This is how I clean my trucks but I put them in front a fan after blowing them off. This finishes drying them completely very quickly and prevents things like screw heads from rusting. Been doing it this way for over 10 years and it works great

Everyone has their own way, but I do use water even if I've run them in snow, then I blow them off with compressed air, and set them under a fan blowing on them for a few hours. For me I don't bother with taping the holes, I'm just spraying them off, so water is not going to get in there as if you submerged them. I use very warm water to melt the snow off in my laundry room sink, then use the compressed air. then the fan. The fan really gets any residual water off the electronics.
yep, good video, I do the same thing with pretty much all my RC's, I just make sure when I spray them with water, I don't drive them for a long period of time so everything is good and dry (electronics). Thanks for sharing!

If I had only One, then yeah I might be willing to spend more time cleaning them, but that's just not the case. I like to spend my time doing other Hobbies that I really enjoy. Thanks So Much for sharing this. Much Respect my friend and God Bless.
I guess some people may worry more than I do over this stuff, but the information you gave out on this was honestly more common sense to me. Again, some people may still want this information I would guess, but people who have been in the hobby for a little bit know what their RC is and isn't able to handle like water vs water pressure for example. For the other people that are learning I am sure this is all very good information though and for the bits and pieces that I watched it seems well done so there is that much going for you on this one.
In the summer I use an air compressor to get rid of all the dirt, at about 80 or 90 psi, and then I give everything a quick spray with simple green. And then I dry everything off with the air compressor again. It seems to work for me so far.
Use a data vac blower like for PC’s. Comes with different size attachments and is a lot less than buying a compressor if you don’t have one. But blows really strong. Works great. Just plug it in when you want or store it up in a closet out of the way if you have not enough space.
I bought my Xmaxx 8S used. It needed a full tear down when I got it, it was pretty dirty. Shocks rebuilt, and installed new bearings throughout the truck. I performed a very detailed cleaning on it disassembling everything. But now, I just avoid water and keep a tooth brush handy after I drive it.
I use degreaser myself, but my thought process is I'd rather have to regrease/reoil it rather than have grit in the bearings and moving components. That's just me though. There isn't many soaps out there that don't have degreaser solvents, even mild, but do exist. WD-40 before helps if you spray the moving components before spraying them with water.
Wd40 melts rubber. At the minimum its a surface melt, but if left for longer it will eat into them more. That is probably very bad for glue edge of the tires and may be a reasonable why so many people tear tires into bits.
For anyone fact checking him, air compressors are a very handy dandy tool. I'm 12 and I still use my dad's compressor all the time. My older brother has a new (just released today) mini Traxxas crawler, and I clean every, square, centimeter with it. I recommend 👍. nice video btw.
I have effectively the exact same routine as your wet one. If I’m out on a wet day and it’s full of mud and grass then I go for that. After drying I go through all balls, sockets, rods with PTFE lubricant which is fantastic and non-stick. Would be great if you can show people where you apply lubricant after a wet bashing session.
@@outsourcedrc I agree with lube trapping everything. I went through a few types but now unless something is definitely not exposed to the elements I would always use dry lube. By design it is not sticky, just creates a dry Teflon layer which strips easily relative to lube or grease so I apply it after every wet run usually or a few dry runs. Give it a shot, WD40 Dry PTFE or whatever they call it in the US. It is not the standard WD40 degreaser if you are wondering but proper dry lube.
The tire air hole allows the tire to absorb shock when hitting things and landing. Without that hole the air inside has nowhere to escape from and may put strain on the tire glue, etc. Good to keep in mind 👍
For an easier and more permanent way to seal the rims, use a waterproof silicon! But make sure you drill holes in the tires themselves like some of the arrma tires that come that way from the factory :)
Nice ! I do the same and avoid the chassis electronics but spray the arms and wheels with a foaming chemical then rinse then more compressor . Compressor is the key in cleaning these imho . Especially getting the water out of the bearings and wherever it goes , up inside shock mounts and steering assembly , etc . Anywhtng works really but man , some folks just hose it off like a car , all inside the chassis and everythjng 😂. I can’t see that working for long , just my opinion though
I glued the original wheel holes and made holes in tires to allow centrifugal force to take care of the water inside. This approach works fine for me for a year already. Do you think it has any disadvantages?
Isopropil alcohol would be a good alternative to clean the rc? I know that will wash away the grease but after re greasing it would be very clean right?
I use warm water from the tap and sit the cars next to a warm radiator to dry or on top of it, then once dry I spray all the suspension with something called GT85 made by wd40 which is a ptfe lubricant that disperses water and prevents rust.
I use the chemical guys waterless wash in a spray bottle and a detailing brush, then hit it with my handheld air blower. The air blower has more power than air dusters, and more nozzles too
We’re the holes covered up before the run that made it this dirty? I’m never sure if I should be worried about dirt and debris getting in them or if I should only tape the holes when it’s gonna get wet
It's best to drill holes into the tires themselves, one on opposite sides of the tire, and silicon that hold in the "rim" to permanently keep debris out of the tire/foam
I think you're spraying water in to the bearings with pressured water like that. Then when you blow pressured air on the water, you can also blast the water in to the bearings. I'd use the air pressure only if it's dry. If you need to use water then just pour it from a tap without that much pressure. Then you can use WD40 to push the water out of places it shouldn't be.
So essentially you’re cleaning it with water and using air to dry it, interesting!!! I have always wondered if there was a way to get them clean, or even just get the dirt removed from the vehicle. I’m actually on my tenth car, when they get too dirty I just throw them in the bin. I might try this cleaning thing now though, I threw away my most recent car last week because I went through a puddle and was absolutely covered, and I mean covered in water. So I threw it away and a new one arrived today, I always get a typhoon 6s 👊 it’s been a bit rainy, so this one will only last a few days at most 🚗 I’ll try putting water on it like you did

Or, do you find that drying in front of the vent is enough to prevent rust? What product, if any, do you use on bearings around the wheels after a wash down like this? Thanks!
