What a night in Boston. Celebrating the 1988 team that finally beat the Habs and then a game like that. Just awesome.

It was a goal fest in Boston yesterday. Boston is on my favorites list to make it to the Stanley Cup Finals this year. Edmonton, Vancouver, Florida and Winnipeg are also strong favorites for a Stanley Cup Finals appearance. Anything can happen in the NHL so lets see what happens.

Montreal defense is absolutely terrible
And they seem to believe D is their strong assets lol
Suzuki and Caulfield = $17M / year waste of money
They've allowed 37 shots per game on average in the last 10 games so it isn't just terrible defense, it's also poor puck management.
Low possession also generally means more penalties and this PK is hot doo-doo. Compounding issues.

@@bcltdinc.8919 Not at all. A weak forward group has been further weakened by injuries and we all knew the defensemen were suspect and green before the season began. Harris has the 3rd most NHL games on the dcore with 100gp... why are you trying to blame the coach and system?

Yeah, he's pretty good at hockey. He's already tied for 2nd all time in bruins history for consecutive 30 goal seasons. He's going to be one of the greatest bruins of all time when all is said and done.

That what you get when you only play 40 minutes. This is not some pretender team like the Leafs. This is the big bad Bruins. You must play 60 again a true contender team like that. Hope this serve as a lesson.

To be fair, it's moreso a consistency thing rather than "not playing 60 minutes." While the Habs didn't play 60 minutes against Boston, they took a W over the Avalanche in regulation, which is no small feat. The core has potential but relying so heavily on such a young core is bound to give subpar results. No discredit to Boston, they've been an outstanding team for the past 12+ years (that's as much as I can remember, I'm only 19 and have watched hockey for about that much time)

Cole Caufield has scored 5 goals in 5 straight games. Unfortunately it is over-shadowed with a rating of -3 vs Boston last night.
This game was a barn-burner for 2 periods. I wasn’t real happy with the Bs, they were sloppy. But the 3rd period is all that will be remembered, and rightly so.

Quite a beat down…Habs are physically like a junior team playing men on many nights…will have to get bigger and then play big to really compete in this NHL era.

you need more than just a good goalie to be successful. thats the habs problem, they're main strategy is to heavily rely on the goalie to bail them out every single night. The real problem is they've never been able to build a real team; even their 93 cup win was almost entirely because of Patrick Roy

Didn’t watch the game but the notifications kept on coming during the 2nd and I genuinely thought “what a dog fight I’m missing” then the 3rd came around and the dog fight turned into a slaughter. It’s a good thing we have like 8 defensemen on the up and coming because at least 5 of our 6 in the lineup are just pylons at this point. Oh well, I’ll take the 4/8 points when it should’ve been 0/8.

They lost the lead in the end of the first period by slacking off in the last minute in the half.They have done this A Lot. The hit Montembeault took in the face mask spooked him for sure ,a very hard hit, and I think he should have been pulled after some easy goals happened .No more easy goals after the goalie change. Montenbeault should be checked for a concussion

Montreal had the first and fifth overall picks in back to back drafts and didn't come out of it with a first line centerman or an elite player. The core is weak, they lack firepower offensively and are pretty average at best defensively. They either need the hockey Gods to reward them in the lottery or some tough decisions will have to be made to take 2-3 steps back to refocus the rebuild. Ideally the Habs go on a prolonged losing spell to solidify their draft standing
