Forehand Fundamentals: How to Return Serves in Padel

  • The return is the shot you make after receiving a serve. Start 2 to 3 feet behind the service line, and stay on your toes, as you would for any other shot.
    Opponents typically aim to serve into the glass or the T area. If the serve is heading toward the glass, decide whether to hit it before it reaches the glass (by stepping forward) or after it bounces off the glass (by stepping back).
    As soon as the server hits the ball, you can determine if it’s coming to your forehand or backhand. If it’s coming to your forehand, prepare immediately by pulling your racket back, which gives you more time to execute your shot. Then decide if you want to hit the ball before or after it hits the glass.
