Most amazing thing about it is that it weighs 1630 kg din with 60 kwh battery pack,it is almost 400 kg lighter than tesla model y,800 kg lighter than porsche macan ev,100 kg lighter than 2024 petrol VW tiguan,it is 400 kg lighter than toyota BZ4X with 70kwh byd pack,it is 600 kg lighter than bmw ix3,it is by far the best family ev crossover ever made,it's battery has 5C charging capability and 192wh/kg in pack level energy density one the highest ever in LFP battery chemistery industry,it's amazing battery pack will retain 88% of it's capacity after 3600 cycles compared with 3000 cycles for byd's blade battery packs and 800 cycles for panasonic NCA 21700 pack in the model y or 1500 cycles for tesla's own 4680 NCM model y for the same 12% battery capacity loss, geely just made history with this amazing ev

4:27 "Cell to body which is Giga casting"??? I don't think so... Cell to body is like a "million" pieces of batteries put to cells, "wrapped" to a huge battery pack and welded (or something strong bound) to the car, so basically that is the floor plate. Giga casting is hot metal injected into pressing machines and a full section of a car is created in 1 single piece. Both technologies can be used independently or together. Both making the car very strong but they are different things...

The hottest year on record, 2023, was also the most extreme for wildfires, according to new research. Both the frequency and intensity of extreme wildfires have more than doubled in the last two decades, the study found. And when the ecological, social and economic consequences of wildfires were accounted for, six of the last seven years were the most “energetically intense.” “That we’ve detected such a big increase over such a short period of time makes the findings even more shocking,” said Calum Cunningham, a postdoctoral researcher in pyrogeography at the University of Tasmania and lead author of the study published Monday in the journal Nature Ecology & Evolution. “We’re seeing the manifestations of a warming and drying climate before our very eyes in these extreme fires.” Last week wildfires in New Mexico killed two people and burned more than 24,000 acres; in Southern California, more than 14,000 acres burned near Los Angeles.

Very interesting but still people deny their role since 1900 in climate change, mostly from the „hidden“ sources that are not cars contributing ‚only‘ to one third. But all the tankers, idiot cruise ships and container carriers, fishing fleets polluting the seas. But what we see is easy explained when you have some idea of mathematics and physics. The developments in nature are never a linear one as limited by brain humans still think. The developments are exponential. So e.g. Tesla is still growing at high rate but adding only 10% every years becomes more and more demanding. If a chess board were to have wheat placed upon each square and you double the number of grains in any square how much do you have on the 64th?

The exception is a moose weighs in excess of a 1000lbs with long legs. The struck moose has its legs broken by a vehicle and the body comes down very hard on the car when it's hit a 100+ kmph...

To be absolutely clear, Sam, the highest crash standard is ENCAP 5. In the standard, the car has to yield or fold to reduce the stresses on your neck to as low as possible. In a rigid car the mass of your head will break your neck, which will be fatal. You will note that the bolts on a plane seat are designed to break to stop this happening. You have more chances of surviving flying through the air than being rigid with the plane. If the company is saying its cars are safer due to its rigidit, please do not buy one.

All their advertising is for EVs but they’ve just announced (2 weeks ago) that they have teamed up with Renault to build a range of small highly efficient IC engines for future hybrid cars. And we’re talking big, big money. So Geely obviously have done their research and found that IC engines have a very definite future alongside their electric counterparts. The truth about safety is not how rigid the structure is, but how it deforms to absorb the kinetic energy. The squishy thing behind the wheel won't stop moving if the car stops instantly. And the bits inside the squishy thing are what get damaged. Notably the brain. So controlled deformation/breakage are actually better. With castings there is a better chance to design-in controlled absorption of the energy. More expensive to repair, but ya cain't repair a torn brain!

I appreciate your reporting on the Chinese EV’s. Unfortunately, being in North America (Canada) we are not being allowed the chance to have these wonderful advances in technology because of political mechanizations. Fortunately, we DO have Tesla though it would be nice to have some other REAL choices for EV’s not the junk from the North American legacy auto.
Please keep up the good work of your reporting, it is much appreciated!

Giga casting could be adapted to internal combustion vehicles too. When is the Electric Viking going to explore the water to combustible gas technology as was perfected by such inventors as Stanely Meyer? The hydrogen/oxygen gas produced by this technology is much "greener" than those short life batteries used in EVs. Water is cheap and available. I've learned that salt water can work with this technology as well. Virtually free energy so why not? Many existing vehicles, jet planes, and turbine engines could be easily converted to run on water.

@@rogerphelps9939 Debunked by whom, those that are in the pay of the elites (big oil). The inventor Dennis Klien also ran his car on water. If you knew some basic science, you would know that water is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Hydrogen if you didn't know, is a very explosive gas. When water is hit by the appropriate resonant frequency the bond of the molecule breaks down and an explosive gas made up of separate hydrogen and oxygen molecules is created. It is then immediately used to run an internal combustion engine. Some people only believe in authoritative sources presented to them by the elites. You seem to be such a person. It is the people that don't follow the "experts" presented to them by the ruling elites that advance civilization. Water as predicted by Jules Vern is the fuel of the future.

Cars with stiffer bodies also means that if they hit a car without such stiffness, a motorbikers, a cyclist or a pedestrian - they do even more damage to them.

I'm guessing he means that this technology should make the parts of the passenger compartment portion of the body stiffer. For example making the whole door rings less prone to deformation. But the front cabin part, should still apply a lot of the cushioning technology Geely learned from volvo. If Geely wanted to pass Euro-NCAP, it would certainly have passed the Vulnerable Road Users test

most of today's BEV have poor maintenance economy. Often their battery can only be replaced in their entirety - just like when a small feature on an iPhone breaks, you can all but replace the entire motherboard. But the Wuling Starlight, a car from Wuling (a joint venture constructed by SAIC, GM, and others, whose products are often marketed abroad under the Chevrolet label), could theoretically be swapped out for a particular set of cells in the battery alone, and may be able to greatly reduce the cost of repair after an accident

Cars got safer BECAUSE they were designed to deform in a collision. The deformation absorbs energy that otherwise is transferred to the passengers. What are you talking about? What you are saying contradicts all of the crash test data from the last 50+ years!
