform neck reset work in the future. Probably not a big deal on a $400 model, but much bigger deal with a $1k pricetag.

Nice review! Really like the Godin. Nice and clear without being overly bright. The Martin sounds good too, but I think it would shine in more specific applications.

Thanks for the comment! I personally believe Godin gets slept on when it comes to guitars. I have two Seagulls and they play and sound incredible!

some are gonna hate me for this... but I like the sound of the Godin better, I also just picked up a new S&P Woodland Pro Folk last weekend. What a guitar and it sounds amazing. I'm a huge fan of S&P now.

Good find! Those are discontinued I believe so not only is it a great guitar, it'll be a rare one too! We had one in stock for a while and I was tempted to pick it up for myself before it was sold.

Nobody should hate you for this. Godin isnt a cheap brand and they make their stuff in North America so there is no shame if some stuff they make sound as good as american made guitars.

I'm a HUGE fan of hogtops, so this was fun. I actually like the Godin more, it has a clearer, more articulate tone that I really enjoy. I also like the Martin make no mistake, in fact I own the Sigma DMC-15E which is a copy that Martin and I love it, but the Godin speaks to me more and I feel it would resonate with me better while singing than the earthier tone of the Martin. Great video!

Thanks for the kind words! I'm a huge Godin fan myself, I've actually traded a Martin and two American Fenders for my 3 Godins!

@@TheOctaveMusicCentre I've never played a Godin specifically but I have played and LOVED every Seagull I've ever touched and I know Godin makes those, so I'd love to check out a proper Godin someday!

The Martin sounds "Dead" compared to the Godin. I said what i said......

The Godin seems to lack the warm tone that one tends to seek in a mahogany guitar. Not so for the Martin.

The Godin looks like sapele, a close cousin of mahogany. The D-15m is the real deal. Godin DOES make a great guitar though.

That's just the finish, I spoke with the Godin rep and he let me know that it is genuine Mahogany for the Metropolis!

    • @AnkitSingh-vx4dy
      @AnkitSingh-vx4dy Рік тому

Looks are deceptive . On martin's website it says only mahogany on this one and genuine mahogany on D 18. So in fact martin is playing games here not Godin. Don't go by looks. As octave said Godin told him it's genuine mahogany which you wont get on Martin until you spend $2800
