I have a neighbor who has a loud exhaust on his pickup truck and he's out there at 6 a.m. And it startles me almost every time he starts it but if I had a car that would benefit from a muffler delete I would do it too. Have a 2009 Chevy Malibu so not going to work. Dodge Challenger will be my next car in the coming 12 months
jay mood I’m pretty sure you’re going to void a warranty on the exhaust system but any mom and pop exhaust shop can fix most problems on the cheap anyway. 2 years later and I don’t regret my mufflers being gone.
Galip Şanlıtürk that's good news, but they can also say that the exhaust is designed to create a certain amount of back pressure and the car is programmed based off of the current configuration. Changing that changes other things. I have a Hyundai and had some interior lights put in it. Dealership says that they have to mention anything after market done to the car for any warranty work. I hope to get a Hellcat soon. I have desires to mod it out, but with Dodge's already poor customer service I'm worried
steven wright There is law that states that the dealership MUST prove that a certain "mod" caused a problem. Otherwise you will be fine. Hellcats are known for having supercharger bearing problems. Othet than that I personally have a srt 392 and they are pretty solid ass cars so I'm not worried at all :)
Funny I just changed my trucks exhaust today too! Changed from flowmaster 40s to super 10. Total exhaust is pacesetter shorty headers,true dual(no cross over) with super 10 turn down tips. And congrats on the hellcat been with you since your original charger
For quad tips, I removed the rectangular exhaust tip and moved the resonators to where the mufflers use to be, that way you can adjust the positioning of the new tips.
bee Lover My Scat Pack is a daily driver. With the mufflers off and the resonators on it's the perfect balance between loud and quiet. Only loud when you start and WOT, reasonable inside the car when cruising. Without resonators it would be unusable on any sort of long drive at any speed.
I am so happy to see Riley back in MOPAR muscle. You are the reason I am saving up for a Challenger, I know, so cliche, but you have been a huge inspiration to me. HEMI of course.
For the exhaust tips, all you have to do is take off the crime muffler portion and weld the tips to the end of the resonator. Depending on which tips you get they should be able to fit right into the hole of the end of the resonator and from there just weld them. I did that to my scatpack and it came out beautiful.
Have you thought about adding some Flowmaster's in place of the mid-muffler? It could make the tone deeper and Ms. RP would be happy (crazy good sound too).
It looks like the pipe leading up to the resonator is pretty straight. Possibly shorten that up a bit to ultimately bring the resonators closer to the axle giving more space before the bumper for the split.
I did a muffler delete on my 2017 Hellcat challenger and you can tell the difference, but it wasn't crazy louder than stock. Even the muffler shop guys weren't impressed. We used 3" pipes to bridge the gap. I like it, but it is less loud than I thought it was going to be.
I thought the smaller forward units were the resonators and the rear units are the mufflers? I removed the rear huge units (mufflers) on my SRT and it sounds great. Since I left the resonators there is no interior drone.
I've had that done on the charger Hellcat over a year, it's loud on cold start and if you gun it in sport mode but just cruising not loud at all. Enjoy the car kiddo they are fun.
And im a chevy guy that doesnt hate any performance, red blooded, american car. But fiat owning chrysler makes me never want to buy a new challenger or dodge/jeep product. Im good with my 08 grand cherokee
I thought about putting quad tips on my T/A 392 but the guy who took my mufflers out talked me out of doing it. Mainly for the reason you pointed to and he also said that a Challenger isn't a Challenger without those rectangular tips. I kinda agree. Also, I had some thoughts about putting my mufflers back on, but Naaw! It does get everyone's attention...especially the backfires. Gheesh!
Can you take a pic of the inside of the mid pipe mufflers? Wondered if they look like glass packs inside. ( Straight thru) Can you hear the whine of the blower still?
As far as the quad tips - I had to cut/move the resonators back a couple of inches, then cut a small amount off the back of each tip. Fits great, doesn't stick out and looks awesome. Be sure to powdercoat them Black first - NO CHROME!

Quad tips come as part of a Magnaflow axle-back (part 19206) but you also loose the resonators. I put them on my Scat Pack leaving the mid-mufflers. Tips look so much better.
Had a mustang with a really loud exhaust (SLP LM1’s if you’re curious)-way too loud but it was fun sometimes. It did drone at highway speeds and the cold starts were stupid loud (starting the car set off adjacent car alarms occasionally). It was a lot better for me when I put some serious sound deadening in the trunk and doors but it was still super loud outside. I’m confident that it did some very minor hearing damage, which sucks, but I got a ton of compliments so it kind of balanced out. Luckily in FL the police don’t really care what exhaust you have because that thing would get you a ticket in a lot of places, lol. I won’t ever have an exhaust that loud again, it was just too much. The car came with it so I didn’t spend anything on it but I definitely think getting a really nice cat-back from a company like Borla is the best bet. Premium exhaust systems are louder but they also have a very nice sound that really makes your car pleasant to drive at any speed.
Riley, Can you share with us the type of work this muffler shop did? Was it 304 or 404 rated Stainless Steel? MIG or TIG welding? Did they have to make new exhaust hangers to support the 2 new pieces of piping? Also, you do not notice any low end torque loss whatsoever? If not, then maybe the poster claiming that there is little to no back pressure in those mid mufflers is correct. In some cars, you need to install a cross pipe to recover some of the back pressure from chopping the mufflers.
@RP just got quads put on my Scat Challenger. My muffler shop ended up cutting just before the resonators and shifting them up a few inches to make room for the quads. A little extra work but definitely worth it, love the look! Oh, and if the delete is a little too much volume/rasp for you, check out the Dynomax Race Bullets/Mini Race Bullets (can be ordered super cheap through Amazon). The delete was just a little too raspy for my liking, but the Race Bullets really cleaned it up and it still sings!
Straight pipes and muffler delete on my Hellcat Charger and I live in Kentucky in the country and my nearest neighbor several hundred feet says he can even hear my car in the mornings 😂😂But glad he's got Scat Pack with a muffler delete too.

Hey to install some quad tips you have to remove the tailpipe extensions and the tailpipe extension bracket which are that little rectangular Chrome piece.. Just so you know the Tailpipe extensions they're worth about $175 each. So if you ever plan on putting back the stock exhaust pieces on the bumper you might want to save those, or sell them its up to you lol.. but yeah removing those will give you enough room to put in some quad tips.

Irit8ed I did it to mine as well. Do it, the camera can't pick up how good it really sounds, especially in a tunnel :). You can also make crakle and pops once it's off it's awesome lol. Especially if you have track mode to keep the valves open all time.
Dodge made it so easy, 100 bucks to remove the muffler and no need to touch anything else. I love our muffler delete hellcat, never gets old!

Try paddle shifting it from 2nd to 3rd and the braaaap sounds it makes is so loud.
Next mod should be a catless mid pipe with oxygen sensor spacers !!!

I just want to ask you, why you delete the mid one? Why not the front one after the headers?! As I know ( correct me if I’m wrong) the from one will give an amazing sound and actual HP ,, so I would love to hear from you and from everyone about this ,,

Irit8ed I did it to mine as well. Do it, the camera can't pick up how good it really sounds, especially in a tunnel :). You can also make crakle and pops once it's off it's awesome lol. Especially if you have track mode to keep the valves open all time.
