The Irish 86 just looks so cool, but I might be biased
good to see you back! a true joy to watch!
Very interesting 👍
Your channel so hype
Yes, very in-depth, and very enjoyable! I just noticed the theme music has an early Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds feel to it.
Thanks Daniel! Yes it has! One of the reasons to pick the music😄
Glad you're still making videos and ge tting deeper into all the specs
Thanks! That was also my pitfall: I kept finding more and more brochures. With every brochure I had to revise the script of the video. But I think the story is complete now and I have more than enough to follow up on! 😅
The UK/Irish car came standard with the sport trim but didn’t receive side skirts until 1985 facelift model’s.
Thanks! That's very useful information! 👍
Glad to see you back :) Man,how definition of Sport package's or additional features has changed over the time, back in the days you'd actually get something useful and you know what you paid for.Awesome video as always, really enjoyed seeing old brochures.I love how 11:44 Child seat is included in sport package :D
Thanks! And it's good to be back!
The child seat isn't actually part of the sports package, but part of the dealer installed accessories. But it surely does look like a great sports seat for your little ones!
@@banpeinet Ah i see, still very cool and kinda rare to do :) oh yeah, looks very good.
In canada there is a pre facelift model that i have only known as sport gts or sport model . It came with the gts package seats ,steering wheel and spoiler but had a the single cam engine
Intereste video Art. Anyway I can't wait to see the video regarding what's wrong with Itsuki's Levin.
Regarding the Manga cars series, will the final part of You're under arrest continue?!?
Hi sir. Good info, im from canary island and have a 1985 zenki coupe. In canary island the kouki (83-85) mount lsd ,optional equipment wheels, front and rear spoiler. The zenki mount the same of germany with intra wheels, skirt, spoilers, lsd, sunroof… And there are rumors that a kouki trueno was sold here being the only one in Europe but I don't know for sure.
Thank you very much for all that detailed information! Much appreciated and very helpful! 🙏
3:20 Now I know why mine has no front mud guards.
Art! It's been so long man! Very interesting video, learned so much as usual. How're your cars doing? I hope all good. I just changed the steering rack on the LS400 today. What a pain 😅
Thanks! I still have all of them, but too little time to enjoy them. I recently restored center caps for original Toyota pizza cutter rims to mount on the Carina. How are you? Are you still located in the US?
@@banpeinet sorry for the late reply dang a whole month! Wow that's a shame about not being able to enjoy your cars. I feel you, but that's good about the wheel covers on the Carina!! Well, about me, I went back to Peru for a year and I just came back to the states 2 months ago. It's been a crazy year, finding my girlfriend changed my life upside down but in a good way. And even though I didn't enjoy the cars too much on my stay in Peru I was able to do some work on them, specially on the Celica, I got rid of the check engine light and some electrical problems, not everything though. The Lexus needed a lot of attention though. New steering rack, line, pump still leaks and I now have a check engine light because the Evo valve leaked on the intake and the smoke got the o2 sensors clogged. The story never ends on the "most reliable car" I swear hahaha
Amazing content! Do you know the history on the Levin grille? Some are simple horizontal black stripes and then we have the flip grille and other variants?
The horizontal grille with slats and flip grille are both pre facelift. The rotating flip grille only featured on the Japanese GT Apex trim. After the facelift all trim levels got the plexiglass grille. If you want to know more about the rotating grille I've written a blog post about it some time ago: www.banpei.net/2009/06/09/ae86-trivia-rotating-grille-corolla-levin
and here i was thinking ohh yeah corolla sprinter must have been really limited in accessories i mean it was its own car on its own platform right ?? wrong ! thanks for the video. the more that time passes by the more rare those 80s cars get...
Tbh I haven't seen an accessories brochure for the Sprinter yet. I know it exists for the Corolla as I missed out on that one in a bidding war 😆
So yeah, those accessories brochures even go beyond what's displayed inside the regular brochures🤯
So for the US AE86 the reason why there are no option to have a rear spoiler is because the US required all cars made after 1985 have a 3rd brake light which the rear spoiler got in the way of.
Awesome! That explains perfectly why it was absent. 👍
cool :). i didnt know there was an oem eu only lip for the facelifts haha. not too sure how i feel about the preface lip on a facelift bumper, especially at the sides its kinda too obvious it doesnt belong there lel
Yes it looks a bit weird, but it has been a common thing since the drift scene emerged
Where can I find the original video shown around 11:50
It's a compilation of four ads by Toyota called "the world is one" and Marty McFly put them together in one video: ua-cam.com/video/MAy5JB52K7I/v-deo.html
What is the 4-panel video from in your conclusion chapter?
It's all four Toyota World is One ads combined in one. Those used to be a series of ads by Toyota about 10 years ago. Toyota removed all of them from their UA-cam account, but Marty McFly put them side by side in a video. You can find them here: ua-cam.com/video/MAy5JB52K7I/v-deo.html
@@banpeinet thank you for the info and the link!
Wasn't AE85 before AE86? There is big difference is threre not?
The AE85 and AE86 are from the same E80 Corolla/Sprinter generation. The AE85 is a cheaper version without the twin cam engine. It is still a potent car though as it shares the body and suspension, so a lot of people have swapped the engine over the past decades.
@@banpeinet Ok, I thought maybe some of these cars you covered here were AE85s. I think they have weaker diff and drive shafts too and I was told they didn't come with 2 tone paint job
@@nzuncovered1845 There is one ae85 I covered in this video, and that's the SR model. It does have a different rear axle, diff and drive shafts and it does indeed lack the panda paint. The pre-facelift versions of the Sports Package didn't include the AE85. However, the facelift (kouki) version did have a Sports Package that would upgrade the standard SR with semi-two-tone-paint on the top of the bumpers, a rear spoiler and the bucket-type GT seats.
