I have a huge amount of appreciation for people who give their pets large and nice enclosures and that might be the sweetest I’ve ever seen. Those turtles are getting what they deserve for sure! Great job
I wish all pet owners would show this much respect. Rabbits should never be living in those small cages. Dogs should never live outside on the end of a chain.😩🙏
@@tinawindham6958I used to work in a pet store and grooming shop in a very affluent area on Long Island and I'll give you the opposite extreme. Many of my customers kept their dogs in crates nearly 24/7 and only let them out to go to the bathroom outside a couple times a day. You could really tell a dog lived in a cage when you saw their feet and the way they splayed or their posture from being cooped up in a tiny cage they could barely stand up in.
These are truly world class habitats he has built (and in only 6 months????); the guy is nothing short of an artist in my opinion. Bravo.
More episodes of his facility please!
Mitch Newhouse
Mitch Newhouse has to work to make me a big big
_ _ did you not understand. They will die 😂
_ _ you are stupid
@-- Did you not hear that the weather is to harsh for them...
2:14 This tortoise is just ridiculously comfortable with being picked up by a giant being
What a nice setup! My mum lives in Cairo with her husband and they have an Egyptian tortoise that just rocked up there one day and has been living with them ever since. I think she said its been there for 60 odd years.
Annarene Victor Hello, please answer as soon as possible as I need help with tortoises in Egypt.
Like do you know any good vets? I can’t any.
Also, where would you get your heat cool bulbs and UVB bulbs from? Also, what about substrate?
Species: Egyptian and Greek tortoises.
Annarene Victor Please answer as soon as possible, mate.
I live in central Russia. In Moscow, turtles, unfortunately, are not found, but in other regions there are different types of aquatic turtles. In the near Kazakhstan land tortoises walk in crowds. In Russia, these reptiles cost very little.
Great & beautiful story!
Dominus Providebit egypt ain’t hot 🤦♂️ it gets real cold at night
I have two Russian Tortoises, they are outside right now enjoying the summer. Both are in their twenties and have at least 30 years left if not longer. That's the great thing about Tortoises, they live a long time.
Wow those Egyptian Tortoises are PRECIOUS! I just rescued a little box turtle and I love him, but those little Egyptians are truly adorable, that tortoise table is a dream 💗I really love this video!
Extremely pampered tortoises, which is great, but they are hardy creatures. I had a Texas gopher tortoise captured from a desert road in Nevada as an adult, and transported to Montana. We just let it roam freely around the house, and it would sleep near the heat vents. Fed it veggies and fruits and let it decide what it wanted to eat. It liked red licorice and tinsel off of the Xmas tree. We let it live in the garden in the summer. It would escape regularly and wander all over the neighborhood. It was amazing that we were able to recover it each time. I took it with me to Los Angeles, CA. and Phoenix AZ, so it tolerated any climate.
I'm not saying that is the way to keep a tortoise, but I was young and ignorant, yet it thrived no matter what conditions it faced. I kept it for 20 years and eventually gave it to a knowledgable custodian.
I was traveling by car, not airplane. I was changing residence, so naturally I had to take all my possessions, including my pet.
Eros Hermes, why not? They're not less than a cat or a dog. We have a 16 year-old turtle and a 4 year-old Russian tortoise and we would never leave them behind.
great story.
Wow. That turtle/tortoise room is dreamy. Amazing.
Thank you for the episode! I'm waiting until I buy a house to adopt a tortoise, and this really gave me some ideas for the tortoise table!
Expecting our first tortoise from Chris this spring/summer. Can't wait to get our little Egyptian home. Great video. You can tell Chris has lots of passion and love for turtles and tortoises.
I love watching my turtle hunt. He learned that tapping noises on the back patio meant that grubs were going to be on the loose (I was tapping the container against the ground to shake them out) so he'd get so excited and chase them down.
I love my Egyptian tortoise she is so clam and peaceful the Definition of an angel
So cool Kenan. I live in Cape Town South Africa and my Angulate Tortoise grew up roaming my yard. It rains and gets down to 35 degrees fahrenheit in winter sometimes and it's no issue for my tortoise, even with no artificial heating. Such a cool species.
This video is amazing for showing permanent indoor enclosures. I live in NY and want to expand my tortoises but was unsure where to begin!
The first species is cute! I will do research, I want one
Armored Wings considered a Russian tortoise or a horesfeild
Herman’s are good to there not as big as Russia’s but lager the them
So tiny!(Egyptian) I knew they were the smallest but have never seen one.
I have a Hermann for indoors with daily outside sun visits, hes a great indoor tortoise 🙌😊 the kids and I love him.
Believe it or not, all my childhood I remember seeing these all the way east in Swaida Syria. Southern part of Syria. As of today I recall family members still seeing them around in spring. From Syria to Libia
Thats so cool!
That habitat is amazing, would love to know how he did that light setup….I need it!
Woooow, what a beautiful set up...would be great to see such a set up from start to end... need some inspo for my tortoise room ;)
I’ve have two horsfield torts for few years now and they are very easy care and they are sweethearts one male one female, they love attention when they hear me at any given time and they come to me not just to feed. They are in a 6’x4’x4’ inclosure. Why not mention them in the best of torts to keep as a pet? I wouldn’t trade my two little darlings for any other species. They are sweethearts non aggressive and a joy to watch and to love.
you shouldn’t keep them together... that size is to small
Great episode as always!!!
you're profile pic is crocodile skink
Yep I have 1.2 of this species, one of my favorites
+Xtreme Pro Exotics cool
i have a russian tort and i love him so much!!!
noahwolfmaster me too
Where did you buy it and for how much? I would like to buy one as well.
Sounds Of Harmony Craigslist and about 65 or 75 dollars for my brothers
Do they like to be handled?
mine died a few weeks ago :(
Hello people I need some help with building the first enclosure you see in the video what do I need? And what plants did he plant and what soil is he using and were did you get the rocks?
That giant upright roundish table is beautiful. Just wow. I wish I had that in my house. 😅
you have to add that the Egyptian tortoises is an indangered and threatened specieswhich are gathered with extreamly dangerous numbers..even smuggled out of preserves and are illeagally transported outside of egypt for the foreign pet trade.
Not an expert by any means, I and I no longer live in that region, but the Angulates it is true summer is unbearably hot and winter is miserably drizzly and cool, I am not sure how relevant this is but we had a couple who lived in the rock garden in our garden and I did notice they never eat anything but fynbos( extremly woody herb based plants) could this be the reason for the reproductive challenges? Fynbos is famous for being very alkeline and (although contradictory) very tannin rich, could general body Ph be affecting egg development? The most famous examples of Fynbos are Rooibos and Buchu (both are made into tea's for human consumption) but benefits touted for both of them is extreme amounts of anti oxidants and changes to blood Ph, another thing to concider is the fibre content which is also way more extreme than general grasses and shrubs.....Again not an expert, and never actually kept the species but these are thoughts I have based on what the diets I saw them eat are.
@-- Dude I'm seeing you post this comment everywhere we get what you're trying to say but holy hell you don't need to post this comment everywhere and some people know what they're doing
My angulate tortoise starting running to me and following me only after a few years since I got her. I do live in South Africa, Cape Town. I've had another one many years before that gave me many offspring, but has to give that one to a new owner due to my dog I had at that time who would turn the tortoise over. The tortoises are all outdoor.
All the eggs that I have had that hatched were all outside where they were laid in the sand. Maybe you should they will do better if you keep them in sand and try and emulate the weather in specifically Cape Town. Yes it get very hot here but also very cold and it can and does rain lots at times. It's because it's south Africa and not Africa haha.
A guy who lives next to my cousin has a few of these tortoises as well and they keep on giving him more ones, also all are outside and the eggs hatch outside.
Awww I love the wittle wurtles
I have a sulcata tortoise he is 44 pounds
How old is he?? I have been wanting to get one but I have conflicting information about how fast they grow
@@madisonbullock344 they double in size every year
ImaGiraffe stop giving wrong information
right when you said 'this is a full on turtle hunt' an ad popped up, had to rewind a little just to get that jump scare feeling back :). love these videos, keep them coming.
I have a Hermanns tortoise that I love so much :)
That is the kind of turtle I'm thinking about getting I mean tortoise they're so cute
Is he difficult to care for?
You've really got me interested in this type of stuff I wanna do what you do when I get older
Start keeping a few... They last long... Might not have enough time to enjoy them later...
tortoises are thee absolute cutest..
My 1 year old Sulcata often makes squeak sound 3-4 times a day. Do you think this is normal?
Great video and info thanks
Cherry Heads are the best. For outdoors, indoors you name it. Best tortoise and they're beautiful.
Hey, which type of Tortoise 🐢 is recommend for a 1st time buyer? This would also be my 1st pet. I really like the Egyptian
GUESS WHAT I SHOWED MY MOM THIS VID AND SHE SAID IF I CAN GET MY ACT TOGETHER, AND FIND ONE UNDER $150 SHE'LL CONSIDER IT!!!!!!!!!!
Don’t buy wild caught and do research!!!
@@RandomC360 aw C'mon
You think I'd buy wild caught!?!?? Srsly I wound buy wind caught EVER, i mean it just sounds so cruel to the animal, just getting plucked out of the wild and probably into horrible living conditions☹️ not to mention all the sicknesses they can have, also, I've loved reptiles from a Very young age and I've been researching most torts and their care requirements for idk 6 years, but it's so cool that every time I talk to a breeder,or read husbandry books, or go on websites, there's always new to see. Thanks tho for the concern! :-)
Did you get your act together?
Lol hey! Did you get your act together??

The trick to Spengleri eggs is to let them cool down for a short period. I spoke to the Denver Zoo reptile curator about it.
Eternal question:
I have asked it to many people, but I don’t get any straightforward answer. So I
ask Kamp Kenan for an answer. Why tortoises are kept more like mammals than other
reptiles? I mean most tortoises are given a lot of outdoor spaces to roam, they
have open tanks, keeping them indoors is like a last resort method, they eat varied
food, they get exercise etc. Also I think tortoise keepers tend to anthropomorphize
their animals a lot. ON the other hand most lizards and snakes are kept in more
clinical/sterile/controlled conditions, have much less space. And even large diurnal
species in the appropriate climate are rarely housed outside. Tortoises are kept
like cold-blooded livestock and squamates (lizards/snakes) are kept like aliens.
Also the tortoise hobby and the lizard/snake hobby are parallel but different. Different
shows, different publications, etc, and people who keep the one group usually don’t
keep the other. Why?
As Leonardo and the others would say, TURTLE POWER!
Необыкновенная красота, браво!
great video guys! great colab
I've wanted a tortoise but the ones I knew were too big, this is an amazing discovery, can I get a list of what I would need exactly for these kind of tortoise, and also what would be the easiest to keep in PA?
Love the Egyptian tortoise, they are small when adult, tricky to keep the habitat suitable!
“Micro climates”me thinking of micro biomes in minecraft
The black breasted leaf turtle named after a radioactive dinosaur named for a whale ape... awesome
I love Box Turtles in General American and Asian Box turtles. There fast also, you put them down for a 5 secs or even 3 then BANG There gone.
tortoises and turtles are my next favourite after iguanas.
have always wanted an Egyptian tortoise, but last I heard they were illegal to keep due to being so endangered....another perk of a zoo keeper wife or has this changed? either way rad video
This enclosure is amazing😍😍😍 wish I could build something that big for my baby!
My mans was working up a sweat just standing and talking lol
One of the best indoor tortoise enclosure iv ever seen!
@kampkenan @gardenstatetortoise sooo glad I found this oldie!❤
2salcuta, 2russians, Herman, 3egyptian, leopard, a star, 2pancakes, just got a redfoot, a hinge back, and looking at a gopher. Now starting on the aquatic turtles :)
I have a hose field tortoises and they are the cutest things
Beautiful tortoise facility, wish I had enough money to build a beautiful room like this.
i could watch this all day
You are one of the most inspiring people in the world.Believe it or not, I would have definitely wanted to be your neighbor . You Rock.
(OH, in case you have problem in spelling my name, it's Sam ,from India) :)
I’m considering this because I’ve always wanted a tortoise but I have always thought that they where huge but this is awesome. Now I want to know how do you clean their poop I haven’t seen a video explaining how to clean their cage.
I want to see longer episodes on cool species like these! Thank you for spreading your knowledge!
Russian Tortoises all the wayyyy!
He is obviously very skilled
So cool
amazing enclosures
5:05 the tortoise has a 2 on it
I have a russian, here in the uk they are constantly being sold by people who have sadly gotten bored of them. I bought mine with his full table and lamp etc for 140 pounds.
An Egyptian tortoise in the uk is not only impossible to find but at least 800 pounds for the tortoise alone
❤wow! I wish I had seen this 5 years ago!
Hai le kleimanny ... So estinte sia in Libia che in Egitto ... Belle belle ... La Testudo più piccola del Mediterraneo ...
What is a great species for a beginner?
Girl.playz.roblox Xoxo Herman’s tortoise they’re easy to handle and don’t need that much heat and don’t get so big I have one
I love this content, bcs inspiring me and give me more knowledge about tortoise n anymore 👍🏻
hey, sorry for my bad english but i have a question. do they not eat the plants inside? my tortoise would eat everything inside there :D
This guy is amazing. Kudos to you Sir!
The tortoise at 1:52 has bubbles coming out of her nose a sing of upper respiratory infection
I notice you havev the UVa light. are there any UVB lights for these tortoises?
Could you do a “how to do it”for a tank for red footed tortoises?
Can I keep one in a 20 long tank?
I have never had a tortoise before, but am considering. Have had a few other things.....nothing that got too big.😉
Nature always finds its ways
I love turtle andmtortoise
I would love to come see all your animals!!!
What should I get to start off as a single pet
I'm so jealous of that setup Q.Q
👍🤠
Good examples. Wonderful habitats! Thanks!
I want a turtle but don’t know if I can stay committed to caring for it. They supposedly live up to 50+ years
I cant wait for a future update video of this guys facility!
This is so creative I feel inspired to create something similar for my tortoise. 🐢
I have an amazing Chris Leone Eastern Hermann's tortoise. He's going to be a year old in August.
Omgggg so cool
How hot was this room?
fr tho lol
Probably high 80s
The real question is how much is that electric bill?
DANGEROUS DYLAN yeah I would agree he looks like he is sweating hard
damn that's a sick indoor setup
The Russian not even mentioned? It is likely the most indoor kept tort there is...
Russsians are real aggressive in my opinion
@@davyjones2994 the turtles or?
theyre properly called horsefields tortoise. they're not social and their care is... not the simplist?
There not Really Russian now. during the Time of the Soviet Union Then yes it would be a "Russian"
@@thatsnotveryfresh I made this mistake. He got shell rot but I was able to sort it out. My snakes are sooooo much easier, but I got my tort taken care of and he's happy now.
Nicely done chaps.
Very nice set up! Beats seeing tanks or typical glass enclosures.
Oh! I love the tortoise
😭 this makes me soo happyy!!!
I want one!!!!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️😍😍😍🐢🐢🐢🐢
wow those last two where sooo awesome
How would you go about dremeling the large beaks of of your tortoises?
How do u protect the tortoises from the large snake problem down there???
They are so cute
