For the question of why players block if you pump main phase, I think it's because the play is right in front of them. I've wondered why Bogles ends up being a worse deck sometimes compared to a Kiln Fiend deck, and it's just because the average player often can't see the instant speed play vs the obvious way to kill the hexproof creature. Basically you can win a lost game with pump spells, but not with sorcery speed enchantments
18:28 I don't like that people keep trying to use this argument. The banned announcement _tells you_ why they didn't ban Sol Ring. Reason a) being that it's possibly the most iconic card of the format, reason b) being that its the most accessible broken ramp spell of all time. Every other one costs $100+, or did at the time. Plus, the consistency of multiple broken mana rocks is a lot worse to play against, _especially_ on a budget, than the high variance of just one. Like, a lot of the reason people shifted to commander before WOTC started pumping out constant support and advertisement out for it was being priced out of every other format. Cause if you're a good deckbuilder, you can easily win games with your $25 synergy machine over someone's blinged out value pile.
I think its funny we had a Orzhov ephemerate deck for just grief and solitude after mh2. Grief gets banned and all they needed was another decent blink target. Do people just start playing Hushbringer/Torpor Orb again?
