After watching Deion Sanders highlights, I 100% agree. Everyone was playing football, but Deion WAS football. He was one with his body and one with the game. He had super human athletics and agility and combined with his intelligence and understanding of football. He was faster than everyone else, but he was smarter than them too.
David Bradshaw. Pats fan here . I agree with Steven A . I believe there’s a difference between the greatest legacy , and the greatest player ( talent wise ) . If we’re talking legacy which is usually what we refer to as the goat it’s of course tom . He’s top 5 talent wise too . Reading defenses , getting the ball out and timing and placement , clutch as Michael jordan and as accurate as anyone in the pocket with Time . Mahomes and rodgers accuracy on the run and extending plays i believe makes them more talented . But in terms of pure TALENT . Like overall rating like if this was a video game , nobody was better than Deion . Prime might be the greatest athlete in the history of Life lol I mean this man was different . He could lock down Jerry rice on defense , then return the following punt for 6 , get an interception, then go run a route as a receiver for a 75 yard touchdown and total 7 grabs for 128 yards and a td on offense. All on a Sunday then go hit a homer and steal a home run jumping the wall for the yanks on a Wednesday then go win a track race on a Friday lmfao I mean come on man .
thoyo finally someone agree with me who knows about sports Stephen A Smith I've been saying this for years Deion Sanders is the best NFL player of all time the only football players can consider to be better Jimmy Brown or Lawrence Taylor if this guy didn't play baseball his football career will have more stats on TOUCHDOWN and INTERCEPTIONS only player in sports history to have a touchdown and a home run in the same day 1989 Google it. You can’t play hypotheticals. You never know what would’ve happened. It’s always fun to flirt with ideas like that, but at the end of the day, what happened happened and what didn’t happen was Barry playing for Dallas. So there’s really no point of going there unless it’s just to tickle the imagination...
James Leach how, if Barry could run straight to the hole and Detroit line was horrible that’s why he had to gain his own yards, and he could have easily played behind Larry Allen.
Walter Payton does not get nearly enough credit for how dominant he was at running back, he is arguably the most well rounded back being able to make you miss, go through you, or even jump over you; he was always a fall forward back and was even a quality receiver. Think about this, In super bowl 20 the way the patriots shut down Payton was by having half of the defense focus on him which open up the entirety of the bears offense, there’s only a few players who honestly command that. Also another thing to be considered about his stats is some of those seasons he played were 14 game seasons so for some of those early season where he dominated he did better in less games than some backs done in their entire career in one season, not to mention he had the original flu game and ran all over the Vikings while sick.
@@zachstolpa6521 if you want to include the stats then, if barry played as much games as walter, he would have surpassed walter's numbers greatly . . Hanz C if it’s purely statistical I’d argue emmit smith is the greatest and it’s not even close but for a position like running back you have to look. At statistics and how they played and Walter was simply the more well rounded back.

Prime might be the greatest athlete in the history of
Life lol I mean this man was different .
I believe its a great argument. The greatest player should have been a superstar in ALL 3 phases of the game.

Deion Sanders made All-Pro at CB and Kick Returner and started at WR. That's defense, special teams and offense. He did it all at highest level. Schmuck Schmuck to be honest, I don’t think he is. But you can argue from a cultural standpoint of Jordan’s greatness too
Anthony Joseph no he’s not. If I got Lawrence Taylor which can get in anyone’s backfield whenever he wants he’s gonna ruin his gameplan. And people forget how fast he was for a linebacker. He had some wheels. LT was the most unstoppable football player of all time. He literally dominated the game.
I agree with S.A.S, but put Barry Sanders on the Dallas Cowboys in that era, he probably would have rushed for 2,000 yards every season.
You can’t play hypotheticals. You never know what would’ve happened. So there’s really no point of going there unless it’s just to tickle the imagination...
No he wouldn't, his style of running doesn't fit dallas run system.
Thurmond Thomas had squad. Never had a 2000 yard season

Zach Stolpa espn had an article about the best player at each position and named him the greatest running back of all time
imo Barry Sanders is. Most of his playing career, he had a mediocre or below mediocre offensive line and still produced insane numbers.
Hanz C so did Walter for most of his career it was not until 83 or 84 when the bears became consistent.
@@zachstolpa6521 if you want to include the stats then, if barry played as much games as walter, he would have surpassed walter's numbers greatly

Hanz C if it’s purely statistical I’d argue emmit smith is the greatest and it’s not even close but for a position like running back you have to look. At statistics and how they played and Walter was simply the more well rounded back.
