Kenan: If I wasn’t 62 y/o, I would get 10 of each!! I have the perfect property for them. But I won’t live long enough & I’d want them to all have good homes after I’m gone. So I’ll continue to admire them on your channel!🐢❤️🐢
I hear you. How I missed a life devoted to a tortoise of some sort, I'm not sure. I've had every other animal imaginable ---- but I'm old now. I worry about who will take care of Mr. Von Tigglesworth (Maine Coon) if something happens to me. No baby tortoises for me. :-(
Hi kenan I am watching this video for the first time today, and loving it. To see and learn about their care is very interesting. The Sulcata, and the other babies are so beautiful, and healthy. Not an impulse buy, after seeing how large they get. I have been enjoying, and watching your channel for a long time. Love all of your reptiles. Cindy
3:59 bought 2 sulcuta babies 5 years ago.I love them.Nala is 27 lbs and George is about 40 lbs they love to roam and escape. GEORGE has been tearing the Habitat apart, trying to out of it. We love them I also have 3 Russian, 3 red foot and a hermes. Also 3 REDEAR SLIDERS We live in a small town in PA I am now known as the Tortoises lady😊😊
My baby Sulcata tortoise died because I didn't know the proper care. RIP Franklin Im still traumatized from that experience.I plan on getting another one or two when im better educated.Thank you Kenan for this video.
I love the message here: THIS IS NOT AN IMPULSE PURCHASE PEOPLE! (stated just in case there are nimrods who don't get the message) LIKE A PARROT, this is a life long commitment!
Excellent educational video! You are so caring. Honestly, i wish i was younger so i could purchase one. Being 62 its too late for the life of the tortoise. I used to work for an educational zoo. We had a full adult male Sulcata. He was such a sweet guy.
If you have trustworthy family or friends you may be able to have them a good home when you are no longer able to provide their daily care. I have arraignments made for all my animals and as time changes so does the list of who is next in line.
I bought a sulcata 1.5 years ago without knowing that it would become a giant tortoise. The woman in the shop in Thailand, where I live, told me it was a Japanese tortoise. Google helped me clarify things at home. I'm 68 years old and hope for a long life - because of this little turtle. My ex hubby promised me that it would go into good hands if I died
My daughter (8) has already told us she wants to take care of our sulcata skoot when we cant anymore. They truly are in a sense immortal. We have had ours for about 13/15 yrs and shes still growing at 98lbs and still has many many years to hunt toes out in the yard. The pet market is flooded with sulcatas. So yes buy from breeders or better yet go to a rescue for one. Because to many people buy them not doing the proper research and find out they can take care of them or provide the space they need. If you live in an apartment/condo these are not for you sorry but not sorry . They need alot of space and alot of GRASS AND PLANTS.
You are such an amazing ambassador for reptile keepers with your wealth of knowledge. I just have 1 red-foot tortoise. She just turned 1 yr old and has been such a joy to have.
Kenan - Great video to help us care for our single 2 week old sulcata! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Going to give our little "Pinto" a soak now. Will subscribe to Kamp Kenan for more info!
Love the Cultural Videos you have been sharing with Sophia and Leo 😅 ! Now they will know the origin of so many of the lines you "quote" !!! And... also enjoyed the precious Red Foot, Cherry Head, and Sulcata Tortoises . And SO glad that you stress the Loooong term human commitment which may need two generations of of a family to raise them !
I had a desert tortoise for a while. He was gifted to us but he would not leave our sucalta alone and we were not about to start a new breed of tortoise so we had to give him to a wild life preserve and hes supper happy now and lives with his own herram and same species😊. We called him Don Vito. 😂
I have been debating on if i should get a tortoise and I will definitely be getting one now, hopefully from you! I never liked reptiles until my husband got a bearded dragon. Now i can't get enough. And my kids will love to have it passed down to them when Im gone. I love your videos.
Forgot how much I missed these guys of things from when I was about 10 so 8 years ago I'd watch your channel all the time thanks for bringing back memories
They are so adorable, I would love to have a few, but I live near Boston and I feel like I'm too damn old! It really is a very serious commitment to get an animal you know will not only outlive you, but the next generation too.
Cute little buggers! If I had the space, if my health was better and lastly if I lived close enough to you I'd have one of the red foots or cherry heads from you.
The “Rose of Sharon” is a northern hibiscus species. It’s a common, old-timey shrub and it’s leaves & flowers (usually shades of pink, purple or white) are a good spring/summer tortoise food. Other edible flowering plants are dandelion, clover (purple & white), marigold, nasturtium, all viola species, even rose petals and rose hips in autumn.
Hi, thank you for this video! We emailed you about getting a Sulcata! Also, I do have a couple of questions about caring for them in North Florida. My family is looking forward to purchasing one. 😊
The faces of those baby tortoises remind me of an old Billy Crystal joke about a dog humping his leg! "He was intense but his face looked like he was reading the Wall Street Journal!" Seriously, these tortoises (and turtles!) never crack anything that looks like a smile...! On second though, maybe Marge does but I think she only ever opens up her mouth to eat!
Hello, my russian tortoise has been showing signs of respirarion infection. Its hibernating for 6 months now and I noticed bubbless coming out of her nose and that she was trying to rub her ears. I dont know what to do since i didnt find a good video about it. So I would be really thankfull if you would do a video about it and how to prevent it. Thanks
How long should I soak my baby Marginated tortoises for? Is there such a thing as soaking for too long? Just trying to make sure I properly hydrate and prevent pyramiding
Hi Kenan, how all is well, i enjoy your videos. keep up the good work. for me i say LOVE, it does not feel like work. i have yollew-footed tortioes 1 female and she is laying for so. no male .i learn alot from her. this year i got 9 babies. the food tortoies treats where do you buy them? save the animals and be safe
We found a box turtle in our yard. The kids and I fed him. He stayed in the same spot for two days but now he’s gone and I must admit I’m kinda sad. I’ve looked all over.
#Kenan you should give a red foot or a Darth Maul baby turtle to matt. He seems like if loved the look of the red foots. I think its time to make Matt a reptile representative. Lol.
I’m looking to buy a baby tortoise, how can I buy one from you and what species should I want if I want for a first timer? Maybe one that doesn’t grow as big as the Sulcata?
Kenan: If I wasn’t 62 y/o, I would get 10 of each!! I have the perfect property for them. But I won’t live long enough & I’d want them to all have good homes after I’m gone. So I’ll continue to admire them on your channel!🐢❤️🐢

Same here. I'm 70 yrs old, and if I could, I'd get a cherryfoot or two.

Lori, if you stick to the smaller torts, they'll be easy to rehome after you've shed these mortal coils. Just stay away from the sulcata.
DO IT! @@carolley9705

Oh wow, I just left the same kind of comment. I’m also 62. I feel your disappointment 😢🐢

Thanks Sally. The commitment part is so important!
I am a testament as well guys Redfoot Torts are the best! My little man is the best from Kenan. Especially when you can grow your own food for them.
"They are so vibrant!"
"That´s totally true especially coming from a colorblind person"
:)
Babies are just so adorable, not to hate on the adults which are beautiful. I really want a red foot🖤🖤
Wow 😮83 sweet babies they’re so adorable 🥰 Happy fourth 🎆🎇🧨you guys and your families

Cute little buggers! If I had the space, if my health was better and lastly if I lived close enough to you I'd have one of the red foots or cherry heads from you.
And you look so much like Tom Hanks. I always thought so and when you started talking like Forrest Gump, It was so funny. Love your video's.

what kind of enclosure is this that u keep them in
Hi, thank you for this video! We emailed you about getting a Sulcata! Also, I do have a couple of questions about caring for them in North Florida. My family is looking forward to purchasing one. 😊
Hey Kenan! Random Question: What’s the Youngest you can start sexing/differentiating the sexes of baby Tortoises? (Specifically Redfoots)
How many baby tortoise has Matt got from you Kenan? 🐢🐢💚
That’s probably he’s wages
hey i’m keeping my baby sulcata inside what lighting and heat should i use?
Hahaha kenan Gump 😊
You should get a second camera with a macro lens so we can get detailed close-ups of the reptiles!
I miss my sulcata being tiny!
The faces of those baby tortoises remind me of an old Billy Crystal joke about a dog humping his leg!
"He was intense but his face looked like he was reading the Wall Street Journal!"
Seriously, these tortoises (and turtles!) never crack anything that looks like a smile...!
On second though, maybe Marge does but I think she only ever opens up her mouth to eat!
hahaha thanks for watching, glad u enjoyed!
I. Love. Turtles. I. Have. 4. Of. Them. They. Are. Playful. Pets

Great video... thanks for all the info..what's the beat food you can fees salcatas from babies to adult we can get from the market for daily feeding.
Hay! good clean hay of the right kind- some grasses have too much protein.
👍👍👍❤❤❤🐢🐢🐢
How long should I soak my baby Marginated tortoises for? Is there such a thing as soaking for too long? Just trying to make sure I properly hydrate and prevent pyramiding
💕👍
Can Sulcata Tortoises thrive on a hillside backyard?
I love their tiny stubby legs moving when you pick them up..
:)
Happy 4th Kenan and Matt!! Loved today's video!!
Same to you! Thank you!
💜💚😍💚💜
So when is going too start Matt camp at his house? 😂
Big hug from 🇵🇹
Keep strong Mr kenan
Hi Kenan, how all is well, i enjoy your videos. keep up the good work. for me i say LOVE, it does not feel like work. i have yollew-footed tortioes 1 female and she is laying for so. no male .i learn alot from her. this year i got 9 babies. the food tortoies treats where do you buy them? save the animals and be safe
Kenan’s Forrest Gump impression was hilarious 😂
Muito lindo os filhotes Kenan! Aqui no Brasil temos 2 espécies de jabuti. o Jabuti-PIRANGA e o Jabuti-TINGA.
We found a box turtle in our yard. The kids and I fed him. He stayed in the same spot for two days but now he’s gone and I must admit I’m kinda sad. I’ve looked all over.
What is the male/female ratio when breeding sulcatas like how many females have you produced compared too males
Can u feed peanut grass to the tortoise?
Somebody tell me I can keep a tortoise happy and healthy in Michigan lol. Ugh, I wish!
Mine are fine with us in Iowa lol
So... caring for a sulcata is soaking, feeding, and _storing_ the thing in a container? This video was basically 26mins of counting baby tortoises.
The 4th is coming up and I was curious on what you do to keep your animals from getting stressed from all the loud bangs? If anything
#Kenan you should give a red foot or a Darth Maul baby turtle to matt. He seems like if loved the look of the red foots. I think its time to make Matt a reptile representative. Lol.
I wish I could deal with a tortoise the size of a sulcata!
❤
I’m looking to buy a baby tortoise, how can I buy one from you and what species should I want if I want for a first timer? Maybe one that doesn’t grow as big as the Sulcata?
