It took me a year to get around to this after my last comment. The most difficult bit was finding the bloody wires after I fed them through the grommet in the firewall. After that easy especially since you'd already identified the correct wire to cut and splice the switch wiring into. Thanks, works great.
Back in the day I used to see people that had a switch that used to make it wink back and forth continuously on each side it was awesome and the late night car shows
Sweet video. I tried this on my 91 miata but it works opposite of winking. When the lights are up and flip the switch in the car nothing happens but if i flip the switch and then turn the lights on, one stays down while the other pops up. Then flipping the switch again the second one pops up.
Would this work if the lights are down. Flip the switch and then pressed the pop up button. Would this only make one go up? Or do they both have to be up for it to work.
That’d be neat, but a lot of custom fabrication work. I haven’t seen pop up conversions on any modern car, so you’d be one of the first. That’d be a project for you to figure out on your own!
every miata can do the wink, when the lights are down, press the button as the lights are coming down, double press the button(basically turn them off and on again) then bam ur car winks, u dont need no mod or damage the OEM wiring.
That modification actually makes that car look really cute...
Yes I Know Front Bumper Of That Smile
I agree
o h b o i, i remember seeing an meme and it had an W written on it and U written on each headlight and uhh- you already know-

@@your_average_cultured_dude OwO whats this?
every miata should have this
... from the factory😂
DaVinci2019 first they gotta bring back the pop up headlights

That definitely is the hardest part. Glad the video helped you!
Awesome video, I liked it so much I actually went to the store immediately after watching it and did the mod myself
I'm am doing that this afternoon thanks for such an easy install video
How’d it go
@@AnthonyDLH it was super easy
2:45 i can just imagine a highschool student doing this while looking at a girl and then putting the pedal to the floor, idk why.
As can I! It's mostly used to wink at other miatas in the real world
I'm literally 16 and just got a Miata sooooo you'll nvr guess what I was thinking this would be good for
That's basically the reason I'm watching this video lmao
Will gowan same 😂 except by the time your reading this im 17, and have already set her up 😂
THAT'S SO CUTEEEEEE! now I really want a miata 😭
Back in the day I used to see people that had a switch that used to make it wink back and forth continuously on each side it was awesome and the late night car shows
How to flirt on other cars 😉
Excellent! And so easy. I'll be doing this mod soon just for a bit of fun
Gonna do this once I get a Porsche 944.
It'd look hilarious because the 944 looks a little shell-shocked with the headlights up.
Just a heads up the 944 lights have a single motor that moves both lights so you can't do it this same way. Best of luck though!

cool wire strippers, where from?
When you drive by ur crush
I cut my ground on that side but the headlight still goes up and down, any idea why? I have a 91 Miata
What type of wires did you use?
Based off of this: bigbendmiataclub.org/ephar/index.html . I'm thinking 16-14 gauge.
Surprisingly easy!
can you do this but have two buttons one for each headlight as well as having the original button do both?
I cut the black wire and the headlight motor is still working...???
yeah mine too...
@@octinojdm2906 have you found a solution mine is doing the same!!???
@@jameslong3375 use the red or white wire instead. At least in my 91 that's how I got it to work

That would only make one go up, the switch basically cuts power off to one light
Should just wire each motor to an analog controller so you can do it for each
You could, it’d end up being more work than this
You sound like Chris Fix
Why did he remove the cruise control?
why u need cruise control on NA ?
wont work on a s13.... head lamp motor are grounded by the chasis
Is this possible on a supra because I want that
If the headlights are controlled by individual motors it will be!
@@CashedOutCars Thanks
Where is that blue wire being connected to?
If I ever get an NA MX5 or any car with pop up headlights this is the first thing I'll do
Gonna do this on my 91’ 3000GT
Does it matter what wire you use to extend it to the interior?
Just make sure it's approximately the core is the same thickness (slightly thicker is preferable) as the wire you're splicing into
How do they pop up and down so fast?
Does this only work with miatas??
I cut the wire but everything still functions I don't know why?
To do list on my toyota celica 1993
What kind of Tools and Supplies would I need? (The name)
this is fucking hysterical
Im gonna do this to my MX-5
Awesome!
How did he screw a switch into a blank?
I drilled a hole and the switch has a threaded collar that holds it on!
anyone know how much this would also apply for a 91 capri?
now my miata is gonna being more cute
Actually i want to install this light in my MITSUBISHI Lancer 2003! Help
That’d be neat, but a lot of custom fabrication work. I haven’t seen pop up conversions on any modern car, so you’d be one of the first. That’d be a project for you to figure out on your own!
Could this be done on any pop ups?
It can be done with any pop ups that have individual motors per headlight
Where did you get that kit?
It's all custom!
is this work for other popups car?
Yes, if it has individual headlight motors
oh ok, thx info dude
Hi cash could you dont on a 98 firebird if yes could you reply with a video are a yes to tell me i can an yeah teach me I want to wink at other cars
Hi, I’m not sure, but if it has individual headlight motors it will work. If it doesn’t it’s much tougher
Does this work on Corvette c4?
If it has independent headlight motors it'll work!
@@CashedOutCars awesome! Ty
Can a 93 celiac do it?
If there’s an individual motor for each light, yes. If not, not easily
what is is switch called?
It's a toggle switch
It had to be a freaking miata XD
ill make this on my ae86 now my headlight can’t be open again gg🤧😓
as if the miata wasnt cute enough already
does it work on corvette c5
If it has individually controlled motors this method could be used!
did you ever do this?
Why not just unplug the pop up motor on one side...
Your light on that side would be permanently up or permanently down until you plugged it back in.. this allows full control from inside the car
every miata can do the wink, when the lights are down, press the button as the lights are coming down, double press the button(basically turn them off and on again) then bam ur car winks, u dont need no mod or damage the OEM wiring.
That doesn’t work nearly as reliably as this
Doing this on my firebird tomorow just to throw people off
It’s time to start complaining about root car insurance. I loathe that company and the ad
Supra? but supra does not have pop ups
Older ones did!
*wink wonk*
