Sorry Big T, love your stuff, but I don't agree with you on this one. The analog is more engaging, more of a real world experience. Not having to look at a screen is like throwing your smart phone in the trunk and just escaping from the troubles of the day. Having a bunch of screens in your vehicle is tantamount to having your face buried in your smart phone while driving, only it isn't in your hands. Imagine a your child buried in their phone who won't look up during a conversation with you, vs one who sets the phone aside to pay attention to your conversation while retaining eye contact the entire time. Same difference.
Na, my 2 turbos are lonely in my 3 car garage. I deserve it more... and my poor lonely 79' 930 and 03' 996TT. I'll wrap it to match my 957 Transsyberian
I’ve owned a brand new 991.1 GT3, 991.2 GT3 manual, 991.2 GT3 RS, and now a 992 GT3 manual. I don’t disagree about the interior, especially since the 991 had a lower, more mid engined car, dashboard height that gave a much better view of the road. The 992 feels like a sedan in comparison, so I agree with him on that as well as the over complication of displays/screens (for a 911). The part I am fully disagreeing with is the way the car drives and the build quality. The 992’s double wishbone front suspension gives the car heroic levels of turn in and front end grip, yes the wheel is more darty but it transmits so much more feel. The structural rigidity and build quality of the body is noticeably better. The 991.2 feels ok in this regard but the 992 feels like a whole lot more expensive car in it’s solidity, the way the doors close, the tighter panel gaps etc. And the final advantage of the 992 is the engines ITB’s (individual throttle bodies) that give the car so much crisper throttle response at every single part of the powerband. So like any car when it is redesigned, there are some advantages with the prior generation but in my opinion the 992 is absolutely the better car ….especially in terms of performance/rawness which is the reason you buy a Porsche GT car in the first place
Yeah I spent some time in the 992 GT3 and GT3 RS recently at PEC Atlanta, and have test driven a GT3 Touring; a major takeaway I had is the GT3 truly should be a Touring model for road driving. You simply cannot get enough out of the 992 GT3 (and naturally RS) when you’re on the road, yet the GT3 T essentially sets its own expectation of being a “touring” car, not a race car. Take the 992 GT3 out on the track and I’m not sure anyone will be complaining when they’re seconds ahead of the 991, and even further than a 997. Given the complains surrounding road driving, I don’t expect he does or plans to take it around the track. His complaints seem to boil down to, “well it’s too good”. But this is something that’s been said every generation of Porsche - every generation is larger, more refined, more digital…. but faster, quicker, more stable, and built better. Porsche doesn’t have a track record of making worse cars. But, if you want more “visceral” as every enthusiast cries out for, buy the generation that fits your expectations of feel.
@@ClubBlau I understand your sentiment, but if you believe the GT3 should feel like the cup car… I don’t believe you’ve driven a GT3 Cup Car. Also, consider Porsche is a business that sells to its average 911 buyer: a 52 years old man. Their average consumer would be absolutely broken by a Cup Car driven on the streets.
@@iOSAT I did buy the one I want. :) personally I still enjoy the 991 touring more on track than I did my 991 RS or the 992 Gt3. That's me. To each their own of course. Just my opinion.
@@iOSAT sure but I think the average 52-year-old probably doesn’t want a manual only super stiff Porsche. They probably want the comfortable one. So they should keep the pure one pure for the pure driving buyers. Instead, there is this trend where they make every car more water down and mainstream. Keep the GT cars more like race cars. That’s the point. Or at least it used to be.
I think what he’s explaining is exactly what’s wrong with the auto industry today. New cars are just killing the experience because of chasing numbers. 0-60 times, the last 10/10ths of capability, big horsepower, Nurburgring times, transmission shift speed, etc. I almost hate all these cars. Sure, They’re fast if I get the road space to see what they can do, but I get far less enjoyment when compared to the older analog raw and slower generations. BRING BACK LIGHTWEIGHT ENTHUSIAST CARS
That's what I love about my 2019 Miata RF. Even though the car only has 180HP it's more than enough when the car weighs just over 2300lbs. For a 4 cylinder it revs so smoothly and makes power all the way to redline. The car feels like it wants to be reved out and the best part is that I can actually do that on public roads without losing my license. My Miata is far from the most capable car on the road but the levels are low enough where I can actually play with and explore the car in a fun way without needing to get up to triple digit speeds. My car has an electric steering rack which is a bit numb but every other touch point and input gives you information on what the car is doing. Out right performance is awesome but I'll take a slower and more playful car over out right performance every time.
@@bitmen1296agree Great car but elec rack does suck. 180 Hp is awesome and I tell you I know it is much more fun. I had a car dealer drive my 993 and he has 1000’s of cars and said it was the best driving car he had ever been in.
Cars that talk to you through feel in the seat, vibrations, noise, steering. Overall its about the cars character and quirks, weird handling in certain situations and the true feedback to the driver that makes you fall in love with a car. Oh and a short shift stick with a clutch that only likes to shift above 5k ;)
I also had a 991 before I got my 992 GT3 and I don´t see it that way at all! Put it in Sport Mode and Start/Stop will be off immediately and switch your Dash to Track Mode and you will have all the information you need
I believe most car people understand what he means. Sometimes adding too much decreases the feel and “rawness” of the car. Ik some people say the same between the f80 and g80. Even though the g80 has a higher ceiling
Picked up a 2001 S2000 from an old couple. Gave it a full service, wheels, and tires. Thing is an absolute blast. 9k redline, feels like the car is going to explode the harder you push, but the reliability is rock solid. They don't make cars like that anymore.
I agree with everything he stated. One thing I noticed after experiencing the 992 compared to 991.2 was the sound. The 991.2 had this insane induction noise on the inside when you climbed through the rev range that made you almost cringe as you got to 9k. 992, while it sounded nice, was missing that rawness. Also, the 992's auto start stop is insanely annoying every time you get back in the car, you would need to dig through the menus just to turn the damn thing off. Both cars are phenomenal but I prefer the experience of the 991.2.
I thought I was the only one who noticed the lack of interior resonance in the 992. 991.2 just builds and builds all the way until redline in a way that the new one doesn't.
@@SparklingWalrus ok gigachad. Understand that just because someone doesn't like seeing wifi connected, always online appliances doesn't make them stupid
@@EmoDKTsuchiya all I ever hear is people complaining about “too much tech” or “too little tech” in regards to the 992…will you people make up your minds? People will complain about the 992 no matter what
I agree with the screen issue. I hate the trend of digital gauge clusters. My eyes focus on real gauges easier than having to focus on a screen. So sick of looking at screens all day.
Interesting opinion, I set up my gt3 in a sport mode so all you have is 2 screens next to your rev and turn pcm off. 992 is louder inside, suspension is phenomenal, all you need is good alignment and wing adjustments
4:00 My biggest feat right there when going into a new car. I absolutely ADORE my GR Corolla. I may miss the analog gauges but the simple digital cluster works well enough, and it doesn't ding nearly as much to be annoying. The only time it dings is occasionally if it doesn't feel a brake input and it sees a wall coming a little too fast. It's sensitivity can be adjusted but it rarely happens (1-2 times a month). I saw my friend's car with the new HRV and it beeps if it thinks there's a car on your right or left lane. The GR simply flashes and it can also be turned off. I've driven top trim Lexus's that have a facial scanner that beep every second you're not looking at the road. So I'm still glad that despite my GR Corolla being made in 2023, it still feels almost as raw but comfortably so, as my old mr2 aw11 from 1989.
This issue is prevalent even in the non super cover realm. This is what turned me away from the 2024 mustang GT or dark horse was that the interior looked awkward with the screen going all the way across the dash and I just knew that someday there would be some software issue that would be a huge pain in the butt. I went with a 2018 focus RS with the real gauges and two small screens and I love it.
The S650 Mustang is a disappointment. The S550's dashboard was perfect, just the right amount of retro and performance. The S650 has the dashboard screenblade out of a Kia EV6. It's unimaginative and derivative.
solid choice. My brother has an RS as well. Analogue gauges and that heavier steering feel compared to the Mustang are only two reasons, but enough to make me pick a Focus over a Mustang.
i like the 992 gt3 a lot... it feels really good to drive and the screens are not that distracting, but instead are useful. the double wishbone suspension is a great addition and it works for a track and on the street
For me the worst thing (other than the 992 size) is the large non OLED screens at night. meaning if you want to turn the screens all the way dim, it doesn’t quite work. They don't go true black / off. You get that gray white white glow all around the screens. I like driving with dim screens at night. or preferably I like to keep my Porsche and my Tesla separate! Really impossible with a 992. Porsche, we don't want the GT3 to turn into Tesla tech. Please go back to basics next generation.
You want raw? An event every time you get in it. Then you my friend require a 996.1 GT3. Loved mine and when I went to the 996 GT3RS it was love to the power of 10. Never experienced a more driver focused 'event' in anything before or since. I daily both my GT3 and RS, commuting into London and back and enjoyed every single mile. Best steering of any car ever. Mind you I would still like a new RS!
Don’t have a 997RS but have driven friends later model RS’s (sic) the 996 just feels like the right size. Sure, it’s not as fast but the steering is the best of any car I have ever driven, and it just feel… right.

When we sit on the back porsh, we can watch the deer! 😂 I'm with you, though. I inexplicably lose just a little bit of respect for someone who fails the correct pronunciation as put forth by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche ("Por-shuh") himself.
As a long-time 911 owner and Porsche-file, I am sick and tired of hearing these dweebs whine about “the tech, the screens”. Just shuddup and drive or sell it to someone who will appreciate it. It’s a Porsche. It’s a brilliant car. It ain’t 1970. Things change.
Iv'e been saying for years now, nothing is as it was and i mean that all around, even the tech these companies put in cars is sloppy, inadequate, and glitchy. Just the fact it even happens with porches on this level is disheartening. Makes ya wonder what enthusiast cars are really left. If any.
I agree. I have a manual 991.2 GT3 and bought my wife a 992 GTS manual. The interior of the 992 is a big step down in my opinion. The softness and more disconnected feeling is right. I think in the case of the GTS trim it works bc this is meant to be a less raw car, but the 992 GT3 is not appealing to me for all of these reasons he mentioned. The GT3RS I think might be, but honestly this is now such an aero dominated car that I'm not sure it has appeal to me as a road car.
As an owner of a 991.1 GT3 with a JRZ suspension / Dundon full exhaust with mini crack pipe. I feel the same way you feel except about the 991. 997 is the best gen. 992 is the best on paper with the motor featuring ITBs and improved suspension. I will place my order for a 992 GT soon.
As a current 991.2 GT3 6MT owner, I wholeheartedly agree with this video. Some more less-discussed points: the 992 specifies C40 spec engine oil over the A40 spec. C40 spec oil is harder to find and much more expensive. Doing an oil change on the 992 GT3 means a lot less oil comes out on the drain. I typically get about 7.5 litres of oil out of my 991.2 GT3.
100% Spot-On! These electronic Nannie’s make me hate all new cars. Garbage to save me from myself that I didn’t ask for need or want. All manufacturers should make them an option. A safety package. Let the buyer decide.
Like these honest reviews and I agree that most cars nowadays are becoming unncessarily complicated. Think we reached peak performance at around 2015 or so...beyond that things just seem excessive.
I owned a 991.2 GT3, an outstanding car. I also have a 992 GT3 Touring edition. The 992 is objectively the better car in every aspect. You can switch off the notifications. The handling in the 992 is spectacular. The build quality and fit and finish is so much better. The one annoyance - position of the cup holder. Other than that it is a spectacular car. Nothing out there that would make me change.
A good video. People may disagree but reasons were provided. My wife’s new AMG dings every time you open the door to get in. I still can’t figure out why. Is it saying, “Hi”?
I have a 997.2 RS and I giggle every time I fire it up. The clutch is heavy, the shifting is tight, the flywheel makes all sorts of mechanical noises, the steering feel is vivid and the Mezger scream above 6k is intoxicating. I half-heartedly consider selling it to get a newer and faster Porsche GT car, from time to time, but this review knocked that thought out of my head. Thank you.
Well said, the 992 GT3 interior is a horror story - it could have come out of any german rep mobile. I have owned 20+ Porsche cars and couldn't come at the 992 in fact, also ditched a 992 GT3 RS allocation for a 296 GTB.
The whole point of gauges is to provide information at a glance. If I have to interact with gauge it has already failed it's mission. This is a psychology failure of the designer. The phallacy is that you can just implement a different method and it will succeed because it is newer. But it will not succeed unless you match all the features of the old implementation. You need to *think* about what the purpose of a gauge is and how it is used, then design your product to do what it should as quickly and easily as possible.
Screens are for toddlers. They said Rolex will be out of business in 5 years when the casio digital watch came out. 5 years later anyone wearing a casio digital watch is seen as neanderthal tech and a Rolex is seen as class and craftsmanship. You ever used a screen on a 5 year old car, it's like using a kids ipad, terrible
@@WHDRWN Rolex? Class? Maybe in the world of nouveau riche. I'll respect a guy rockin' a G-Shock a hell of a lot more than some dude flashing a Rolex. Pointless jewelry.
"rockin a g shock" ok clown. Regarldess of your opinion the fact remains that every single car screen is dated, clunky and slow after 2 - 3 years. I never seen an air con switch lag or fail to load.
Sounds like you need a 992 GT3 Cup car. Though you might complain that has too much technology too. Doesn't have anything but a screen so it's probably not raw enough for you either.
I totally agree with him. I test drove a 992 manual GT3 while on the hunt for a 1.2, and from the styling to the size to the noise, it feels relatively inert. The 997.2/1.2 GT3 is the sweet spot, even above the 1.2 RS. It gives you 90% of the RS experience with a drop of refinement, and gives you still some of the unfiltered mechanical noises of a 997. I hope he got his hands on the right one!
I have a 991.2 and I love it. I figured the 992 was too much. First the suspension configuration from the wheel is messed up unless you’re a suspension expert. You can get it all fouled up
I get it completely. I waited until I found my halo car. 991 50th Anniversary. Naturally aspirated, manual transmission, no tech (backup camera, parking assist, etc.) with pepita (houndstooth) seats. It has all the sensory experiences I enjoy in a street car. I don’t care about horsepower, zero to sixty, etc in a non tracked 911. It’s doubtful that the care will ever leave me.
I once traded my 2007 Solara for a fully loaded 2015 Accord thinking I was upgrading but ended up getting the Honda dealership to let me out of the trade and give me back the Toyota. The Accord was amazing on paper but I hated the technology, and the simple old analog Toyota is so perfect I'm keeping it the rest of my life. Jeremy Clarkson once said 07 marked the end of the good old days of analog cars and I agree.
I’m just glad Porsche is still making cars that are so driver-oriented. Yes, they’re not as ‘raw’ as earlier iterations. But compared to other brands, their cars still (relatively) prioritize the driving experience. And I suspect they could be more profitable by doing it differently, such as how BMW has, chasing more technology, excessive horsepower, and 0-60 times for marketing purposes. But eventually even Porsche will need to capitulate, which we are already seeing with the electrification of the Cayman. Let’s enjoy what’s left while we can.
New 911 is basically all Tech, to compensate for being Rear-Engine. Cayman is a far superior platform from the start, the base model Mid-engine is amazing, the GT4 is astonishing!
This is the video I've been waiting for. I do really like the 992 GT3, and I did a double take when I saw one the other day. Really a cool car that I'd like to have one day. But that 991.2...it is even more special to me. The looks, the hybrid between analogue and technology, and the sound in-cabin is unbeatable to me. In short, I don't dislike the 992, but the 991 is prettier to me and is still an excellent track car if that's what you want. However, if you want the most raw experience in a Porsche GT car, you have to go back to the days of the 996/7 generations with the Mezger engine and mechanical power steering. Pretty much everyone who's driven them agrees that their steering was better than even the 992's EPAS based on feel.
Can level with him a little bit on this. I personally daily a 2013 Toyota Tundra with the wonderfully powerful and torquey 5.7 V8 and the crewmax cab which is awesome. It is a lower spec, manual seats, no touch screen. I love the simplicity of it and the power. Gets shitty mpg but you expect that. I drove a brand new 2023 that was pretty optioned up early last year for a couple weeks. Big 14" screen, all the sensors, auto start stop, etc. I went back to my old truck and just felt at home. Not bothered by unnecessary stuff. Not an apples to apples here but I totally get what he is saying.
The issue is that quite a few hardcore car enthusiasts agree with you, but that's not the general audience I think. How many people in this comment section would love an LSX 454 shitbox with no accessories. Ac, heating, abs, heated seats, and radio be damned. How many non-car enthusiasts would say the same?
Your analogy of LSX is too extreme. A lot people just want the basic creature comforts, we don’t want to bombarded with technology inside the cabin. We don’t want a huge ass tablet inside the cabin like a Tesla. The younger generation might want that, but the guys my age 40-50 years old buying these types of cars don’t want that nonsense. I’d imagine that’s the demographic purchasing these cars not a 20’s year old kid.
LOVE my manual 1999 996 and 2007 997 C2 Carreras, not just for the amazing underated analogue driving experience for both, but the 2 for less than the price of either one 991 or a 992 doesn't suck too bad either...
Thank you for the in -depth critique. I've driven the 991 but. Haven't gotten the chance to try the 992. To me, the 991 was just about perfect. I'd rather have gauges than menu-laden screens as well.
I know people are giving him grief in the comments, but most of us know what he means. - All the extra unnecessary tech and screens instead of gauges can be a downgrade in your sportscar. I feel disgusted when I see the interior and wall of screens in the new Mustangs and M2.
Thanks for making this video- I own a nice 991.2 manual like you. No dealer ever offered me a new gt3 992 (hard to get on the list) so went with the 991.2. Reading and watching reviews on the 992 made me feel somewhat pissed that I had to pay essentially the same for the old car used as I could have for a new one had I been given an allocation Having driven older Porsche 911’s along with a Subi STI I agree with you re analog dashboards and rawness. And I’ve never even driven the 992- so cannot pass judgment as to whether the new dashboard would be a deal breaker as it was for you. As it stands to go to a 992 at current aftermarket prices from my 991.2 would still be $50k- Hard to say if that front suspension upgrade is worth the $50k, even if I tolerate the digital dash
I hated mine at first after 5000 kms stopped comparing it to my991.2 after 10000kms I love it So drive it a lot get used to it and you I’ll love it. It’s such a different car when you go from 991- 2 to 992 Drive them don’t look at them
Agree with keeping the simplicity of previous GT3s. I also prefer the fixed spoilers (e.g., on 2015 911 GT3). The current wings look cheap to me. It makes the car look like it belongs on the set of Fast-and-the-Furious.
I think most of the modern stuff feels that way. I like the 993 so much more. I think the perfect 993 it the Turbo and it does not have to be the TurboS. This buying cars to look at gets me sick. Just sold my 993 and it was clean and I fixed all the stuff that needed to be fixed for a 50k mile car. Guy says it has had too many owners to be a collectors. One it is a C2 Carrera and cabriolet. It is not a collectors car to begin with, but a nice car that will hold its value and you can drive knowing you will not be stranded. Yeah, find something $10k cheaper, but fan bearing goes out, plastic valve cover leaks, A/C compressor goes out or need a new top. You get what you pay for. Concerning this video all these new Porsches feel like Camrys to me but fast. No personality at all except look at me. I am a analog guy. Rather roll a window up then press a switch that goes out for me.
It was afriend arranging the deal. It came in to the dealership. That's the deal, either I drive before I purchase or I don't purchase. Not like he's some random guy they don't know.@@kabob21
This is why air-cooled Porsches have gone up in value so much! Too many gadgets, no knobs to turn, and heaven help you if a screen goes out. I want an analog car. Crank windows. Nothing auto, even A/C.
I drove a 992 GT3 touring, and I found the turn in far form funny or dialed in, the steering vague, the interior a bit strange, and no power in the engine. Only the brakes were amazing. 991 GT2 RS seems to be the sweet spot. If you want a nice GT3, then, buy the 997 4.0 GT3 RS
I have a 991.2 manual with about 6k miles of seat time and I test drove my friends 992 manual for about an hour. Lots of Porsche DNA crossover. It felt very good and nimble like my 991.2. However, I must agree on the guages and technology issues. The steering wheel on the 992 covers up some of the gauges which is annoying. I was not a fan of the digital gauges either. I think porsche nailed it with the gauge cluster on the 991.2...
This guy is having a laugh. 😂 I’ve got both GT3 ‘s that he’s talking about (both in manual.) 992.1 GT3 is a far superior car and is real joy to drive. 😎 The double wishbone steering takes a while to master but when you get it, it’s incredible. So capable
I think I understand what he is saying. This is an old guy thought, think back to the best cell phone you ever had. For me it was something much smaller, more durable way less tech, I didn’t spend all day distracted by its other features. The car world has done the same, way too much tech. How nice would it be to purchase a modern car that was exciting to drive without tv screens everywhere, enough tech to keep you safe, just exiting to drive?
Gotta admit, say the title of the video and was prepared to be throughly annoyed by anything he said. But after listening to his reasons for disliking the car, I agree! Too much tech in a car is absolutely not worth it.

It's too digital, large, and refined. GT cars should feel like a cup car!

CAFE standards makes that an impossible feat.
@@bitmen1296agree
Great car but elec rack does suck.
LOVE every drive in my Evora 400!!
I have the same experience as him. Now in January i sold my 2021 for a 2017. Back to the roots... ❤
you sold it for a 991.2? I prefer those too.
GT3 MY is 18-19 and 14-16. There was no MY17
This is why I love my 997 GT3 RS. Pure, raw, analog.
I had an f87 M2C 6 speed and the new g80 feels like a Cadillac compared to it. Sad, really. They're not special at all anymore.

I ownee both 992 and 991.2 . Totally agree on what he said. Sold my 992 in 40 days of ownership
Picked up a 2001 S2000 from an old couple. Gave it a full service, wheels, and tires. Thing is an absolute blast. 9k redline, feels like the car is going to explode the harder you push, but the reliability is rock solid. They don't make cars like that anymore.
cause greed comes first. they cant fix it, if its well build and wont break lol
Yikes to the intro.
@@jacksonbarinowski3966exactly right!
Dude completely specified the car, including interior I pressume, and was surprised with all the screens upon delivery.
A thinly veiled explanation for flipping it haha
Yeah, he saw the interior but I guess he didn't realize how digital it became overall until he lived with it. I agree with his opinion
Totally understandable. Too much tech in things that don't even need it
991 has 2 screens, 992 has 3 screens, you’d have to be a special kind of stupid to think that it is “too much tech”
Then P#rnhub plays in the dash. Audio Volume goes 100%. And cops pull you over.
Interesting opinion, I set up my gt3 in a sport mode so all you have is 2 screens next to your rev and turn pcm off. 992 is louder inside, suspension is phenomenal, all you need is good alignment and wing adjustments
hi! how do you adjust your Wing then?
Loose 2 screws and adjust it, also need to adjust brackets in front of front wheels
Hear that? That's the world's smallest violin...
Smart choice to sell the car, that's the same reason I went with a 2005 Honda instead of the GT3.

How would you compare a 996 GT3RS to a 997 GT3RS? Love your collection!
Don’t have a 997RS but have driven friends later model RS’s (sic) the 996 just feels like the right size. Sure, it’s not as fast but the steering is the best of any car I have ever driven, and it just feel… right.

I'm with you, though.
Thats his view and i am so agree with him. Sold my 992 in 40 days of ownership. Went back to 991.2 gts
My 996 GT3 is raw as F&*ck.
I own Chris old 991.2 Miami Blue GT3. He is right. The 991 is perfect!
You confirmed my fears on the 992. Faster doesn't mean better. 991 is a sweet spot of performance and fun/feels.
Just close your eyes, you won't see the screens
Careful, that's how you go invisible. Dont want to do that at a red light. Might get accidentally carjacked.
Iv'e been saying for years now, nothing is as it was and i mean that all around, even the tech these companies put in cars is sloppy, inadequate, and glitchy. Just the fact it even happens with porches on this level is disheartening. Makes ya wonder what enthusiast cars are really left. If any.
I think the answer you're looking for is Miata.
The GT3RS I think might be, but honestly this is now such an aero dominated car that I'm not sure it has appeal to me as a road car.
non of the stuff you said about the double wishbone suspension is because of it being a double wishbone suspension
Having never even driven a Porsche I cannot agree more.
997 is even better and for the most pure driving experience is the 996 gt3! Both Mk1 and 2
100% Spot-On! These electronic Nannie’s make me hate all new cars. Garbage to save me from myself that I didn’t ask for need or want. All manufacturers should make them an option. A safety package. Let the buyer decide.
992 feels much bigger. Size of 991 is perfect
Trading a 992 for a 991.2 should be a pretty easy task and likely cost no money. Just head to Westwood and do it.

I clicked on this video in a sort of a "let's check the clickbait" way but this guy made a lot of sense.
Sounds like you should try a gt4rs 😊
Sounds like you need a 992 GT3 Cup car. Though you might complain that has too much technology too. Doesn't have anything but a screen so it's probably not raw enough for you either.
Exactly why Mr Purple is never leaving my Garage!!! It’s absolutely RAW!!!
Damn, manual 992 gt3 is the dream. To each their own.
You can get it all fouled up
997 gt3 is the sweet spot
I get it completely. I waited until I found my halo car. 991 50th Anniversary. Naturally aspirated, manual transmission, no tech (backup camera, parking assist, etc.) with pepita (houndstooth) seats. It has all the sensory experiences I enjoy in a street car. I don’t care about horsepower, zero to sixty, etc in a non tracked 911. It’s doubtful that the care will ever leave me.
It’s one of those things that’s happening across the board. VW is losing their ass on the new iPhone gti and R
What about the electronic steering?
The only thing I would "hate" about a car like that would be the payments that for me, would be about 30 years.
So raw. Just, so so, raw. Just, sheer rawness.
Absolutely no prophylactic to speak of. Not a single cooking appliance to be seen. So raw even farm animals and hookers are like WTF?
No.
Compare driving this to an older G body RSR and you'll understand "raw"
I lost count how many times I asked myself, “no way he’s going to say raw again”. But he never disappointed all the way to the end 😂
I get it, i dont ever want screens in my car either
I don’t think this guy likes the 992.
If "Money cant buy happiness" was a video.
We have passed peak sports car in so many ways.
New 911 is basically all Tech, to compensate for being Rear-Engine. Cayman is a far superior platform from the start, the base model Mid-engine is amazing, the GT4 is astonishing!
well if that is the case, i highly suggest you to try a 997.2 3rs and you might forget about ur 991. ✌🏽
Why I love my 944s
If you’ve driven enough Porsches you’ll understand what he means
He is right. the direction the industry is heading makes me appreciate my Pur Sang Bugatti T35 even more
The issue is that quite a few hardcore car enthusiasts agree with you, but that's not the general audience I think.

No dealer ever offered me a new gt3 992 (hard to get on the list) so went with the 991.2. Reading and watching reviews on the 992 made me feel somewhat pissed that I had to pay essentially the same for the old car used as I could have for a new one had I been given an allocation
Having driven older Porsche 911’s along with a Subi STI I agree with you re analog dashboards and rawness. And I’ve never even driven the 992- so cannot pass judgment as to whether the new dashboard would be a deal breaker as it was for you. As it stands to go to a 992 at current aftermarket prices from my 991.2 would still be $50k-
Hard to say if that front suspension upgrade is worth the $50k, even if I tolerate the digital dash
Yea. Just happened to me the same. I like more the 991. But with an aftermarket exhaust the 992 became much better

Agree with keeping the simplicity of previous GT3s. I also prefer the fixed spoilers (e.g., on 2015 911 GT3). The current wings look cheap to me. It makes the car look like it belongs on the set of Fast-and-the-Furious.

I’ve got both GT3 ‘s that he’s talking about (both in manual.)
992.1 GT3 is a far superior car and is real joy to drive. 😎
The double wishbone steering takes a while to master but when you get it, it’s incredible.
Keeping my 991.2 3RS till I croak or it does
There's nothing raw about a 991.1 GT3. It's the plushest, comfiest, auto-only, most regular feeling GT3 ever.
