The choice to have the levels be smaller and more bite sized makes sense. It's designed as a mobile game, so people will tend to play them for a few minutes at a time, it isn't really supposed to be played all the way through in one or two sittings. That's not really a negative or a positive, just a side effect of the platflorm tbh

Also, Naoto Oshima, who designed Sonic, was a part of Sonic team and he was the director of Sonic CD , so it was still a Sonic Team game.
I think since Cream and Rouge haven't really been used in the games (particularly not as playable characters), the VAs might not be sure how to play them. It took Cindy a few tries to really nail Amy's voice, but now she's great.

Where if you already preformed the move on a trail of rings, translucent ones take their place. Allowing you to light speed dash again.
I just want to say I love the new intro animation for your videos Chaomix, and splitting everything into separate categories regarding Dream Team such as Gameplay, Stages, Animation, etc. 2023 definitely was the year of bringing back Sonic’s friends and long time no see for Cream since her last playable appearance in SA3, that’s Sonic Advance 3 lol and it’s also a poetic way to end off the 2023 Chinese New Year of it being the Year of the Rabbit 🐰
Personally, I adored this game. Like yes the game is short but I enjoyed this game so much. It’s just plain fun and I’m so excited for this game to get more and more updates. Also nice cut Chaomix you look great!
While the voice acting may not be as good, Roger as Sonic, Mike as Eggman, and Colleen as Tails are always great. Knuckles is good too. I like Amy as well.

I've been wanting games where I can play as Knuckles for a few hours. Sadly I don't have an iphone to play Dream Team but this video was great for telling me everything I needed to know!
I think Heroes has some neat and balanced voice acting. My opinion might be biased since it’s my first sonic game (although, most of the voices in Sonic Adventure are pretty fitting and spot on too), but I think Cream’s voice in Heroes was the most fitting, considering her personality is kind of shy.
I thought it was decent/good, but at the end of the day it still is just a mobile game. They really need to fix the horizontal momentum on gliding and flying. Flying and gliding is fun in the Adventure games and even Sonic 06, but it feels like a chore in Dream Team. I do think the level design is built more for spindashing than boosting as well. That being said, it was so refreshing playing as Knuckles, Tails, and Rouge again.
I’m not sure id say sonic dream teams is “adventure like” just because the boost button inherently changes how speed is achieved compared to the adventure games.
I think it’s closer to those games but it’s not good as Adventure 2, I haven’t played much of Adventure 1 cause I want to download with the Better DX + DreamCast convert mod which the Better DX also comes with. Adventure 2 is a better game in my opinion but I find it unfair to compare it to a mobile game.

In the first clip you showed of Rouge’s voice, it sounded like normal Rouge. But when she said “Ariem cut him off from the Reverie!” she actually kinda sounded like Rouge’s original voice. Then later she sounds like Amy and then like a little old lady. lol I also am always baffled by how I think and say things that I don’t often hear other fans think or say but YOU, Chaomix, are like 95% me. There’s very few things I feel and think differently about. It’s scary. I want to do Sonic videos someday and I’m running out of ideas because you keep making the ones I’m thinking. LOL Now when I say it, all the fans will think I got it from you. But on the up side I can thank you and TailsTube for catching people up with things I talk about so it doesn’t sound like I’m just making it up.

This game is such a treat in a packed year for Sonic. I hope Hardlight develops new Sonic games right alongside Sonic Team; Dream Team is that impressive!
What's weird about Rouge's voice in this game is that in the first clip she does her usual Rouge voice which is also the VA's Aigis voice from the Persona series, but then in the second clip she sounds like she's imitating Tara Platt's Elizabeth voice also from Persona. Maybe I'm going crazy but I swear that's what it sounds like to me.
Sonic dream team in isolation is a simple but fun platform game, it’s art direction while very colourful seems a bit childish for my taste but it fits the theme the game was going for and the simplified controls take a while to get use to (not stomping after a homing attack chain feels so weird 😭) a bit overhyped by the fan base (like how is this comparable to frontiers ) but a solid side game on the go.
I really wish they saved the Dream concept for a mainline Sonic title. It would be really cool to have Sonic race through everyones dreams/nightmares to save them Generations style, then they become playable and their abilities unlock more areas unreachable in other dreams. It would also flesh out the cast a bit, show what they like or fear in their respective dreams. And make sure Cream is still involved.
Like Premydaremy said I hope whatever the next big Sonic game is could borrow some elements from Dream Team and perhaps get the Hardlight Team on board with development on a big budget Sonic Game, they have great potential seeing how well Sonic was animated in the game. Would love to see more from Hardlight.

Sonic Dream Team was not developed by Sonic Team, so It doesn't make sense to say it's the first Sega and Sonic Team game to be fully 3D since Sonic 2006

"Dream Team's soundtrack is pretty weak." It's not. Maybe it's a lot to take in so quickly, but listen to the score from purely a music/production standpoint and it's amazing. Also, Rouge was playable in Rivals 2.
I think Rouge is a generally enjoyable middle ground, she can be part of the team or not, she can act for her own interests but also out of legitimate affection or concern for other characters, I think she was like that since her first appearance in Adventure 2. I like that they are reincorporating her into Sonic media...It also helps that I think Knuckles and Rush are the best ship Sonic Team has going xD.

I liked the game well enough but I kinda regret picking up that used Apple TV just to play it. I spent more time setting the damn thing up than actually playing it, but that's my fault for not using any existing Apple products. I liked it less than Frontiers and Superstars, and it was definitely overhyped by the fandom but that isn't the game's fault. I'd play it again if it ever got ported, but otherwise I feel like it just kinda came and went. Also the very ending where Ariem's fine and everyone gets to talk to her again kinda irked me. I feel like a more memorable game would have let the characters live with the sacrifice, like Chip or Cosmo.

I still don’t really think the models look all that bad. Would it be nice to maybe have some new designs? Sure, but I don’t think it should be anything drastically different. People love the Unleashed model for a reason, and I don’t think we should stray too far from it. However, man do I have to agree with your take on this game’s soundtrack. I remember hearing the main theme when the first trailer came out and I got so excited because I thought we were getting another Runners styled soundtrack, which I would have absolutely LOVED (I still hope we get another soundtrack like that in an actual mainline title someday). But what we got, while not bad, kinda fell a little short. There are some songs I definitely really enjoyed, but as a whole it definitely could have been a lot better. Overall, this is a fun little game that’s impressive as a mobile game, but kinda falls short as its own thing. If we take the best ideas from this game and the best ideas from Frontiers and implement them into a proper console release, I think we’ll be all set!
I feel like the sonic games & cast was blown out of proportion, especially with Knuckles’, Sonic’s and Rouge’s character development. Rouge was always on the “dark” side and always had an attitude. It’s weird to see her like this all of a sudden. I feel like things are starting to become too happy and bubbly (mainly to appeal to little kids, since the Sonic movies happened) but it’s honestly kinda weird, as an old fan. Sonic used to be a “too cool for you” typa guy, I dunno. Either way, the game is pretty cool without the context.
So many things I've been waiting for them to bring back for years, just for me to not be able to play this game on my phone or console 🙃 It's fine I haven't been waiting 20 whole years for Cream to be playable again, or 17 years for Rouge to be playable again 🙃 maybe I'll get another chance when I'm in my 40s 🙃
I have an iPhone running iOS 17 so that might have made a difference on performance because I didn’t really experience any noticeable glitches on my play-through. To get around the small screen issue, I just mirrored my phone to my PC and played on a 27” 1080p display. For a mobile game, this actually wasn’t half bad. It’s a shame it’s stuck on Apple Arcade which you need a subscription to in order to play it. If you’re already paying for it, it’s no biggie but I’m not. Luckily, I was able to get a couple months free through some deal on the App Store or something so I just ended the subscription when it was close to ending. I hope this game gets an official port sometime. It’s not perfect but it’s worth checking out. Oh and at 16:15 Rouge straight up put that orb in her butt 😂😂
Gee, I sure wish I could play it on literally *anything* else. The only Apple device in my entire family's household is my brother's iPhone. I don't want to bother him over being able to play it.

Yeah, I kinda wish cream sounded more like she does in heroes, in dream team she sounded quite screechy.

"Dream Team's soundtrack is pretty weak." It's not. Maybe it's a lot to take in so quickly, but listen to the score from purely a music/production standpoint and it's amazing. Also, Rouge was playable in Rivals 2.
I think Rouge is a generally enjoyable middle ground, she can be part of the team or not, she can act for her own interests but also out of legitimate affection or concern for other characters, I think she was like that since her first appearance in Adventure 2. I like that they are reincorporating her into Sonic media...It also helps that I think Knuckles and Rush are the best ship Sonic Team has going xD.
Hopefully this means more true 3D Sonic games in the future.

this is the best sonic game ever made. period. i bought an imac ultra pro to play this game. its the best game ever from sega.
I liked the game well enough but I kinda regret picking up that used Apple TV just to play it. I spent more time setting the damn thing up than actually playing it, but that's my fault for not using any existing Apple products. I liked it less than Frontiers and Superstars, and it was definitely overhyped by the fandom but that isn't the game's fault. I'd play it again if it ever got ported, but otherwise I feel like it just kinda came and went.
Also the very ending where Ariem's fine and everyone gets to talk to her again kinda irked me. I feel like a more memorable game would have let the characters live with the sacrifice, like Chip or Cosmo.

13:25 yeah Im with ya on this mostley Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails sound fine like the guys sound pretty alright but with the girls Rouge sounds so weird its so off and Cream to (but I'll give her actress some slack since she hasnt done cream in 12 years) gonna have to disagree on Amy I think she sounded alright (plus compared to the other girls she sounds better)

i think scrambled showers does look pretty good actually,i just think the aesthetic of modern sonic should be an extension of classic sonic's so that level theme fits well with that,and i think it looks pretty good. and about it looking childish it's sonic the hedgehog,it isn't DMC5 so it can have more kidy fantastical looking environments,that never stopped classic sonic from doing it so why would it for modern?

I still don’t really think the models look all that bad. Would it be nice to maybe have some new designs? Sure, but I don’t think it should be anything drastically different. People love the Unleashed model for a reason, and I don’t think we should stray too far from it.
However, man do I have to agree with your take on this game’s soundtrack. I remember hearing the main theme when the first trailer came out and I got so excited because I thought we were getting another Runners styled soundtrack, which I would have absolutely LOVED (I still hope we get another soundtrack like that in an actual mainline title someday). But what we got, while not bad, kinda fell a little short. There are some songs I definitely really enjoyed, but as a whole it definitely could have been a lot better.
Overall, this is a fun little game that’s impressive as a mobile game, but kinda falls short as its own thing. If we take the best ideas from this game and the best ideas from Frontiers and implement them into a proper console release, I think we’ll be all set!

When I was playing I kept trying to stomp
I feel like the sonic games & cast was blown out of proportion, especially with Knuckles’, Sonic’s and Rouge’s character development. Rouge was always on the “dark” side and always had an attitude. It’s weird to see her like this all of a sudden. I feel like things are starting to become too happy and bubbly (mainly to appeal to little kids, since the Sonic movies happened) but it’s honestly kinda weird, as an old fan. Sonic used to be a “too cool for you” typa guy, I dunno. Either way, the game is pretty cool without the context.

So many things I've been waiting for them to bring back for years, just for me to not be able to play this game on my phone or console 🙃 It's fine I haven't been waiting 20 whole years for Cream to be playable again, or 17 years for Rouge to be playable again 🙃 maybe I'll get another chance when I'm in my 40s 🙃
I have an iPhone running iOS 17 so that might have made a difference on performance because I didn’t really experience any noticeable glitches on my play-through.
To get around the small screen issue, I just mirrored my phone to my PC and played on a 27” 1080p display.
For a mobile game, this actually wasn’t half bad. It’s a shame it’s stuck on Apple Arcade which you need a subscription to in order to play it. If you’re already paying for it, it’s no biggie but I’m not. Luckily, I was able to get a couple months free through some deal on the App Store or something so I just ended the subscription when it was close to ending. I hope this game gets an official port sometime. It’s not perfect but it’s worth checking out.
