The only thing bad is that it's exclusive to apple and I feel like it's just a cash grab but overall the game Is pretty solid

The choice to have the levels be smaller and more bite sized makes sense. It's designed as a mobile game, so people will tend to play them for a few minutes at a time, it isn't really supposed to be played all the way through in one or two sittings. That's not really a negative or a positive, just a side effect of the platflorm tbh

Sonic Dream Team wasn’t actually developed by Sonic Team, the developers are Sega Hardlight (Sonic Dash, Sonic Speed Battle).

@@SuperSireBoyYT Sonic 2 and 3 were made by STI in America but it was still the same development team as sonic 1, the name Sonic Team wasn't really used until nights was created. Also, Naoto Oshima, who designed Sonic, was a part of Sonic team and he was the director of Sonic CD , so it was still a Sonic Team game.
Pretty sure Scrambled Shores looks the way it does because it actually is Cream's dream specifically, it's meant to be bouncy house-themed
I think Amy’s voice acting in the cutscenes was pretty decent.
However I can’t say the same for Cream and Rouge.
I think since Cream and Rouge haven't really been used in the games (particularly not as playable characters), the VAs might not be sure how to play them. It took Cindy a few tries to really nail Amy's voice, but now she's great.
@@stratospherica Rouge and Cream are the same VA's as generations, so this boils down to being a problem with how the voice director chose to make them sound
Sega probably told them "Make Rouge less sexy and Cream more cutesy"
@@stratospherica Well, Cream may have been a symptom of the voice actor just getting older and not being able to pull off the voice perfectly anymore
@@GlytchGames sure, but that was 12 years ago for Cream (I don't think she's had a speaking role in a game since?) and Rouge's last one was 4 years ago. It's not as if they've had much opportunity to get used to the voice, or tweak it like Cindy Robinson did for Amy.

I’m just surprised they didn’t go with the voice actor from the M&S 2020 Olympic Games
She voiced Tikal in adventure and Cream from the first time she appeared up to Shadow (2005) and Heroes
While the voice acting may not be as good, Roger as Sonic, Mike as Eggman, and Colleen as Tails are always great. Knuckles is good too. I like Amy as well.

I just want to say I love the new intro animation for your videos Chaomix, and splitting everything into separate categories regarding Dream Team such as Gameplay, Stages, Animation, etc.
2023 definitely was the year of bringing back Sonic’s friends and long time no see for Cream since her last playable appearance in SA3, that’s Sonic Advance 3 lol and it’s also a poetic way to end off the 2023 Chinese New Year of it being the Year of the Rabbit 🐰
Honestly this feels like a beta test for updating the boost formula to the next level
Also the cutscenes and models are top notch

Personally, I adored this game. Like yes the game is short but I enjoyed this game so much. It’s just plain fun and I’m so excited for this game to get more and more updates. Also nice cut Chaomix you look great!

You should’ve mentioned it, (unless you do later in the video), but this game brings back how the light speed dash mechanic from Shadow the Hedgehog specifically. Where if you already preformed the move on a trail of rings, translucent ones take their place. Allowing you to light speed dash again.
Yeah, I kinda wish cream sounded more like she does in heroes, in dream team she sounded quite screechy.
I think Heroes has some neat and balanced voice acting. My opinion might be biased since it’s my first sonic game (although, most of the voices in Sonic Adventure are pretty fitting and spot on too), but I think Cream’s voice in Heroes was the most fitting, considering her personality is kind of shy.
I like the intro, it shows that you made some great improvement. (Keep up the great work and good editing) 👍

Amy I can agree with, but absolutely not Rouge. The second you hear Rouge in SA2 you cannot go back to the newer VAs.

Great review! I like that Sonic games appear to be going back in the direction of allowing us to play as other characters beside Sonic on their own. I've been wanting games where I can play as Knuckles for a few hours. Sadly I don't have an iphone to play Dream Team but this video was great for telling me everything I needed to know!
This dream thing concept is a clear reference to the beta eras of Sonic, where he needed to destroy the nightmares in the dream world.

I thought it was decent/good, but at the end of the day it still is just a mobile game.
They really need to fix the horizontal momentum on gliding and flying. Flying and gliding is fun in the Adventure games and even Sonic 06, but it feels like a chore in Dream Team.
I do think the level design is built more for spindashing than boosting as well.
That being said, it was so refreshing playing as Knuckles, Tails, and Rouge again.

Been playing it a bit and it’s pretty fun. I’ve been casting it to my tv and playing with a controller and that’s probably the best way to play it. Scrambled shores also has that one chill ass track that’s great. I think ariem’s name is a play on the term rem sleep
I like the ones where you have to find the shards. They’re so chill feeling imo
The game designs give me Lost World vibes, for some reason
I really love the animation in this game and hopefully this level of amazing animation in the mainline games
i like scrambled shores' aesthetic honestly, reminds me of those playlands i'd visit as a kid with the massive slides and jungle gyms
I really like the level designs. It feels like they're tip toeing back into adventure era like games. With spindash being added to frontiers and the level design being more like A1 with multiple versions of the same stage for different characters for dream team is really nice. If only they could go back to unleashed art design. It felt like a perfect blend between cartoony and realistic.

I’m not sure id say sonic dream teams is “adventure like” just because the boost button inherently changes how speed is achieved compared to the adventure games.
I think it’s closer to those games but it’s not good as Adventure 2, I haven’t played much of Adventure 1 cause I want to download with the Better DX + DreamCast convert mod which the Better DX also comes with.
Adventure 2 is a better game in my opinion but I find it unfair to compare it to a mobile game.
I miss spindashing in adventure 1 to get crazy momentum. its a shame that has never returned
This game is such a treat in a packed year for Sonic. I hope Hardlight develops new Sonic games right alongside Sonic Team; Dream Team is that impressive!

Sonic dream team in isolation is a simple but fun platform game, it’s art direction while very colourful seems a bit childish for my taste but it fits the theme the game was going for and the simplified controls take a while to get use to (not stomping after a homing attack chain feels so weird 😭) a bit overhyped by the fan base (like how is this comparable to frontiers ) but a solid side game on the go.
i guess the more childish look could be due to eggman filtering his dreams through cream

To fix knux glide turn, just turn the stick past 90 degrees. This gets it closer to how it should feel
So I noticed the Cream screeching thing too and it really threw me off, but after a while of listening I realized something- I think that noise is actually supposed to be CHEESE, not Cream. Which is... arguably even stranger.

I know that the 05 Sonic model is still used, but the dark blue color and the awesome cutscenes make it somewhat work. But they do need to make a new model from the ground up

Like Premydaremy said I hope whatever the next big Sonic game is could borrow some elements from Dream Team and perhaps get the Hardlight Team on board with development on a big budget Sonic Game, they have great potential seeing how well Sonic was animated in the game. Would love to see more from Hardlight.

I think Rouge is a generally enjoyable middle ground, she can be part of the team or not, she can act for her own interests but also out of legitimate affection or concern for other characters, I think she was like that since her first appearance in Adventure 2. I like that they are reincorporating her into Sonic media...It also helps that I think Knuckles and Rush are the best ship Sonic Team has going xD.
In the first clip you showed of Rouge’s voice, it sounded like normal Rouge. But when she said “Ariem cut him off from the Reverie!” she actually kinda sounded like Rouge’s original voice. Then later she sounds like Amy and then like a little old lady. lol
I also am always baffled by how I think and say things that I don’t often hear other fans think or say but YOU, Chaomix, are like 95% me. There’s very few things I feel and think differently about. It’s scary. I want to do Sonic videos someday and I’m running out of ideas because you keep making the ones I’m thinking. LOL
Now when I say it, all the fans will think I got it from you. But on the up side I can thank you and TailsTube for catching people up with things I talk about so it doesn’t sound like I’m just making it up.

Sonic Dream Team was not developed by Sonic Team, so It doesn't make sense to say it's the first Sega and Sonic Team game to be fully 3D since Sonic 2006

I love shorter games. They're fun and replayable. I can move on after beating them. And they're perfect for my short-attention spans. Hence, why I love Sonic 2(16-Bit).
i think scrambled showers does look pretty good actually,i just think the aesthetic of modern sonic should be an extension of classic sonic's so that level theme fits well with that,and i think it looks pretty good. and about it looking childish it's sonic the hedgehog,it isn't DMC5 so it can have more kidy fantastical looking environments,that never stopped classic sonic from doing it so why would it for modern?

this isn't a popular take but honestly if i were to judge it as an actual game and not a mobile game, dream team is really as middle of the road as you can get gameplay wise. most of it feels really samey and i feel like the level design while fairly branching has something of an overreliance on grind rails? it's a fun enough mobile game but really i don't understand the hype surrounding it whatsoever? idk, wasnt worth buying an apple tv for i'll tell you that much. 5 or 6/10.

So many things I've been waiting for them to bring back for years, just for me to not be able to play this game on my phone or console 🙃 It's fine I haven't been waiting 20 whole years for Cream to be playable again, or 17 years for Rouge to be playable again 🙃 maybe I'll get another chance when I'm in my 40s 🙃
Aside from dated models this game looks amazing and I would really like to play it. Can't say the same about the voices though 😂

I still don’t really think the models look all that bad. Would it be nice to maybe have some new designs? Sure, but I don’t think it should be anything drastically different. People love the Unleashed model for a reason, and I don’t think we should stray too far from it.
However, man do I have to agree with your take on this game’s soundtrack. I remember hearing the main theme when the first trailer came out and I got so excited because I thought we were getting another Runners styled soundtrack, which I would have absolutely LOVED (I still hope we get another soundtrack like that in an actual mainline title someday). But what we got, while not bad, kinda fell a little short. There are some songs I definitely really enjoyed, but as a whole it definitely could have been a lot better.
Overall, this is a fun little game that’s impressive as a mobile game, but kinda falls short as its own thing. If we take the best ideas from this game and the best ideas from Frontiers and implement them into a proper console release, I think we’ll be all set!

I dont think the boost gauge giving you instant speed it feels wierd i think it might be better if it was used as a gear switch between speeds after hiting max with the spindash being like reving up speed from a stand still. Tldr: make sonic control like an acurate sports car XD

13:25 yeah Im with ya on this mostley Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails sound fine like the guys sound pretty alright but with the girls Rouge sounds so weird its so off and Cream to (but I'll give her actress some slack since she hasnt done cream in 12 years) gonna have to disagree on Amy I think she sounded alright (plus compared to the other girls she sounds better)
I really wish they saved the Dream concept for a mainline Sonic title. It would be really cool to have Sonic race through everyones dreams/nightmares to save them Generations style, then they become playable and their abilities unlock more areas unreachable in other dreams. It would also flesh out the cast a bit, show what they like or fear in their respective dreams. And make sure Cream is still involved.
I think I'm through with Sonic having to save his friends, let them save themselves.

I understand it's weird for some that Rouge is being placed with Sonic and crew, but I love that Rouge is getting more spotlight, her being my favorite female character. Lately, it seems like Sega has been pushing Rouge more into Sonic's group with the tv show and the idw comics.

I'm glad seeing Sonic's brows move, but the exclusivity keeps me from being able to play this game. That and, while I do like Ian Flynn, his involvement feels rather vague.
I mean tbf I don’t think is fair to expect them to change the models for the characters in a mobile Apple Arcade game, And i don’t think the voice acting is that bad it’s a mobile game if they’re is a sonic game to have low expectations and not be to overly critical is this one but anyway enjoyed the vid keep up the great work.
i kind of want to say something about sonics model in dream team sure its the same but the blue isnt light blue its his blue color from games like sonic unleashed he does look more serious at times than when he tries to be serious in the pontac and graff sonic games his mouth type is different... idk it kind of tried to be like sonic unleashed but kept a little bit of sonic forces in it as well it isnt a unique sonic model though but it looked like they wanted to have a unique sonic model but probably changed their mind but thats just what my eyes see...
I have an iPhone running iOS 17 so that might have made a difference on performance because I didn’t really experience any noticeable glitches on my play-through.
To get around the small screen issue, I just mirrored my phone to my PC and played on a 27” 1080p display.
For a mobile game, this actually wasn’t half bad. It’s a shame it’s stuck on Apple Arcade which you need a subscription to in order to play it. If you’re already paying for it, it’s no biggie but I’m not. Luckily, I was able to get a couple months free through some deal on the App Store or something so I just ended the subscription when it was close to ending. I hope this game gets an official port sometime. It’s not perfect but it’s worth checking out.
Oh and at 16:15 Rouge straight up put that orb in her butt 😂😂
I feel like the sonic games & cast was blown out of proportion, especially with Knuckles’, Sonic’s and Rouge’s character development. Rouge was always on the “dark” side and always had an attitude. It’s weird to see her like this all of a sudden. I feel like things are starting to become too happy and bubbly (mainly to appeal to little kids, since the Sonic movies happened) but it’s honestly kinda weird, as an old fan. Sonic used to be a “too cool for you” typa guy, I dunno. Either way, the game is pretty cool without the context.
