Hi guys, OK as I was rewatching this one from your past visits, it made me think: "you know what would be cool, if History Hikers re-edited all the Cathar castles they've visited in Occitanie, into a single 'Top 10 Cathar castles' video (or some title like that)." The ranking could be based on your previous scores you gave all the Cathar castles you've visited. You could pick out the best parts of all those videos, maybe make an overall 20-minute video out of this. Not sure if you have visited 10 of these, or something around 10? The map at the beginning could show ALL of the upcoming castles on a single map to give a full context, then flash up the map for each new castle as it comes on screen. OK this is just a crazy thought, but I figured I should pass it along to you! Cheers
It is a great idea, but we feel like we can't do a roundup yet as we haven't seen all "Cathar" castles yet 😅. Maybe we could do a five sons of Carcassonne one in the meantime.
Concerning Montségur remark the following literature in French: - Czeski, André: Montségur. Great question! Water was essential during sieges. In the sources we consulted we did read that the castle had a good reservoir of cisterns to store water. Where these are located we cannot say for certain.
Check out this cool 3D reconstruction from laurent chanal: ua-cam.com/video/PiVgguy_R7o/v-deo.html

Thanks, good to know. Looks like André Czeski and Fernand Niel are two experts 👍
@@TheHistoryHikers You are right.
Thanks for that!
Was there a waterwell? How could they hold on all those months without water?

Castel of Quéribus fell 9 years later.....
We may have clickbaited...
The feild of the cremated?
At the foot of the castle many cathars died on a massive pyre.
